Pre-65 Bikes

  1. Started by mcman56,

I'm considering an inline screw on type oil filter for a C15. Should this be on the line feeding the engine or on the return line? Are there any recommendations for filter types or are all remote auto type filters adequate? Do all modern filters have a pressure bypass built into the filters? Thanks!!

Hi all, I am just about to finish my Armac cub and i was wondering how much they are worth in relation to what i have spent. The bike has the best of everything. Full Armac frame, Alan Whitton engine rebuild to 230cc with all his breathing, clutch, drive sproket etc modifications carried out. 35mm ossa mar forks in T21 heavyweight sliders. Armac tank, yolks, exhaust, airbox. Dellorto 22mm carb, new cables, mudgaurds etc, everything brand new. So, what do you think it would fetch if it was sold? I cant say i've ever seen one for sale!

I've just done a deal on an HT5 that has not been used for 10 years,so will need a bit of sorting out.Its basically all good with mostly the right bits, but the carb is a Monobloc. I've had bikes with these before and had no problems, but it seems they are no longer in favour, most seem to have either a Mk1 Concentric or a villiers carb. I want to get this bike to run really well,so is the original worth playing with or is it better to change it ? Which is best ?

  12. Afternoon all, Havent been on here for quite a while but decided to come back as Im about to start a new project as the Bantam is know finished, been blown up twice and is sitting in the garage looking sorry for itself Anyway, Ive got me hands on a 1966 BSA C15 star which, like my last one needs a full rebuild. Thankfully the engine is running and is sweet so that will be left until I earn some more money so I can add in the trials gearing, PVL ignition etc etc So onto the frame, forks and swinging arm. Its going to be a pure bred trials bike and although it will take along time, it will be done properly I only have a limited budget so Im looking at ways to save mo…

Hey i have a Bsa B40 GD now but i would like my bike to be a bit more nervous and powerfull. the bike has a standard piston for now but i would like to know if there if a piston available that gives higher compression (from a road version of the b40?) and can i just change my piston ( it has a flat surface) for a high compression piston or do i have to balance the flywheel and do other stuff to my engine? best regards bob

  15. Started by beamish owners club,

I have a C15, a B40 and a Tiger Cub that all need to have the carb moved further from the engine to help stop fuel evaporation (or something like that!). Does anyone have any idea where to buy such an animal?

  16. Started by mcman56,

I'm putting together a simple C15 for trials. The existing carb is a monoblock 376/ 258 and under the dirt/ cobwebs appears serviceable. I believe but am not sure that it has a 1 1/16" choke. Should this be adequate for trials? If it makes a difference, the engine has the standard cam and 40-441 head. (big valve - 11/16" choke per the RR book) The other option at hand is a 22mm TLR200 carb but the mounting is different.

  20. Started by b40rt,

My B40 has a bit of an appetite for plugs, tried different makes with little discernable difference. Also use different carbs, Amal for those where you have to, and Kehin the rest of the time. Burns a bit of oil so plug gets black anyway and difficult to get a proper picture. Runs a ticks over fine (particularly with Kehin) then develops a slight misfire before plug gives up completely. New plug and away she goes. Have heard this isn't unique to my bike. Any ideas ? Thanks Ross
