I'm always interested in the way Bultaco changed things on some models without changing the model number. The model numbers that had the most changes are the most interesting to me. I have a fair handle on the changes through model 49 and through model 91/92 but not the others. I'm rebuilding a model 85 at the moment so am particularly interested in knowing at what production numbers the model 85 changes happened? I'm most interested in when the footpeg mounts became welded on, the swingarm pivot nuts were recessed into the frame, the steering security lock was fitted, the chain tensioner became rearward-facing and the chain oiler was incorporated. Ordered new crank seals but got 2 narrow ones instead of the fatter factory size, am assuming they could not get the original and expect you to double up? has anyone tried this and does it work? Would show a pix, but 25k is not enough for the file size!

hi all i know ive ask this before but i really need your help. as you all know i spit my 199A motor the crank is stuck on the clutch side. the bush that gose behind the wight is stuck on theres no gap between the bush and the bearing ive tryed heating it up. then taping it with a block of wood but its not moving i dont think id get a puller on it as theres no gap for the arms to go. ive not really taprd it that hard and it wasnt on a wooden frame so i can lay it on its side ill have to make one. can anybody please help

I recently picked-up a smallish Bultaco...a Campera, which came equipped with a very old Amal. This fifty year old device just did no do this bike justice. At first I was not sure if the problem was with the ignition of the carburetor. Since the carburetor was obviously well past its prime, I opted to look for an oriental replacement. Enter the Chinese Mikuni. Attaching this carburetor to the Bultaco was relatively simple...once you figure out where to get the pieces. It transforms the motorcycle. It now idles, accelerates without hesitation, and runs cleanly at all speeds. However, it is reluctant to start...either when it's cold or hot, so I still have some work to do.…

I have two floats for the Amal mk2 Carburetor,One is bigger in depth than the other if i fit the bigger one there is less petroil in the float chamber,Is there any advantage of one over the other, Thanking you in advance Hightown

hello all ive ask about this before. am going to be buying new shocks for my 199A am a heavy rider so what length would suit? i was gonner go for 350mm fast action or 360mm wich would suit me the best? the bike is in mint condtion and will only be used for green laning.

I am the original owner and plan on getting it running again. Stock Gearing is 11T/39T. Does anybody know how many chain links were standard? I have 97 links using an offset link with two masterlinks. I don't know what was OEM. Can anybody help? Thanks.

Can anyone supply a drawing or picture of the clutch operating rod on the model 10. Been onto Bultaco UK without success. Engine/gearbox unit is now rebuilt. Just short of the rod and the screwed plug that gives access to adjust the clutch. Any help at all most welcome. Thanks Tikka65

hi all ive just had my yoks powder coated dose anybody have any ideas on how to tighten it with out risk of damageing the paint? i no the nut as groovs in it for a c spanner but theres not enough space to get a c spanner in. so i got a normal nut of bultaco uk but im still dont want to damage the paint. allso how tight should this be? cheers bondy

I'm putting together the clutch basket on a '75 Alpina 350 (model 138). I am cross referencing two documents. The Hugh's Bultaco 5 Speed Bultaco Service Manual and the factory Bultaco Parts List Catalogue. None indicate the amount of plates I am supposed to install in the clutch basket (tabbed on OD and non-tabbed). I currently have 6 tabbed plates and 7 non-tabbed plates. Is that too many? What is indicating this concern is the Hugh's Service Manual. The manual shoes 4 tabbed and 4 non tabbed. *help* There are also two conflicting diagrams which show two different assemblies. One shows that the first plate to go in the basket is a non-tabbed and another schematic demo…

Hi, I have been told that you can run an M-80 250 with a 626, could it run ok on a 625 as I have a good on in my garage. What are the main differences between them ,625 has a cold start lever not a tickler so it may be a model 1.5, Cheers

HI, I have a total parts bike: Model 49 motor MAYBE 1970 (with the shift on the right which is unusual in the states), a frame from a 1974 350 (serial number in the 90's) and tank/panels from a real 1970. Except for the brakes, it has been nicely restored including a new electronic ignition. I previously posted about the front brake but have no idea where I posted. I apologize. The front brake is so bad you can forget any downhill and the bike is dangerous to ride. I have two artificial hips so I must have a stopper. I bought a Sherco ST 300 and sold it after 2 months because I hated the modern bike and I don't want to be a xtreame rock hopper. I feel the Bull is a elegan…

I have adjusted the clutch on my m80 as per the manual, but when I start it sometimes the kickstart engages and other times it will slip on the clutch. can anybody tell me if this is common, and how to cure this problem. Thanks Mark
