Hi all I am new to. All this so please excuse what might be an obvious question I have been looking at the Puma in issue 17 of Classic Dirt Bike and noticed that the rear hub appears to have the 'brake' on the right hand side. I have just bought a 325 and would like to convert to a LH shift and thought that seemed a better solution than running a cable to the standard hub. Can anyone tell me more like what the hub is off and how much hassle it might be to fit it. Thanks .... Rob

hello all im geting a electronic igniton from bultaco uk. for my 199A anybody any idea if there easy to fit? allso whats the best spark plug. and what should the gap be? im having troubel starting her up. have to put fuel down the head.and she starts up and runs ok. just whants the tick over and air scerw ajusting please can anybody help.

Dear Anyone, I am rebuilding my Frontera 370cc model 215 MK11. Am at the stage of putting the swing arm back in. The swing arm spindle has on it not only the swing arm but also the rear engine mount. I notice that when the rear engine mount is in place on the swing arm spindle there is a space on either side of it; i.e. the rear engine mount can move to the left or the right on the swing arm spindle. Is that right? It seems to me that the back end of the engine ought ot be fixed and not prone to lateral movement no matter how small so have I missed out something when I am putting it all back together? I've noted all the stuff I took of but can't find any spacers or washe…

hi all i can onely get my 199A started by puting fuel down the head. ive put new bing carb on witch came with wrong jets. now ive put the right jets in still same. once ive got her going she runs. the inlet pipe is on the right side. and ive got a inline fiter witch some times i have to mess about with to get the fuel going throw. but when ive took the plug of befor puting fuel down the head its been abit wet. ive set the air screw one and a half turns anti clock wise. and playd about with the tick over screw.ive only ajusted the throtel ajuster on the bars. and on top of the carb i need help please

Does someone sell rear sprockets on line? I'm told the wheel is from a 1971 Alpina. Chain size is 428. ID about 5.75, 6 bolts, 3 pins about 8mm, bolt/ pin circle about 6.375, shallow counter bore. The wheel is on a BSA C15 and I'm looking for a big sprocket up near 80 tooth. I could even do the ID and bolt circle machining if sprocket blanks were available in that size.

I'd like to replace the 1.85 rear rim on my 199A with a 2.15. There is very little clearance on either side. Does anyone have any experience with this?

hello, I need to jump right in with a question. I tried a few searches but am coming up empty handed. So, my Bultaco Sherpa T appeared complete when I got it, and months later when I get to maaking it run I realize a few parts are missing. The side cover was put back on to look complete, even though the clutch rod and ball bearing were missing, and the flywheel nut was missing. I also failry certain one my sleeve gear bushes (111-047) is missing. I can see one way down on the shaft, but not near the end, and I have what seems like too much play on my sprocket shaft. My questions are- am I missing one based on this photo? Where can I buy one- I have had zero …

hi all ive got a 199A 350. year 1980 i took the engin out for rebuild. when i put the engin back in the frame. i replaced it with the metel one witch was ok. my question is the one i took out was alloy was this an original? are was it a mod?

Any decent footrests available for the Sherpa that don't involve serious welding/machining/fettling or is this the only option?

hi all whats the best size spocket to have on me 199A? i curantly have the standard 39T rear and the 11T front. ive not done any trials since i was at school. that was along time a go ah. will the ones ive got on now be ok for a beginer?

much help needed. ive just finished my 199A and my front sprocket is leaking. so i changed the seal behind the front sprocket and the o ring and the metal bush. i replaced the sprocket and it was still leaking. it is leaking from the final end drive. so i replaced the seal on the end of the gear shaft. it is still leaking slightly but can you advise that this is normal for bultacos?

hi all i have a 199A i was woundering if i could fit a speedo? but my front hub dosant have a conetion for the cabel. is there somthing you can get for the rear wheel? so you can conect the cabel?

hello all can anybody addvice me on witch gasket sealant to buy? ive got a verry slight leak on the clutch case ive gone through tree gaskets now. cant understand why its leaking was ok when i first built the bike but since i took it back off to do the clutch its got a leak. so for good measure gonner put abit of sealant on. ive look on the net what avalabel theres loads to choose. would i be better with a non setting sealant so if i need to take the cover off for any reason i wont need to be hammering it off. please help

Hey boys and girls I have recently had a big ish prang on my 76 sherpa and have slightly bent the rear rim and popped half a dozen spokes my hub also needs to be relinned Does anyone Know of a reasonable person to straighten and rebuild the wheel and reline the hub? Ideally bristol area but i will send off if needed also i could do with it being done asap as i have no other bike to ride. Many thanks James

i need your help please im struggling to put a new seal in the final end drive of the front sprocket. its doning my head in ive nearly finished my 199A and somthing so small is getting the better of me. it was leaking oil so ive changed the seal and bush behide the sprocket and o ring. im abit confused witch way the final end seal gose? normaly seals go with the open end inwards. but pete from bultaco uk said it gose in with the open end facing outwards? ive tryed taping it in but seem to damage the seal so your help would be mutch appriceated

Hi Can anyone advise? I am disappointed that the standard Betor fork dust protectors don't really do their job (yes I fitted new ones!). OK, they they stop the majority of the muck getting in but are not as effective as the current design on my Gas Gas. So I have been searching the internet for 35mm x 47mm dust seals (similar to the Gas Gas)to replace the standard fittings. I know from the pictures that the Spanish Puma bikes use this system so I would appreciate help in finding a supplier. I have tried Pyramid Parts without success. Further, due to the nature of the design does this new type dust seal replace the top seal(leaving only 1 seal per leg)or do I need t…

My Sherpa has run well for a couple of trials but last weekend decided to 'eat' another piston thrust washer. On stripping down it looks as if I will get away with the bore which is +1.00mm (which I think is the limit) but the piston crown has been damaged and needs to be replaced. I am not clear why it has destroyed the thrust washer. Secondly, the conrod has no up or down play but some sideways play and on one side it looks as if it has been scuffed by the flywheels. Is it worth taking the engine down and having the crank rebuilt and could this be why the thrust washers have been failing. Any advice gratefully received from experienced Bultaco owners.

I have two floats for the Amal mk2 Carburetor,One is bigger in depth than the other if i fit the bigger one there is less petroil in the float chamber,Is there any advantage of one over the other, Thanking you in advance Hightown

can anybody help ive put new o ring and bush and seal behinde front sproket. put it all back together great a thought untill i had it running noticed it was still leaking. so i cheked were the oil was coming from. looks like its leaking behinede the felt pad so i give bultaco uk a ring and asked for there addvice. he said its the seal in the shaft i didnt know there was a seal there. so i got one tryed to put it in just want to know how fare in should it go in?
