1993 Beta Synt 260 Runs very rich, I clean it out and it's a very strong runner, but shut it off, or ride slow and it loads back up. Mikuni carb 135 Main EJ5CD needle on second clip Air screw 2 turns out BP7ES Spark plug Very hard to see any numbers on the pilot jet, OE 05? but the holes in the pilot are HUGE compared to my dirt bike. Previous owner said it does not like the cold weather, I had it out on a much nicer day and I cant remember it loading up like it is now (48 deg.) Is there an outlet for getting jets for this bike, in case I need smaller jets? Thanks Chuck

I am new owner of a 1993 Beta Trials bike and trying to figure out some things on it. Previous owner didn't know much about it and never even added gas - he was just flipping the bike. I'm not even sure what model bike it is - it shows Tipo B6 and OL9401 on the tag, no headlight, white rear fender, orange front fender and around a 250cc according to the seller. I found the 1991 manual online that one shows a 2% fuel mixture - which I assume to mean 50:1? But, most of these forums say to run 70 or 80:1, with a higher octane fuel (around 100 octane if I can get it). Most of those threads are referring to newer bikes. If I'm using Lucas Semi-synthetic 2 stroke oil (si…

Still getting to know my 1993 Beta Gara... The fuel tap, carefully designed to be positioned as inaccessibly as possible, now horizontal is off, vertical is on, but slightly over centre...? Is that reserve...? Or just a broken fuel tap?

I just had the most patronising of conversations with a trials riding bloke who answered all my questions with "well, what do you think...?" and a tone which didn't need to state "you idiot" at the end of every reply. Disappointing both as a fellow biker, and somebody getting back into trials riding. Anyway, I'm returning to riding a trials bike for the first time since the 1970s. I had a TL 150 back then. I've just bought a 1993 Beta Zero Gara. In between I've had road bikes and trail bikes of all descriptions, including sticky clutch jobbies. I'm sure if I spent a day trawling Google I'd find some answers, but I'm hoping here might be more productive, faster.…

Just getting to know my 1993 Gara, my first trials bike. Doesn't seem to take much to provoke the carb to start weeing fuel. Seller said they all do that if left with fuel tap on ... or idling ... or just after it's switched off ... or just after I turn the fuel tap on ... or until I turn the fuel tap off... Bike starts, idles and runs fine. This fuel dumping something I just get used to, or is it time for a carb service....?

Hi All, I've just purchased my first ever Trials bike a 1994 Beta Techno with a Dellorto carb and wondered which position the choke is on, It seems to run in either position but better when up, I see from previous threads that later Technos are up when the choke is on are the earlier ones the same?.

Hi all, My bike is a 1994 Beta Techno 250, my first ever motorbike! I tried to start it a few months ago and it was making a crunch noise when i kicked it hard enough, the engine was turning over but refused to start and skidded when I tried to bump it. Upon further investigation i found a large crack near the kickstart in the case, so i bought new cases and swapped everything over all going well. Until a nut on the cylinder barrel started to spin, not tightening nor loosening, the bike has a fair bit of compression and could start (I think, but I'm far from a mechanic), after feeling for compression and to make sure everything felt right before kicking i…

Hi! First, sorry my bad English, I recently got a 1995 beta techno that came with a Paioli USD fork. When I was cleaning it, I noticed that it had some electrical tape between this metal part where the dust seal is mounted an the fork legs. When I removed it I noticed that this metal parts can spin and my question is if this is normal on this kind of forks. I'm attaching a picture I found online so it's easier to understand. I still haven't used the bike as I'm still repairing it but I guess the previous owner put that tape because it was losing oil from that joint? Thank you!

Hi, I have what i think is a 1995 or 1994 beta techno 250 and it has a dellorto carb and it continues to overflow. I have replaced the float needle and the needle seat and i have replaced the floats aswell but when i tried bending the tabs it would either overflow or it wouldnt get any gas at all. Im stumped on what to do im not sure if i need to replace the carb or what.

Having a problemn with the carb (Dellorto PHBH26) on my 95 techno. Originally it was cutting out after running fine for half an hour or so. From reading on here it seems like it would be worth checking the stator plate and windings, which I will do. The carb is overflowing as well so has anyone got any settings for float level and a method of doing it? From Dellorto website I have found a height of 24mm from bottom of float to gasket face, finding this quite tricky to measure accurately, does anyone have any secrets to doing this? Thanks Jerry

Been riding my bike this summer but am not happy with the carb setup, it is running very rich, signs of this are always being able to start bike without choke, spooge galore and have to rev like three to four long full throttle blast to clean up, then the engine loads up quickly after. I am running 75:1 with very good synthetic two stroke oil (Motul). I do have a little experience with jetting motocross bikes but I see a big difference here, we can read a plug with the motocross as it is pinned out most of the time whereby the trials bike is running slower rpm's so thinking this would be tough to see through color. I have not checked which jet I am running or needle pos…
