Pre-65 Bikes

I am looking for a copy of Don Morley's book "Classic British 4 Stroke Trials Bikes". I lent my copy to a guy many years ago and never got it back Does anybody have a spare copy that they want to sell ?, or know of anybody who may have one that they want to sell.? noting the problem with all the various classes and routes in a modern classic trial why not go back to the system used when i started, we all rode the same sections no different routes, you just got on an rode the event , as a basic novice you struggled but learnt , your first clean was something to celebrate as you progressed to centre level then national trials ,my turning point was finishing a trial without stopping ,i may be an old fashioned sod but at seventy five i am still riding but now on a proper pre 65 outfit , a panther of course, cheers will

can anyone help me with piston types to increase the capacity of my tiger cub, believe a kawasaki piston may give me 214cc, but i dont know the model. thanks roy

So, still got the metal on metal noise after the bike has run for around 10 minutes. I sat looking at the engine tonight waiting for a eureka moment and maybe I had one. Have a look at the picture, could it be that as the oil heats up it just flows downhill to the inlet rocker and doesn't bother to flow uphill to the exhaust rocker? The oil starvation from the exhaust rocker then creates the noise.

The Stratford-Upon-Avon Club held a social event on Saturday 9th July to celebrate the centenary year of the Colmore Cup trial. I estimate that around 170 trials enthusiasts including five previous winners of the trial took part in the event which visited many of the locations once used in the Colmore. Riding or driving any type of machine, the entrants were taken on 60+ mile loop of the Cotswold Hills and with an 'on road' route and a 'off road' route, there was something for everyone. Towards the end of the event, entrants gathered together near to a location named Camp, first used in the Colmore in 1936 and for many years until it a new owner withdrew the option to …

Hi Fellas I am new to the forum and am asking for help in setting up my cub. It is all original comerford cub, one of the first 20 shipped to Comerfords. It is fitted with an amal 376/314 carb, I have renewed all jets but can,t get it to run without popping. I have checked all joints and they are airtight. On tick over it surges and pops and all adjustments that i have done have not managed to eradicate these problems. Any ideas, I want to keep the bike as original as possible

I have a genuine Comerfords Cub, but for the life of me, I cannot find a decent photo of the original petrol tank logo for the bike. It looks like a coat of arms. I have asked all the guru's, including Gordon Farley, the Mikes and Dave Thorpe. Does anyone have such a photo?

Help guys, what would you do with a genuine 'Comerfords cub', my dilemma is do I restore it back to former glory or do I go all modern using all the trick bits now available.I am fully aware that it is not competitive in its original trim but would it still be desirable as I don't think there are that many around any more.At the end of the day they are only a converted 'Mountain Cub' but as rough as they are they are still part of 'Triumphs' famous trialing history.

Hello, I'm restoring a 1962 Comerfords Tiger Cub. Has anyone got one of these so I can have some pictures? Just want to try and sort out what it should look like. Also, mine has a 4.00 rear tyre on it that rubs the swinging arm. Would the original bike have a had 3.50 or 3.75 tyre maybe? I know you can get wider rear frames. It if it came with standard width, I'd rather leave it like that. Thanks in advance! Martin.

hi there this is my first post, fairly new to this site, finding it very interesting, anyway just bought a competition ex mod c15 b40 frame with a year date 1965 to replace my road framed altered c15 1961 frame ,with a c15t engine fitted trials bike .it as cub or late bantam hubs fitted, having trouble with rear wheel seems like spindle needs more length maybe inch each side .do any body do a different size spindle . think ive sorted front end just need to use b25 bearing races with my original front end?any info would be helpfull cheers

I recently purchase BSA 441 Victor as a basket case at a garage sale. The bike appears to be about 90% complete but at some time has had some modifications to use as a scrambler. I would like to build it back as a trials bike to use in pre-65 competitions. The frame is appears to be stock and it has a 19' front wheel. Any suggestions on frame or other mods and sources for BSA parts would be appreciated.

Any information on frame geometry, different forks, wheels, sources of parts etc would be of help in this project. Its got a V5 and I want to use it. Not for show. Green laning and the odd club event for fun. Thanks in advance, IGK

Hi Guys I am new to Pre-65 world. Just thinking what street bikes are good candidate for converting from street bikes to Pre-65. Good candidate in sense of below: Expense wise ? Time wise ? Person skills required ? My personal experience so far with BSA C15 , it requires lot of patience and bit expense . need to change forks/hubs/wheels/tyres/ignition/sprockets/ and offcourse engine mods etc , there are lot of good products in market but expensive . Is there any Poor's man guide to Pre-65 Cheers JH

Hi couple of people wanted to see pics of my cooper bantam frame inc original decal

A friend of mine has just purchased a nice C15 for Classic Pre 65 Trials. It ticks over evenly, pulls well at the bottom end, but runs out of puff when being pushed up a hill climb . I’m sure it needs a larger main jet, but I’d like to get the whole settings right , from Amal carb type to all jets , needle and slide. Thanks everyone.

Hi all, Does anyone have any information on the Cotswold BSA frames and the history around them. I also hear a lot about John Husband, did he build he a lot of bikes?

I have just acquired a cotton trials bike which i am told has an REH 360 conversion on a villiers 32a bottom end, does anyone have any info on these bikes and approx dates of manufacture. is it pre 65? (no frame number present)

finally put my cotton project up for sale don't know much about it so if anyone knows anything about it could they please pass the info on so i can add it to the description many thanks mark.
