Twinshock

Hi all,, I want to clear something up about twinshock trials bikes,,, I ride several different twinshocks, But the one i use in modern trials took me months to build and yes it has disc brakes, hydraulic clutch and a tubeless rear wheel, but at the end of the day is a twinshock.. and is a lot heavier than a modern bike, My point is when motorbikes were first used in trials they were just modded road bikes that people were trying to make as competetive as possible, So a lot of people get a lot of enjoyment from taking an old bike to the next level, and pushing the boundries of their bikes, But those of you who ride standard machines are constantly up in arms…

I rode my 325 beamish in the last round of the Euro cup yesterday. Quite fun but it is very "tired" to coin a phrase. That means, no poke! I now have a used std barrel with slight scoring and a new 0,25mm oversize piston (Thanks Robin!) Just need to visit the boring shop! Now my question: The barrel has a ca. 6mm hole drilled in it about 10mm above the exhaust port windows. Is this normal? Constructive answers only please Greeves! Lee

does anyone know of any clubs in the yorkshire area that run twinshock classes at thier trials? i would like to be able to put together a full "season" of events if possible, any advice appreciated. paul.

Howdy folks.Any one here be intrested in competeing in a premiere twinshock road trial some time in the autunm next year. The idea being that there is no big meeting for twinshock riders in the calender only the ACU classic series,the pre65 boys have the scotish,manx and bonanza, so we in the herefordshire classic trials club want to put on an event for the twinshock brigade. Useing terrain in the same part of the county as an old national trial was once held. No dates at the mo as we dont want to clash with the ACU classic series. Anyone intersted? Cheers.

Hi I am rebuilding a bultaco sherpa 250 with a view to having a go at twinshocking so am keeping it as original as possible but fitting it with practical bits as well. My question is i have just got some weld on big footrests from Dave Renhams to fit before i respray the frame and want to know if they should be fitted in the same position as the original puny items or is there a modification that would benefit the bike and me?ie upwards or backwards slightly? Thankyou in advance. John.

I have a Kawasaki KT250 tank that has rust on the inside and outside and a minor dent. Anyone suggest somewhere to get it repaired and painted! Or replacement tank!!!!!!! Also does anyone know what the engine mod was on the Gollner KT`s

The rear shocks on my Fantic FM350 have lost all their damping but the springs seem OK. Do I attempt to rebuild or replace? What suppliers are there in the UK and how much should I expect to pay? Thanks.

Hello to all, Not sure where to ask this question, though twinshock seems to be the obvious place. I have an old Yam TY250 Twinshock, it`s not run since 1992. I started it as a project something to tinker with, put it to the back the shed and now I wish to have a play on it. I took the somewhat knackered chain off and i`ve thown it away without counting how many links that I need to replace it. 520 is what was on it, how many links do you think i`ll need...? Reading through a lot of posts i`ll not be buying Iris as it seems they snap, any other suggestion would be welcome. Circlip

Has any one on here had a juddering clutch problem on a Seeley? I know a common mod on TLRs is to fit CR80 plates and springs, is it the same on a Seeley? Or is there another mod? Also what is usable for the swingarm main bolt? as I noticed a mates bike had the wrong one in at a trial on sunday. Has any one found an alternative, or had one made? Thanks in advance

My Cota 247 is back working again....which is a gas. Still plenty of work to do though....front wheel is buckled and I have another one turning up soon. Shockers are pretty buggered....and new chain & sprockets can't be far away. BUT most pressing problem is that it is just very VERY loud. Problem is that it doesn't have any of the original exhaust silencer beyond the fist pipe. It has got one silencer in the place of the middle box which is from a Suzuki RGV250. Looks good but to all intensive purposes is just a through pipe. I know that Dave Renham has got some original back boxes.....but this bike is anything but original and I am quite happy to build a sile…

The Seeley needs some shocks. I saw an old thread on the subject where folk were singing the praises for Falcons. I was reading in the Classic dirtbike mag today NJB now do a Trikshock. There is a tenner difference between the two. The bloke at Falcon builds em to order depending on your weight etc and can make em up using a MX piston which makes the bike feel more like a mono apparently. Any thoughts ??? Looking in issue two of classic bike i saw weve interest the trial in provence where some riders were using Motobecane trials bikes! Charles coutard won the event no less on one, Now these look real beautys! anyone know more about these bikes? i'd guess they'd go in the pre 65? catogery as surley C. Coutard being a former works bultaco star would be using a seventies bultaco! like the bike he done so well on in that era? also read weve interest that someone in France actually makes/ puts together these bikes much in the same way as the beamish/ majesty operations were in the 70/80's anyone rode one of these bikes?

Can any one tell me about the Mini Majesty frames. Are they all the same or are there differing types, eg early and late like the 250s. I know there are still some available from C Mawlem. I have a TY175 that I may convert. I liked the look of the one in Classic Dirtbike mag, and a nice one was for sale at Malvern last week. Any info appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Does any one know the correct length (centre to centre) for the rear shocks on a 175 Mini-Majesty the one with the chrome Godden frame.

This may annoy Mr Nixon(sorry) but am just wondering how much the CCM trials bike he has advertised is worth. It is a very impressive looking machine. I would ask him myself but he says he doesnt want anyone to enquire by mail. I really like the look of the TL200/250 as well. If this deemed to be out of order could the moderators please remove as I dont want to cause any offence.

Just wonderd if anyone going to the show sat, was manning stands or showing there bikes? if so perhaps we could meet up and have a chat? put a face to all you guys that post on here? p.s i wont be showing any of my bikes as there not that good! maybe next year?

Hi, Need new tyres and I'm wondering if I can use a 4.10 instead of a 4.00 on the rear of my MAR 250? I do mainly country road riding and a bit of green laning, so I'm looking for a tyre to suit and the tyre I'd like to use only comes in a 4.10! Thanks Andy

Im on with selling my 315r to buy a twin shock , ive seen a very clean montesa 242, its about 1984 ,anything to watch out for ,and how much are they worth ?twin shock prices going up all the time any help would be gratefull
