Our good friend Perce has been out getting some training in. He announced that he was 'mounted'! on a new bike this year, only to be reveiled at 'Weigh In'. Well the Paparazzi have been up in Swaledale and caught a snap of him on his new bike.......... Our other friend Kinnel, has sold his beloved Beta (Beta man through and through) so has not attended the SSDT since. He too has been caught on a new model and has vowed to return? This model is much quicker on the roads! he now wants to be known as ''The King of the Road''.................to Mallaig. He is currently testing fuel consumption

Tweet from the SSDT site says " ssdtoffice Here's a starter for you - Town Hall Brae may have a wee revamp by May...and it's getting used on both Monday and Saturday... " Hate to admit it, but I have dabbed it a time or two, however the last time I did ride it with a flat sack. I also remember Crosser doing a fancy bit of riding up there one year. Wonder what they have in store for the revamp?.

Ah with all the nice snow around prep for the SSDT has probably been hampered for most. Well by the time the snow has gone the local council might just be hampering us during the trial this year, see link below. http://www.lochaber-news.co.uk/news/fullst..._motorists.html This was in the local paper today GREAT!

This Ad on the TC Classifieds (I think 2 grand for a very tentative link to the SSDT is a bit optimistic!) reminded me... Back in my early days with the SSDT there used to be a car (a burgundy Peugeot I seem to recall) there every year with the Reg No "6 DAY". Anybody know who owned it and what became of it as I've not seen either car or Reg for yonks. At the time i thought it the coolest plate on the planet!

After reading HL's above post got me thinking how could you boost the entry in years when economy and such may have an effect on the entry numbers. What if Thur, Fri, Sat, were open for a three day event to fill the ranks of those riders who had gone out of the event in the first three days, even allow them to re enter if they have gone out due to bike failure if they can get their machine sorted. Some first timers may not want to take on the full trial to start with but may take on three days to see what it's like, and the older riders who think six days would just be too much, may jump at the chance to ride the last three days. By mid week spectators for the pre 65 h…

With the SSDT Centenary fast approaching, sponsors are now being sought for the 2010 SSDT. If you're interested in sponsoring a day, you can view our Sponsorship Flyer. Although this refers primarily to sponsorship of any given day, we also allow smaller sponsorship packages and are happy to consider any ideas that you may come up with. Daily sponsorship brings with it 5 guaranteed entries to the 2010 event, but please note that sponsorship must be confirmed by the time entries close on Friday 18th December if you want to take advantage of that part of the deal! If you want any further details you'll find our contact details on the brochure, or you can email us at the …

Some of you will remember all my gurning last year when I cycled from Glasgow to Edinburgh for charity....well, I can't have gurned enough, because this year we've got an SSDT squad doing the same thing! Mark Whitham (Clerk of the Course), Davy Robinson and Ian Boyd (Assistant Clerks of the Course, aka The Beardies) and myself are taking up the challenge once again, and along with some companions that we've bribed to join us, we're cycling from Glasgow to Edinburgh on Sunday 13th September as part of the Pedal For Scotland fundraising extravaganza. As many of you will know, the SSDT regularly has to call on the services of the Lochaber Mountain Rescue squad to help us o…
