Should I be wanting a Beta Evo.. Had a quick go on a mates Rev3 yesterday and quite liked it. The build quality and spec seems better than my Sherco? Just wondering what are the pros and cons of Beta ownership and which model to go for. And will I ever really get used to the left kick. Just thinking out loud really, as I know someone else can't choose a bike for me. just a thought on other peoples experiences?

I have just bought my first trials - a 250 rev3. It requires a new throttle as there is no spring return on it and it is a fast action throttle. As a complete beginner should I go for a slow action throttle?

Hi, I've just sold my 2000 270. Before I sold it it was running perfectly and had just been serviced with a new plug, filter, oil, etc prior to the lad coming to have a look at it. The lad rode it at my place taking it all the way through the gears - rang his mate who had a Beta for any advice and was happy to take it away. He had it for a few days and he said it was running perfectly. He decided to drain the tank and alter the oil/gas mix - I had it at 75:1, he went for 70:1 - cleaned out the carb and changed cleaned the plug. As soon as he had done all this the bike - he says - ran like a pig; OK upto a third throttle then lumpy and misfiring. He told me he phoned hi…

Many have helped out and commented/advised on my dilema so sorry to labour this one but it really is doing my head in......... Long story short, rear caliper seized during a comp and overheated. Was never 100% happy with the rear brake so have set about overhauling it. Changed the pedal assemble and refurbed the master cylidar with a rubber kit. Attempted to refurb the caliper but one pot would not go in even without a seal so suspected that over time the overheating had warped the caliper body slightly. So purchased a brand new caliper and pads from Lampkins and attempted to fit that a few nights ago. Have spent 3hrs bleeding it with and can not get decent pedal pressur…

My rev 250 has been causing me unwanted headaches. The last couple of times out I have had a hell of a job getting it started from cold. When it dose start it coughs and pops like a good un. The plug has been oiled up when removed. I am using a mix of 100 cc to 5L is this too rich ? When I replace the plug with a new one it seems to do the trick for a short while then its back to square one . My main concern is when the bike is ticking over it pops constantly unlike other rev 3s Ive listened too...... Any ideas ? p.s I have done the carb mods on r2w ,s site

Hi I bought my new beta evo 300 factory 2t about a month ago and about after 5 hours use I started having a fault with the bike! It would start and run with the choke on but when I put the choke off it would just die! Would only run with it on then after a few minutes it would clear and seen to be ok again! This fault has developed and now I'm down in power and it Bogs down dies then slowly gets better but not 100%! The last time it happend I quickly checked the fuel filter and it was completely empty just a trickle of fuel just enough to keep it running and no more then loads of air bubbles and some fuel started to fill the filter again! But not enough still down in powe…

I have been looking for a Beta 250 4t, however a 300 4t has come along - can anybody offer any advice on a 300? Is it going to be too big and heavy for a novice? Can I still fit a slow throttle to tame it down a bit and 'grow into it' as my skills develop? I don't want to be learning on something that is going to pull my arms off! I had a Rev3 250 2t so it's not like I have never ridden before (plus I've always had road bikes). I am looking for a bike to get back in to trials (I've had a little go before - I had a Rev3 250) I asked some questions on an earlier thread... http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/59928-bike-choice-advice-help-2t-or-4t-etc-etc/ …

I searched the forum for a post on changing fork seals on my beta but only found this http://www.shercousa...placement-1.pdf . Is the beta very different from the sherco? will i need a "fork seal driver" as is used in the link? Is there a more relevant link? Looking at the link i feel reasonably confident of being able to do the job but is it best left to a garage? If it will cost me less than £40 i think i would let somebody else have the hassle Also, while the forks are off i thought about putting stronger springs in as im a 125kg rider. is this worth doing? how much would the springs cost? I want to get her ready for my first outing on her next saturday at the pro…

