Strange, just been getting her ready to drop off to be blasted and powdered coated and was checking the frame number details and found blue under the black, odd? The blue paint is 'in' the frame numbers suggesting it has may of been blue from new, yes, she could of been blasted & repainted back years ago but I know from doing this myself with very fine beads it can be a very difficult to get the old paint 'out' of the numbers. This attracted my interest and further inspection shows some more of this blue in some of the deeper frame treads where bolts don't seat right in and take the paint 'out'. I've heard the use of blue frames was something to sponsership by 'Pernod'......or am I wrongly assuming its anything to do with a drink as I used to like a stiff Pernod and black when I was a yoof ...this bottle of my favorite Caister Soul Weekender tipple isn't really in SWM colours ...although from memory before mixing Pernod is a pale yellow as it is in this photo (unless it's someones 'sample') and there is blue in the 'Paris' on the bottle...bit tenuous though

As the title guys, the only twinshock i've owned was a late white frame sherpa....which i never gelled with so only having modern gear....monty and beta 250's what should i look for? Models to avoid....125 any good....few hills in norfolk parts availabilty...engine...cables...bushes....controls plastics easy to find riding experience rotary or reed valve anything else you can think of many thanks gentleman

You guys have been a great source of help amazing me with your SWM knowledge and patience with a rookie like myself to the world of the Italian Speedies, but I have another favour to ask. I believe this TL320 pictured is a 1980....then met a guy yesterday into old twinshocks whom tells me from his memory that a 1980 SWM should be yellow with black frame (tick) but that the frame should have under engine frame tubes intact (ohh), SWM's loosing the lower under engine tubes in 1981...I should add the fella did say that 34 years on his memory could be wrong and that he owned a 1981 Gori, can any one help? I thought Gori's were always a year behind the SWM's so this one pict…

Anyone know if there are any difference to the steering angles between a Black 1981 SWM frame, (with full mudguard loop) and a 1983 Blue frame without rear frame loop ?

Hi all I have 2 TL320´s that are both leaking oil from the kickstart shaft / gear change shaft. They both have had the seals changed and the Oring for the gear lever changed. Sometimes they drip a lot from the gear change shaft and sometimes a bit from the kick start shaft. Other days they don´t leak at all. If the bikes lean away fromthe shat´s they usually stay dry (shame that the side stand is on this side). Any tips welcome !

This week I was lucky enough to buy a 1979 Gunaco only to find out today that in fact I have bought a nice bike with a completly knackered motor. It did rattle a little on the test ride but after stripping it down we found everything hugely worn and needs replacing plus a rebored etc etc etc. Plus when we lent it over to look at the clutch it lost oil from a cracked casing behind the engine sprocket, where a chain has jumped at some time. It was sold as only needing a make over with assurances the motor was sound and in good nick. To the sellers credit after a quick phone call he has agree to take it back and reimburse and or participate in putting the engine right …

Hi all, The main bearings in my Jumbo are growling suggesting needing new ones. Question is - do I have to split the cases to replace like the bultaco engine? Anything I should look out for whilst replacing these? Thanks in advance! Markg

Hi all, I´m thinking of moving the condensor up under the petrol tank so that it can easily be changed. Anyone done this ? I suppose you can just join the three wires where the condensor normaly is and then fit the condensor in the blue wire to the HT coil (or not) ?

Just bought a 1981 jumbo bike runs fine for fist half hour the cuts out at low revs.It then will only start using the choke. It runs ok at high revs but cuts out at low revs. Anbody got any sugestions wether the problem is carb,coil or condensor. Any advice appreciated. Thanks JGM

A real noddy question I know but can someone tell me how to remove the condensor on my 1982 SWM 320? It looks like it is the original so has never been removed and it won't budge. I just can't see how it comes out of the mounting plate. Thanks Chris

whilst competing sunday, on 2 separate occasions i had a nasty sounding noise from the gearbox.i sounds like a gear is trying to mesh with the one that is already in use. gear selection is fine. chain and sprockets are fine,ie not loose. was not kickstart being held back onto ratchet. obviously got to be opened up, am just after any clues once inside. thanks.

guys any ideas on piston suppliers for rotax trials engines, do wiseco do any thing suitable ? going to make a big effort to get bike sorted next year , just stuck at the moment on finding rotax parts since peter knight retired.
