OSET Electric Trials Bikes

The Stratford-Upon-Avon Club will be running a Saturday afternoon trial specifically for Conducted riders with class D and the NEW CLASS E licences. The trial will take place at Saintbury Quarry near Broadway on Saturday 19th June starting at 2pm. There will be two routes on offer with trophies presented on the day to the best rider on each route. The emphasis on the event is to provide a FUN afternoon with sections suitable for the smallest young trials riders away from the distractions of a normal club trial. I bought a used Oset at the weekend for my son. Its a 12.5 model. I put it on charge and let him have a bit of a go out the front of our house as its very quiet. After a few minutes the bike would barely pull him up a small hill in the road. I put it on charge when we got in and it was on for about 8 hours but the red LED on the charger never turned green to say it was fully charged. I took it off charge and lifted the back wheel whilst I turned the throttle. I held it for about 30 seconds and you could hear the wheel gradually turning slower. The following day I left it on charge over night and still no green light. Do you recon the battery needs replacing? When I lifte…

Apologies that this topic is not specifically Oset related but I figured I'd get the best response and feedback on the Oset forum. Whilst at the WTC this weekend saw loads of the kids riding on the Oset and wondered where the best place is to get trials clothing for a 4 1/2 year old. Looks like the Fox Pee Wee boots are best bet, especially in infant size 10 but what about trousers / shirt?? My son has the Wulf gear already but I saw MOTS, Fox and clice (among others) being worn. Can as Oset rider (or parent) advise where you can get gear this size?? Seen a few places selling Fox MX kit which looks fine but give b*gger all info on sizing other than 'youth small' etc…

Hello, Just fired up the other 20 and... 1. No battery lights showing, but going like a rocket 2. Rear tyre keeps coming off the rim (!) Anyone experienced same? Cheers CG

Our 4 year old has been riding his 12.5 since he was 3. This spring, for the first time, we noticed that he was looking a little big on the 12.5, at least when he stands up. Finally, a few weeks ago, my wife mentioned that she had turned the speed to full, and he was still looking like he wanted more. I am hoping this will be obvious to someone but I can't figure what the power dial does? I got the new oset 20 home yesterday first ride and my 9 yo daughters straight away asking for all the dials to be turned up. Now at 100% on speed switch. The lower setting is 75% apparently. The "uptake" dial at half way so the throttles not too snappy (this is great feature) The power dial is a mystery. Same speed and acceleration when twisted low or high? What is it supposed to do? I am worried its broken as the bike is not as crazy a i heard they were. No power wheelies here or scared kid at full throttle. I recon my modded 16 running on 33.6v lipo is as quick. Any pointers …

Hi just got my lad a oset 16 fully charged it up all 3 lights on the throttle grip after a bit he stop I noticed it went on to 2 red lights and lost power fast but never went down to 1 red light is this right thanks

Just interested in how old people's kids are when they start riding an oset 12.5?? I'm forward planning ( saving money ) for my boys 2nd birthday ( next year ). Just thought I'd enquire the average age of kids getting started and does anyone use stabilisers to start them off?? He's on a balance bike already at 14 months and loves watching me on my 4rt and trials DVDs, so I would like to get him started as soon as I can.

Hi all. Another question............. As I have both the 16 36v and the 12.5 (both 2010 models), can anyone suggest a battery that will increase the running time on the 12.5. Do I need to look for a larger amp hours battery? The 12.5 appears to lose power after about 1hr of on/off running, but still work (albeit slowly) the 16 on the other hand is still rocketing off. Also another quick question. Will the 600w motor from the 16 fit the 12.5 (with a change of batteries)? Sorry for these questions, but the smaller of the 2 children gets a bit frustrated at his brother roaring (albeit silently) off into the distance. Many thanks Andy

Hi all, Ty rode his 12.5 about a week ago with no issues. Today we went to ride, and I found no lights on the throttle, and no power. I thought maybe the charger hadn't been fully seated, and reconnected it, but the charger remained green, and no power came to the throttle. Things I've done: Checked the main fuse above the battery which was good Checked voltage across both batteries (~12v) and the two together ~24 Tried to check resistance across the key switch,( which I was suspect of) I expected to find no current with switch off, and no resistance with switch on, but I couldn't get any current in either position. Hi Has anyone else had this problem with their Oset? My Son was riding in a trial when the bike stopped, Red indicator light showed 3 Reds,Dropping to 1 when any throttle was applied.Further investigation revealed that the chain had come off, I refitted the chain to the rear sprocket but noticed that their was approx 25 mm of play in the chain at mid position. I adjusted out the play to 1-2 mm as per manual,This was a very big adjustment on the rear wheel, I am used to making slight adjustment that are required to eliminate the chain touching the plastic chain guard. Upon turning the throttle the Red light dropped to 1 with only a slight Forward movement of the Bike.…

I have a Spider 16 which hasnt been used for a long time. Im trying to charge the batteries just to see if the bike actually works as its new to me. I know im gonna have to get new batteries anyway. The charger when connected to the mains just show a green light, the online manual suggests it should be red then green when batteries are charged, this one is green without being connected to any batteries. Any ideas?

Does anyone know of an alternative rear tyre to the Kenda 2.7 x 16 for the Oset 16"? Ideally one which is a bit knobblier as they seem to struggle on muddy sections with the lighter riders on them. Also the mechetechno 12" seems to have more traction? I wonder if this is due to better frame design or/ shock is better quality??

I just got a used 20, the batteries are pretty much shot but rode it 3 times for 10 ish mins. The foot peg mounts are bending and the bolts are coming loose. Im a little over the weight limit at 240. wondering if I shouldn't just weld some on or is there another way? I have a CNC in my garage so I may try making some brackets that use all 4 mounting holes before i perm mod this thing. Also wondering what the recommended AGM batteries are. i cant spend 1k on a battery upgrade right now since I was lucky enough to find 3 used osets in the last month. My 8 year-old son enjoys trials events on his 36v 20" Oset but also has the desire to "go fast". So, is like to get more speed out of his bike. I know that larger rear sprockets are available but have not found smaller sprockets. Also looking for 20" street tires. Any advice or leads are appreciated.

Hi guys, I will ask the question on this thread as it to do with electric bikes, and the question is what is a 25Kw motor bike ? my friend is filling in a license application form to obtain a motor bike license in which one of the tick boxes reads are you applying for a provisional license to ride up to a 25Kw bike he asked me how big is that, but I don't have a clue, does anybody have any pointers on this.

HI all, Havent had a real CLOSE look at the grips on my daughters bike yet, but just wondered are they easy enough to change? At a glance, the throttle one seems to be all one unit, with the electric gizmo/charging light bit? Would like to change them coz the original seems so big for my daughters hand, and no grip on them. Gonna try to put renthals on there. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hope you can help. I have a 48v 20" that has 1 damaged battery. I want to charge the other three, can this be done on the bike with the 48v charger or is that a bad idea? If I get the three charged will it run (even if at lower power) just to show the motor works before I sell it? Thanks