Finally narrowing down the problem with my Non Working Fan. I have put the fan across a 12v supply and spins fine. I have put a multimeter across the sender switch while in boiling water all OK. I have checked the resistance through the voltage Regulator from yellow to blue and then connecting the 2 blues together simulating the fan switch on, there is a circuit from yellow to black on the fan multi plug withblack and red wires nothing on red, this i believe tells me that this critter is OK or is this not the case?? Now if this is the case, is it the windings on the charge circuit side of the stator? (Bike Runs Fine) If so where can I get it rewound in the UK or the …

Hi all, OK..I've had some problems with my old 2002 Beta recently. It starts fine, ticks over lovely, and runs OK...UNTILL you get to about 1 quarter throttle, and then it blubbs really badly. Tried cleaning carb, airbox etc., several times, and didnt make any difference. SO..started to look a bit further, and on taking out the reed 'block' I noticed the upper reed valves, and the metal springy bit that kind of holds them in was all scorched. Do any of you have any idea what would have caused that, and do you think it could also be the cause of my blubbing...(the bike blubbs, not me!) THanks in advance for all your wisdom.

Just like to share these mods that I've done to my Beta Evo Keihin PWK28 carb's. This was an attempt to stop the carb running out of fuel during steep or long climbs, If it was preceeded by a sharp drop, it was even worse. There are reports that the same thing happens to these Keihin carbs on the KTM Freeride's. The following mods seem a bit and#39;last resort' so always check the simple stuff first, like float levels, clear breather hoses, particularry on the Evo's where one pipe runs up the frame towards the petrol cap. This can easily get blocked with mud or water or filled up from a jetwash. Disclaimer- I'm not saying these mods will be a cure all for everyone bu…

There's a general consensus around these parts that the Beta 200 is the ideal bike for novices and other riders of limited ability. The trouble is, in the secondhand market, 200s are as rare as virgins in Essex. So I got to wondering what it would take to tame a 250 down to 200 level. You can get low compression heads at modest cost. How much difference do they really make? What about retarding the ignition? For sure it would reduce peak power to a manageable level, but would it then hurt the responsiveness or the ability to trickle around on next-to-no revs? Is it even possible with the CDI ignition?

  15. hello guys, just bought a 2001 rev3 250 and i want to know what modifications have been made to the rev3 through the years i know mine is the one with the stupid airbox, airfilter. i also know mine is the one with the mikuni carb. the dellorto carb comes from 2004 on? and if i want to change my airbox with the newer model can i simply do that or it doesn't fit? also are is the frame the same til 2008? i haven't been riding it since i have to do some work on it, but i read that the mikuni carb has a problem stalling, i found an dellorto phbs26 at a very cheap price, i think that model is from the gasgas txt, will it fit? thanks in advance

Whats the trick to get the bearings out of the wheels? I took the rear wheel off and tried to get the bearings outbut no go. I see there is a inner spacer that has a bit of a lip on it. I attempted to tap on it to push the far side bearing out but the spacer is really soft and the metal started to smear so I stopped. I ended up pulling the dust cover off the bearings and cleaning them the best I could (the grease in there was really dried out) and packing fresh grease in. That did help a lot with the wheel spinning a lot freer but I'd really like to put fresh bearings in both the front and rear. The outer spacers on the rear where a bugger to get out so I'm thinki…

At one of our recent get togethers we had a discussion on how to properly (or improperly) pronounce Beta. Some of the answers seemed to depend on which region of the world you originated from. So I figured it would be interesting to throw it out to the TC members. Maybe someone connected to Beta can provide a more official answer.

I'll apologise from the outset for my ignorance, I'm not the most mechanically minded person but am willing to give anything try. I want to clean my carb on my 2002 REV3 250 but am clueless. 1) Do I need to drain the fuel before taking the carb out or is the fact tat the fuel tap is off enough? 2) Will anything leak once I have taken the carb out? 3) Can the carb be cleaned in its entirety or does it then have to be broken down further? 4) Will spraying the carb with carb cleaner and then running it through with compressed air be enough? Sorry for all the questions but I don't want to mess it up, pictures or an idiots guide would be useful.... 'Cos I'm a mechanica…
