Hello out there Im in the process of restoring my Majesty. I have had the frame stripped to bare metal, but cant make up my mind about having it repainted. A couple of years ago I restored a ty175 and had the frame powder coated. This was great until I tried to rebuild it as the bolt holes and threads were all full of powder coat, also when it chips I cant touch it up. Im thinking of paintin the Majesty frame but would like some advise on what paint use, and whether this is practical as the bike will be used in trials and not just to look at. Hope somebody can help, cheers Mark

Hi guys so far I used a lot of momentum and a CRF250 now I got myself a TLR200 Reflex '87 everything works not great, more redneck-mint, but the bike is ridable the engine seems healty, starts at 1st kick and puills strong but the stoppers sorry, I am used to some 'negative acceleration' when I pull the lever here I hear a 'clunk' but there is no real slowing down the rear end does not work much better I had both ends apart, the brake shoes looked to be in good condition, so I roughened the surface a little, cleaned the drums, lubed the pin, adjusted the cable/rod but did not achieve much improvement is there a trick to turn drum brakes into actual stoppers …

Hello All, just completed a 180mile round trip to pick up this Its as far as I can tell a MkIII cota 247 in tatty but mostly complete condition (only the airbox not present) The plan is to get it in a running and into a basically useable condition to do a few white route wobblers trials with my local club, as I want to get back into trials after a 20yr+ layoff (i.e. since I was a teenager) ive got three years of practice time before i'm eligible for the over-40 class . I had better point out now that this is NOT going to be a full restoration job (yet) as ive got enough roadbike projects to keep me busy at the moment, but who knows for the future The frame no i…

Looking to get a twinshock but no real idea about what's hot and what's not ? There is a couple of cleans bikes in the shape of a 348 montesa cota and a ty 250 yam. Is one better than the other, would you recommend one over the other ??

Guys, I am days away from riding my KT for the first time. Just buttoning up some odds and ends and having a little trouble with the clutch and throttle cable. I am using original cables and don’t see how they route. The frame has two plates welded onto the center tube and it looks like the cables could go through there, but not sure and no pictures anywhere in my shop manual or online that I can find. so my question is how do the brake and throttle cable route and what cable goes on what side of the downtube. Thanks! Ron

I've been writing up some of my bike projects (SWM's mainly) over the last 18 months or so and have recently migrated it to a new service provide and activated the twinshock.org.uk domain. I've been mainly using the hungerstone.net monicker up to now, but with the change it will be easier for other people to now come on board and contribute information on their twinshock projects and trials events If you want to participate or have any comments then drop me an email or visit the site

Hi folks, does anyone know what thread is used on the top of the yoke stem, the one that holds the top yoke to the steering stem? Further to that, does anyone have such a nut, and better yet lend or sell me a die to cut this thread? Thanks in advance for any help. Dave

Hey all, I have just acquired a early 80's Merlin and need some engine parts. Namely a piston kit and possible con rod kit. - anyone know of a supplier? - should these bikes have a chrome bore? It is a very early bike. #7 off the production line I believe.

Hi maybe some out there can help. I am rebuilding a Cota 350, which has basically the same engine as a 349. I had the crank rebuilt and the rod used is not a Montesa original rod but a Metrkit rod which is aprox 1 mm thicker in the rod width, the base and top being the same as the Montesa rod. I recentered the crank using some of the different guaged spacers, and got everything lined up with an even distanve between crank halfs and the rod centered in the middle of the crank cases. Everything seemed ok until I put the piston and cylinder on and there is a noise as I turn the engine over. From what I can see, the connecting rod is shifted to one side as the engine turns a…

I need some help here please. I have a 247 Cota around 74 75 vintage on standard bore (72.58) that has bad rattles in the top end. New rings, pin, bearing have not done much to stop the problem. I bought a new piston and rings advertised for a Cota 250 (72.75) (made in Italy) but have found that under the original packaging they are marked for a Bulty 250 Sherpa. That was crossed out and Cota written in texta. Both pistons are nearly identical. Original Cota has a port on the intake side with oval ends, the new one has a port with rectangular ends. High and low skirts appear to be the same. Ring pegs on the old one are at the front, the new one has them at the rear…

I was riding my TLR 200 over a practice stage today for about an hour and everything was running fine as normal - although at the beginning of my ride the clutch felt to be slightly slipping and so I backed off the cable adjustment and all was good. Eventually I stopped for a rest - maybe 10 minutes and when I went back she started first kick as usual but a terrible rattle coming from the clutch side - sounding like around the starter area but not sure. I immediately switched off and trailered the bike home and removed the clutch cover - this is what I found however I can't see where the problems is. The engine turns over smoothly by hand - can anyone throw me an ide…
