minor whinge here but one that spoils all that's good with trials. Rode the jack wood Sunday -cracking Yorkshire trial -sections spot on and really well organised. 2 fuel stops - all arranged which is most appreciated these days. Put my 2 fuel cans in with a drink taped to each can for the organiser to carry to the designated spot. Top job I thought However got to fuel stop one -fuel there - no drink - half empty bottle in the bottom of the pile - thinks its my brand and same colour tape so had the remnants and carried on Surprise surprise same issue at the second stop I'm not sure what disappoints me the most - the fact we cant trust fel…

Does anyone know the reason for decline of trials in the West Midlands? Growing up in Kidderminster there was always a trial on somewhere, run by Stourbridge, Bewdley, Dudley and a few others. Reading the midland centre regs, there appears to be nothing on whatsoever in the period between xmas and summer. I'm now living in Gloucester so a lot more choice but would still support events back 'home'. What I don't understand is that the boxing day trial run by Bewdley was absolutely packed out so I can't believe there isn't demand...

With the rising popularity of Twinshocks and Aircooled Monos in UK Trials, with separate classes and the Kia Championship, does anyone think it will be extended for early watercooled Monos, say pre 1995, in the future Say Aprillia Climber/Beta Synt/Yam TYZ and the like?

I emailed to ask about the possibility of a youth class (probably within the clubman, open to maybe any A B or C class rider ??). I got a positive reply saying great idea, encourage youths into twinshock/classic etc So........come on, get your sons/daughters to ride with you and support the series ! cheers John

  13. I was wondering if anyone would like to share some info about any past Time and Observation trials held in the North West Centre, as Im trying to write an article for the upcoming Bolton Mcc Time and Observation Trial, I know they where run as far back as the Lancashire Grand National in the 1930s and probably stopped being held on Red Rose soil with the Rochdale Club at Rooley Moor in the 80s (Maybe). Any relevant info would be superb!!

I was at my FLD looking at the new Bonnie and said dealer mentioned that, as of next year, all motorcycles must have anti lock braking. A quick Google seemed to confirm this. Can anyone in manufacture/import say how this will affect the ability to register a trials bike or will the SSDT become "used bikes only"? Is the ACU aware of this one?

A piece of land bought and paid for by the Yorkshire Post for Motor sport. Taken over during the war and not given back to the club. Now Leeds City council seem to like messing anybody using it for anything but dog walking and locals using it as a "party" venue. Sorry but the "war Dept" and the land they requisitioned needs to be sorted out. too many people lost out and the use of the area by passing to to "local" authorities has lead to loss of amenities. Allowing building on this area is just not in keeping with it's original use.

Is there any difference between how ACU and AMCA trials mark Non-stop trials. I have read the non-stop rules of a AMCA club and they differ from the ACU's TSR22B definition. Without going into too much detail it more or less says a stop of more than 3 seconds is one mark lost. Footing once whilst stopped 2. My interpretation of TSR22B is if you stop, it's a five. So which is right, or are they different?? Cheers Bill

  18. I have some parts I want making for a restoration project, I have found it incredibly difficult to find someone to make them, as most company's don't want the work either because it's not in the100 or 1000's of parts or the quote is ridiculous as they don't really want to do it, or because I'm not VAT registered!!! Anyway, can anybody recommend a machinist who might be willing to discuss the work and is either in the Oxfordshire, Wiltshire or Berkshire area. Your help would be much appreciated. Cheers.

First trial of the season for the Tubby Trials Team. 3 members participated at birchwood farm today. The course was well laid out and the observers were keen and fair. The weather pleasant but this mornings showers made things interesting. Thanks to the club! Look forward to the next outing.

On behalf of ALL the SSMCC crew, I would the thank everyone for their support regarding the Vic Brittain Trophy Trial - entries full on the 5th day !!!!!! an overwhelming response. The observers, without these guys NO trial would be possible and all the marshals on the day. Special thanks goes to Mark Wells, Micky Wilding, Gordon Lawley, Ian Spence, Steve Fox, John Wells and any one else who helped set out the sections. Roll on the Long Mynd 2 Day in August - regs TBA JT
