“There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.” Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy In my never ending quest to improve my Beta (and ignore the fact that I’m the weak link) I’ve been thinking about the generally accepted weakness or at least variable feel of the Beta rear brake. It uses the same master cylinder as the other bikes. The caliper is not particularly different. I can only come up with one big difference between Beta and the other b…

I just came home from riding to find coolant dripping from right under the water pump, I have read there is a weep hole there that will drip if the outer water pump shaft seal in going bad. I see no evidence of water in the motor oil so I assume the inner water pump seal is still sealing. After looking up what parts I need I can only find one part number, but there are two seals. 1. Does anyone know if you order the one number and it comes as a kit with two seals? Or do I order two of that part number and they are the exact same seals? 2. I see there is a special water pump shaft removal tool. Do I need it or can I just dig the old seals out carefully? 3. …

Hello, I'm new here and I have just purchased a Beta TR33, with the 239 cc engine, from 1986. The bike has been stored in a garage for the last five years and we didn't try to start it since the kick start lever was removed. The engine went around fine and compression seemed very good though. I don't even have the bike home yet but when checking it at the sellers place I noticed a few things: 1. The rear suspension had quite slow return. The spring seemed fine but the damper probably needs service. How servicable are those? Nitrogen filled or just oil? 2. The front break needed quite some pumping to build pressure. I didn't see any leaks so I guess this is becau…

Hi Inmates, I have a question on the EVO 250 2014 , OK so this is my first trials bike and I have to say compared to my MX / Enduro the barrel from the outside looks more like a 125 then a 250. I know that in order to be 100% you need to take the head off and measure the bore but can anyone confirm that their EVO 250 engine barrel externally is around 11.5 cm wide. That would help put my mind at rest that its not a 125 or 200. If there is any other way to determine the cc of the engine externally that would be useful to know, thanks.

I've been considering a cylinder head spacer for my 2000 Rev3 270. When I see videos of folks (granted, on much more modern bikes) it almost seems like they just let the weight of their leg fall on the lever and it starts. And I'm jealous, I feel like I have to hulk out on mine and put my full body weight on it. I'm also coming off an injury (dual broken wrists), so I'm sure there's some strengthening to do as well, but it was a beast to start before my injuries, too. So, I'm thinking a head spacer may do the trick. I'm not worried about the loss in power, a 270 is *more* than enough for a novice trial rider like me. I found this thread from 2013 that menti…

Previously rode a Cota 4rt and just moved to a 2023 EVO 300 4t. My Montesa had a fast throttle. I'm wondering what the 300 comes with stock. Off the throttle, the 300 feels sluggish compared to my Cota. Thoughts? Should I install the domino fast throttle?

Hi all, just picked a little Beta rev 50 up for my son to start trials on. Does anyone know what sort of temp the fan should come on? He rode it yesterday and it didn’t come on at all but it was a cold day. The fan works if I close the circuit at the thermostat so maybe it’s duff thermostat? Other question is what sort of premix ratio is good for these little Betas? Regards Ian

hi all, i'm having a stressful issue with my trials bike. the idling rpm is wildly inconsistent, sometimes will lower down to a total stall, sometimes will keep raising rpm on its own. nothing i have tried changes anything. when it does idle to where it sounds somewhere decent i will go to apply throttle, sometimes bogs, sometimes doesn't. on the occasions it doesn't it will rev up and stay at hight revs for a good couple minutes even when i only gave it the one blip of the throttle, it will very slowly and gradually make its way back down to idle. i've had the carb off and cleaned a million times over, tried vacuum leak testing (none from what i could tell) and…

Anyone already do a cross check for new (or more available used) rear caliper for the 2004REV 250? None available (USA ) but maybe there is another bike/brand also using the same AJS/Braktec rear? I know some scooters used them too but not sure models. Joe
