Hopefully I should finally be getting a bike soon and then starting to compete. So I need a club membership. My reasoning at the moment (possibly flawed) is to join one AMCA club and one ACU club, in order to give a wider choice of events. I live near Bristol so both Cotswolds and Somerset are on my doorstep. I'm already a member of Golden Valley (AMCA) so I'm assuming that entitles me to enter any AMCA events. Right? Which ACU club would people recommend? Will I need to join one in the Wessex Centre and one in the South-West Centre? I've been going to a number of events in the last few months and observing, but to be honest I've forgotten which clubs were …

This wild man from Richmond was dodgy on a Colin Appleyard 350 Italjet trialsidecar outfit so what is he like on a one ton Massey Ferguson tractor?Barry Watson was doing his bit for the annual Richmond Tractor Run onFriday. It was the eleventh annual day out on the North Yorkshire Dales fortwenty five vintage tractors and their carers, many of whom are friendly local landowners. The drivers endured cold winds and rain which necessitated stops at hostelry to refuel. Theorganisers have donated thousands to various charities. The recipients this year will be the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. 'Watty' is also gathering upvolunteers (?) for observing work at the 2017 Allan Jef…

Mark Chippendale, Mark Forster, Chris Manby and clothingmodel Nigella Crowther were nominally "discussing" section marking. Warning though to others - do not approach these dangerous ruffians unless bearing a gift, or a beefburger...........

The trials world were stunned with the news that Otley motor engineer and trials rider Steve Bradley collapsed and died while spectating at the Pre-65 Two Day Trial at Kinlochleven. Steve was taken ill at the Cameron Hill group of sections after just after seven competitors had ridden through. Paramedics fought to save his life but to no avail. He was sixty two years of age. In respect the section was immediately closed. His son Joe was also spectating. Both competed on a regular basis in local Yorkshire trials. Steve had just taken delivery of a new Montesa machine which he rode for the first time at the Ripon trial at Hutton Conyers on April 22. He worked in an Ot…

During the a recent visit to the Isle of Man, Terry Crabtree, popular East Midlands and Mansfield Maun organiser, suffered a debilitating Heart Attack which forced a hurried change of plans which saw daughter Karen (sidecar passenger to championship contender Chris Dellow) driving him back to a hospital nearer their home. No sooner had Terry seemed to be on his way to recovering his life style than a second malady struck with a blocked intestinal organ, resulting in an urgent return to Kingsmill Hospital where a significant emergency operation was performed. Terry's lifestyle is now significantly changed, unable to walk or drive, he is confined to a wheelchair - but…

Where are the places to look with a view to buying a secondhand trials bike, either private or from a dealer? I've found eBay, Gumtree and the advert section of this site of course. I've also found a few other websites that just re-hash adverts from other sources (pretty pointless). Are there any others I should be looking at? What about dealers? I've found a few in the north of England but they're too far away, and anyway I'd rather buy a bike that hasn't spent too much time bouncing off rocks. I heard of BVM but they don't seem to have much on their website apart from new and nearly-new. I also found RCM in Cornwall but they are also a long way away, in the ot…
