Hi all. I'm currently rebuilding a 1955 DOT TDH I'm hoping to use for some pre 65 trials. It has the Earls type front forks. Not sure what to go with for shock absorbers. I got hold of some TLR 200 rears, and they are about the right length at 390mm, but one of them is dead, so they are not much use other than for keeping the front end together. Anyone got something laying around that might fit, or any suggestions? I don't want to spend too much on shocks initially, as it may take some experimenting to see exactly what is right for the bike.

Hi all, new to the forum and have my first query, hope somebody can help. Is it possible to fit TY250 yokes in a bantam frame and, how is it done ? I have been looking for forks for my trials bantam for some time now, without much luck, and will not go to the expense of REH although they do look very well engineered. Anyway i have acquired some TY yokes and hope to start from there, any thoughts ?

  5. My TK carb is just worn out on my Yamaha mono TY. I'm looking into replacing it with the old stand bye, the Mikuni VM26. I had read that Jon S. had success with these. Does anyone know the jetting specs for a Mikuni VM26? Thank you for your help.

Hi fellow Fantic fans. I have a Fantic 200 (fm350) and wanted to know how to set the Delourto phb25 carb up right. When people talk about the idle screw being turned out 2 3/4 times are they reffering to the big Idle screw, or the fuel screw next to it. If so what is the best setting for the fuel screw. Also the needle being on the 3rd notch, is that the 3rd notch from the top or the bottom of the needle.

Hi, my rear hub brake needs relining, the new pads do not engage with the hub enough to work. Can anyone recommend someone that can remove and replace the existing liner. Its a Bultaco Sherpa T, 1966 ish. Local to Oxfordshire / South of the UK would be a bonus, but Im happy to travel to get working rear brake. Thanks

  8. Interesting.. everything about trials.. bikes and the people , are interesting. Some of these older twin shock bikes are as old as me.. how in the world do you guys find parts to keep them going ? Just wondering about? Say I found an older gas gas ? (1999) A 270 to be exact.. will I be able to get parts ? Someone told me it would be difficult.. but, then I see these old classics restored.. They are beautiful 😍 what's strange to me is... Why do I have an opinion? I know what looks/ style of bike I like. I like the looks of the gas gas bikes.. We'll, truthfully.. they all look basically the same to me. Maybe it's because I like to say "Gas Gas" ..?…

I thought people might get a kick out of this US based catalog from 1977. Prices (USD) appear to have gone up a bit since then. https://newenglandtrials.com/thetryalsshope/

Can anyone help with advice. I have a Majesty 320 which I have had from new but not ridden since 1988. I am in the process of stripping it down for painting, new bearings etc. The forks have a large hex top cap in them which seems very stiff. I'm not sure how to dissemble them either. I will need to strip them down to refill and maybe fit new seals, and also the top of them is slightly pitted and could do with re-chroming. I think the bike, built by John Shirt, was a TY250, bored out with a bigger flywheel so the forks will be TY250 1978-ish. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi everyone. I have a trials tiger cub running a 14 tooth front sprocket and a 64 tooth rear sprocket and a 428 chain. The gearing is perfect for trials but I had a plan do some occasional green laning so my thoughts was to replace the rear sprocket with a 52 tooth for green lanes and revert it back to the 64 tooth for trials. On fitting the 52 tooth rear sprocket the chain was touching the top of the swing arm pivot point. Even with me sitting on the bike and compressing the suspension the chain was still slightly touching. With the 64 tooth sprocket fitted there is a 7mm gap. I guess that the other option is to replace the front sprocket for a larger one (such as a 17 t…

I'm over in California and have been looking at a couple of vintage monos. One is a 1983 TY 250 and the other is a 1985 TY 350 . I've been told to steer away from these bikes as parts are almost non-existent (top ends, bottom ends, clutch, etc.). I've been told the 250 is a better bike but the 350 is in better condition. Any advice you can give would be much appreciated. I'm a novice rider, weigh 60kg, and I currently ride a 1974 TY 250. I'm looking for another vintage trials bike that is a bit more plush to ride and I'd like the parts availability to do a full rebuild if it comes to that. My local club has a provisional class for the monos so I'd still be able t…

  16. My recently purchased 1975 Yamaha Ty250 appears to have an enlarged aftermarket reed valve intake. I had to cut a new carb to air cleaner boot by about 15mm to get it to fit without crimping. Does anyone know what brand of aftermarket "performance" reed valve upgrade blocks would have been common back in the day. Or does anyone know of someone who still provides a block and reeds that would fit? My current reeds are frayed and broken.

  17. Can anyone recognize/ID these fork trees? They're on a TL125 with 34mm KT250 forks but the clamps are from neither of the above. The top unit keeps cracking so it's time to try to locate a replacement. Thanks for any help! John in NC USA

Hello All Im brand new out here, just bought a nice 74 Sherpa T 350, just a few things to get organized on the bike, the rear tire is rubbing on muffler, tire is correct size, is it something as simple as bending muffler tab a bit? Also is electronic ignition the way to go on these bikes, its a hard starter. Thanks
