Pre-65 Bikes

I'm looking at a bare C15 frame. Should the swingarm pivot be parallel to the short frame piece across the back at the bottom of the frame? Mine does not look so. The little frame piece just holds the pegs but I would expect them to line up.

I have a 1960 C15 and it has a tube comming up from the bottom for setting the gear box oil level. Is there a dipstick available that will work from the fill plug/ breather hole? It looks like they came on the 250s in 1967 but the fill plug hole is vertical rather than angled on the later models.

Looking at using a Bantam rear hub on my C15 build. The distance between the inner forks of the swingarm is 175mm, is it recommended to have the hub widened slightly? and can anyone recommend someone to do it?

As above, for my C15... I've budgeted about £150, not bothered if the Alloy ones are lighter, just wondered what current opinions are.. I've looked back through the archives and there's fans of either, but a lot of the opinions are a few years old so things may be different now? I see a lot of Betors about, but is that because they look a bit sexier or what ? Cheers

I want to change the fork oil in the Cerianis fitted to my Cub They have 35mm dia stanchions and are around 31" long spindle to fork tops unloaded What sort of volume and weight oil should I use as a starter. The oil that's in is red so I'm guessing it's ATF.

Hi guys. Over at my russian bike forum an American user has posted some pics of his latest toy. Its a Rokon 2WD bike. It is fitted with an Albion 3 speed gearbox. Now apparently these boxes are as rare as rocking horse poo over in the States. Can anyone supply me with a list of which bikes had these boxes fitted and any sources for spares. Cheers

so I have built my c15 almost completely from jumble parts and its time to get her running however there is a problem.. the timing side bush I have turned up is slightly tight I really don't want to strip it back down an if I do I will prob just buy the bearing conversion.. however any one else had this problem when using a bush for timing side? it is very hard to kick over altho not impossible.. doesn't help that im using an m20 kickstart borrowed from a friend.. any ideas on how to loosen her and get the oil pumping round to loosen it up a bit??? any comments welcome

MY 199cc Cub is fitted with a 22mm Dellorto carb of the type supplied for the Triumph Cub so presumably correctly jetted but I think it runs a bit rich on the pilot jet, with no reference available that I can find I hope someone can suggest the preferred jet and slide combinations please?

  16. Hi Im trying to locate and buy a Royal Enfield bullet 4 speed Albion gearbox as fitted to the works bikes. I think the gearbox is the same as they fitted in the early 50’s trials and road bikes, recognisable by the separate (higher up) gear change lever. The bike I have was probably made from a late 50’s road bullet and so is fitted with the later wide gearbox, and I find it unsuitable for trials. If anyone can advise me as to where I might find a gearbox and what I should expect to pay I will be very appreciative.

Hi all... Just thought some of you might like to feast your eyes on this bike I shouldnt really post the pic, 'cause the owner doesnt know I even took it, but the guy who was servicing it, reckoned he wouldnt mind. Its been here in Hong Kong since it was new apparently..pre war engine and post war frame I was told by the mechanic working on it. Pretty nice eh!...wish it was mine!

I am going to need a new rear sprocket for my Pre-65 Trials bike soon. It's a BSA B40 with Triumph Cub wheels, using 428 chain. I am currently running a 76 tooth sprocket, and had once purchased a replacement rear from PMP sprockets in Wylie TX. I was very pleased with. Sadly, they are no longer in business, and from all I can tell, the business was bought & operated under Superior Sprockets name. When I follow down that rabbit hole, their website is "Temporarily Closed". Does anyone have any experienc with other custom sprocket makers who might still be in business? I'm going to be in need very soon! Thanks

  20. Hi, I'm told there is a two day pre-65 trial in the lake district during August or September, but can't find any info. Any info / pointers appreaciated. Ross
