Could anyone tell me what thread the 8 mounting bolts are for the sprocket on a Bantam/Cub hub? They are 1/4 diameter but not sure if they are BSF or cycle thread - or whether there is any difference! Thanks

Hi, I have a Bantam with Wico-Pacy-55 generator and ignition. All coils on the stator have been removed except the Ignition Coil at the top (with HT lead connected). My question is around where the (low-tension) current is generated.... - is it generated in the missing coils, that would presumably also have powered the lights - or is it generated in the Ignition Coil itself (i.e. does this coil generate the current, as well as creating a HT feed when the points open/close). The reason for asking is to understand whether I can forget the missing (lighting) coils, and just run with the Ignition Coil. Yes, I might go down the electronic ignition route at some stage, …

Just completed a bantam new build. Started with a 4 speed engine and heavyweight forks bought cheap off a lad at work. Frame kit from progressive classics, bantam hubs with new akront rims, everything else new or newly manufactured. Was it cheap ? Probably about £2500 without all of my dads labour or many "guvvys" from work but I think worth it and looks good. First try out tomorrow . Any opinions ? Cheers John

hello all, please help me with my decision. i want an old british long distance trials (LDT) (or reliability trials as they were called back in the day) bike, not too worried about super trials ability. but should have reasonable road manners and able to cruse along at about 50mph (or close as possible). so would a 175cc 2 stroke be better than a 200cc 4 stroke?? i dont really want a full on trials bike more like a pre 65 green lane bike that i can do some LDT's on or should i be looking at something like a royal enfield 350cc 4s, james captin 200cc 2s an ariel or something completely different. please dont say an xr400, thats what i will be selling to fund this proje…

Hi, Does anyone have any info on suitable mods to improve the 175 Bant power with revised port timing. Im from a road racing background but after a quick look, it seems to me the transfer timing is quite short on the standard barrel, particularly for a trials engine. Any ideas folks?

Hi, My name is anthony, I stumbled across this site after researching Bantam Trials bikes on google. I have a bantam trials bike project and thought I would say hi to likeminded people! I have had the Bantam for about 20 years, it was my first bike and was very much a "bitsa" when it was first built by my dad and me! It has sat in my shed for a good 10 years so I thought it would be fun to drag it out and rebuild it properly! It currently has a few non original parts fitted, Suzuki TS 100 front forks, Fantic 125 front wheel, Home made Tank, seat, alloy side panels and airfilter! It was fantastic fun to build and gave me a good introduction to trials and was alot of fun…

Hello, Can anybody specify the width of a Bantam D14 4 rear hub and/or specify the part number? Had got a hold of a Bantam rear hub to put in my trials Cub, with the idea it is a bit wider/stronger wheel. Ordered all the parts from CWC accordingly, build it up and now spokes are sticking out inside the rim for about 4-5mm... so am a bit baffled what went wrong. Hope someone can tell if my D14 4 hub is not what I bought if for (only have a bunch of Cub part catalogues) and suggestions for solutions? Thank you in advance!

I spoke to a bloke at an autojumble a while ago who specialised in Bantam parts, old boy from somewhere in the Reading, Berks Oxford neck of the woods. I wrote his number down to contact him and got a digit wrong. Does anyone here know the bloke I mean, he had supplied some parts for trials projects in the past. Any ideas?? Thanks.

Well as the title suggests does anybody know what size taper roller bearings will fit the headstock on a D14/4 Bantam ? I can machine the stem on the yokes to suit so within reason the id doesn't matter. Thanks in anticipation.

I've just acquired a Bantam trialler, with a view to replacing the SY250 heap of engineering sh*te that I got the other week. The new steed is a 1969 D14/4, I understand, a bit heavier, like me, but at least the plug can be changed without removing the tank and radiator, and the float bowl removed without the prior removal of tank, rear mudguard, air filter/box, muffler, aluminium spreader plate, and gas shock. The frogs must be taking the pus. Back to the plot - I don't know what petroil mix to feed the Rooster on. I was using Morris' "Sport Action 2" synthetic oil in the sulking frog, but that is a lot different to the "Gloopy" stuff that we used to have 40 years a…
