Twinshock

  1. Started by johnnyboxer,

One has appeared on ebay for a 175/200. What was it? Fits between carb and reedvalve and connects via pipe from the inlet rubber. Is it a gimmick.................don't remember any trials bikes with 'boost bottles'............although Yamaha YZ & IT's of that era had this type of arrangement. Can anyone enlighten me ..................I'm sure Chris (Honda RS) will be able to help me out.

What happened to that very nice original 175 Majesty that we have all been watching on ebay?

As title suggests, i need help (quite literally) . I have in a moment of madness bought a 1985 Montesa cota 330. Last twinshock Cota i think. Does anyone know if a manual in either english or multi lingo as per 348/349 could be had from somewhere for this elusive model???? Or any other thoughts or comments on the bike.. cheers , S_M.

I was looking in one of my old books and found two pictures of Mick Andrews on one of his TY's, The pictures are not that good but can anyone identify the engines? The book is "MOTOR CYCLE TRIALS TECHNIQUES AND TRAINING" by Leavitt and Weed. The Pictures are on pages 128 & 139 take notice of clutch cover and header mods!! Sorry to those who do not have this book as I do not own a scanner. Cheers

Hi Can anyone out there tell me how much clearance there should be between the side of the airbox and the exhaust downpipe on an early 349? Mine appears to have little to none and has started to melt the plastic? I believe the exhaust to be stock Montesa as I have compared this to my spare which is definitely original, the bracket and frame tube appear to be true, the only thing I have done when recommissioning the bike was replace the original silencer with a WES alloy type but this joins the down pipe nearer to the shock absorber mounting bracket. Likewise if anyone could tell me the clearance of the exhaust from the tank seat unit, obviously I do not …

Ever since my TY 175 became 205cc, I have been breaking kickstart levers frequently. Yes they are easily available but it becomes expensive having to keep buying new ones. I have experimented with different home made designs but am not happy with any of them yet. The Mini Majesty featured on page 38 of Classic Dirt Bike Issue 2 (Ted Salmon's bike) has a kickstart lever that resembles the Yamaha item but looks a bit more substantial at the knuckle end than the Yamaha item. Maybe it's just an optical illusion in this case but does anyone know of where TY175 kickstart levers of a superior design are available from? Thanks

I have changed the carb on my Montesa 123 for a Mikuni with a main jet of 190. The exhaust is now leaking black oily gunge, is this because the jet is too big or is it something else. The plug is a NGK B6ES. Cheers John
