theres a trial sunday at thurlestone quarry and I haven't rode there before. ive been trying to find out what the access is like to the venue but had no look. on google maps the road up passed the houses from the bottom looks quite tight and narrow. is this the case or is it fairly wide? the reason for asking my dads not got a cheap van yet for riding and as you will all know a lot of venues have terrible access. and I don't want him to drive up in his good van and not be able to get up there without any scratches. thanks

Hi, does anyone know where I could get a new set of tyres fitted in Lancs? I'm in Clitheroe and near to Inch Perfect but I don't think they do tyres...or do they? Cheers

Might I draw your attention to this https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/motorcycles-implementing-eu-regulation-1682013 , the relevant part being the application of type approval to trials motorcycles "used on the road". Those used purely in competition will be exempt. There seems to be a complete lack of understanding that the two are not mutually exclusive and that type approval for bikes used in road trials will apply. There are few enough of these events as it is but we don't want to see any, particularly the SSDT, disappear due to lack of suitable bikes. Triallers Helen Greaves and Paul Hobson are reviving the Batley Motorcycleand Car Club after several dormant years. They will run a trial catering for all classes, in particular Twin Shock and Pre 65 machines as well as modern,at the Parkwood Offroad Centre at Tong on Nov 26 starting at 11 am under Yorkshire Centre ACU permit. Batley ran hillclimbs and road races plus trials for many years, but were also particularly involved in providing interesting vehicles to the creators of the popular 'The Last of the Summer Wine' TV series........ Arkengarthdale trialler Jack Stones (189) rode the Scott trial on October 21aiming to get his 300cc Beta through the eighty sections then park it in hisgarage. Jack's next mount will be a jumbo jet and the long flight to NewZealand where he will work for three months as an agricultural engineer withhis pal Graham Clarkson (79). It will be second time round for Jack who works on the family farm for his father Robert. For Graham Clarkson it will be afirst time antipodean adventure. Hi I am just starting my 13 year old son on trials riding, we have purchased a Sherco 80 approx. 2004 which he enjoys riding and has mastered basic clutch/gears etc. My question is how do we start trialing? we have joined the ACU and I would like to enter him in some "easy" trials events to get him some confidence. We live in the Lancashire region and do not mind travelling. Can anybody give us some advice on how to get going?. Many thanks Richard.

The funeral service former scrambler and motorcycle importer and dealer Nev Mason took place on Tuesday 23 October at the Haltemprice Crematorium at Willerby, Hull. Nev Mason was a talented scrambler and took on the likes of Arthur Lampkin and Peter Fletcher in the sixties. He joined forces with Alan Voase to create an import business under the name of Neval Motorcycles that specialised in motorcycles from behind the Iron Curtain namely Russia and Poland. Talented Chesterfield trials rider Chris Milner lost his two year battle with pancreatic cancer last week. Former travelling partner Dave Thorpe broke the sad news on Monday (today). Chris and Dave travelled to trials together with their machines in the back of a Hillman Imp van. The funeral date is October 10th at 10.00 am the Brimmington Crematorium, Chesterfield.

I believe this is on this weekend ? A clubman two dayer it says so can anyone tell me level that is as I quite fancy it next year but seems there is clubman trials and clubman trials

Do the UK have any teams attending this year and who is in the teams ?

Hi all, I'm hoping someone can give me some advice/help concerning the following. I have ridden road bikes for over 20 years but 6 weeks ago had an operation to have a brain tumour removed. The tumour was in the visual part of the brain and the surgery means that I no longer have any peripheral vision on my right hand side. Sadly the vision loss applies to both eyes and so I can no longer hold a DVLA licence. The impairment means that I can't see anything to my right hand side which is frustrating because whilst I can physically ride a bike, I can't perceive hazards approaching thus it is too dangerous for me to either ride on a road or ride in close proximit…

Is anyone riding at either Shatterford or button oak tomorrow? I've been informed that Shatterford is too slippery to ride after its rained. I'm not sure what the conditions will be like as we've had some heavy showers over the past couple of days. Also I don't know what the access at Shatterford is like, my dad wants to come and watch (being a trials rider himself) but he is on crutches with a broken leg. I like riding button oak but I'm concerned that he won't be able to get down the slope from the road. If anyone has any advice I would be extremely grateful.

A while back I was given a rare copy of the book "Trials and Trials Riding" by A.B. Bourne, published in 1939. It was passed to me by a gentleman who had found it amongst his father's possessions and thought it would be of interest. He believes his father picked it up during his National Service and the book has "Orderly Room" written in pencil on the front and "Supplied for the public service" stamped inside the front cover which would support that theory. I've read it (it's amazing how little has changed) and it's now just gathering dust so I'll be donating it to the Scott Trial Charity Auction. Definitely one for a collector of Trials memorabilia.

The Government consultation on this closes at the end of the month. A petition has been set up via here http://www.fightvnuk.co.uk/petition.php and there is an update here http://www.mgcc.co.uk/vnuk-an-important-update/ , which seems to be more than the ACU has communicated. The petition needs 10,000 signatures to get a response from the Government and 100,000 to be considered for a debate in Parliament. It currently has just over 12,000 so will get a "response" but the numbers are hardly likely to persuade MPs that this is an important issue. There are petitions on the site that have absolutely no chance of success but still attract around half a million signatur…

Long shot maybe but I was wondering if anyone local could help me out, To cut a long story short I bought a bike that's a dog I think but I know nothing about trials so could do with someone just to listen to the motor etc and tell me it sounds o.k before I pull the rest of the bike apart. I don't want to start spending money and time on it turn up at my local pay and play for everyone to say motors rough.
