Winter is closing in. Have been tempted to get a better pair of goggles. Wanting to look after this pair. How do you carry them when thier not on your face. Round the neck is a pain, Pocket contents will scratch them, No rucksack. Top of the helmet? How do you manage?

Hi Guys, Anyone got any good suggestions for protection gear? Looking to get some elbow pads and maybe a back protector, rather than the whole vest which is uncomfortable to wear while trialing, is hard shell elbow pads better protecton then soft shell, has anyone used these? cheers Colin

Does anyone here use a boot dryer? Which type is recommended? My research has found 2 basic types, with many variations: Heated inserts. Something like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dual-Core-Shoe-Boot-Dryer-Electric-Warmer-Heater-Disinfectant-Dryer-Black-Yellow/123470431372?hash=item1cbf69448c:m:m9LtIC_3vRWyqVThh9RMuDg. This is the cheaper and lower power consumption solution (about 20w) but works at a higher temperature. These are generally shown with trainers in the photos. The wire sticking out the back of the heel may be more difficult down in the depths of trials boots. Blown air, like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Portable-Folding-Timing-Elec…

Anybody have solutions for fixing a sole that is wearing through from footpeg pressure? Would rather fix than buy new boots if possible. Resole? Shoe Goo? Flex Seal? Cheers

Hi, I have taken some pictures to show how shoe-goo had saved chewed soles on Gaerne Balance Oiled shoes. I'm really happy with the results.

I just bought some Hebo Eco's off fleebay as they were a bargain and my first boots. Now they've turned up and i can't get my calves in them! Well i can, JUST about, but not with pants/socks on! I'm not overweight but with cycling/training i've got a decent set of calves on ma, although nothing abnormal, but could anyone recommend boots with room for the larger calf! I'll also be wearing MX pants so i want space. I am looking around and have read maybe Diadora could fit the bill a little better?? Bongo

Hello, I've swapped sides and binned the enduro bike for a gasser... Hurrah!! I hear you shout. The problem is I've now got a trials bike and a stack of enduro riding gear. I can make do with the boots for the mo' (though I have been advised that trials boots are like slippers in comparison) my query is helmets. I have been told (by our enduro sec) that Trials can be ridden with a "safety helmet" which isn't necessarly an ACU stamped lid. I have a MX lid, which is pants for looking down, I also have a Bell safety helmet which is basically an open faced lid with minimal padding... it'd normally be used for downhill mountian biking type stuff, I got it for roller blading…

Would a "half" helmet be accepted at a trials competition. The kind that just cover the top of your head. I use one for practice and really like it. It is DOT approved. I'll be riding in the lowest skilled sportsman class.

Just wondering what boots others are happy with. I have Novogars which have worn through on the inside of the right boot in front of heel. (found this out stood in a stream yesterday) they are nearly 6 yrs old. I don't know if this is a common place for them to go?? I have found them a comfortable boot but may go for another make if I can find ones that are maybe stronger in that area. I will be going to BVM they seem to have a wide range . Any to steer clear of or any recommendations worth a look at. Thanks in advance.

I could do with a new crash helmet, I like the idea of the Shoei TR3 as I use Shoei on my road bikes and they've saved my life in the past. But 1050 grams sounds a little heavy for trials? The Hebo Zone 4 Carbon is listed as 950g, albeit that's got a carbon fibre shell. Anyway, what do you guys recommend? A removable / washable liner is going to be an important factor, I'm quite sweaty ?

hi folks.... ive read a few threads debating the use of full face lids and as i can gather, the general majority of riders prefer the standard open face trials helmet for obvious reasons of visibilty and movement.... im new to trials and can agree with them issues, but ive just been watching some vid's on youtube and seen some bloody horrendous crashes that did make me think..... i saw a vid with adam raga which looked just bloody horrible !!!allthough im not attempting anything like the riding mr raga pulls off im sure my falling off skills could give him a run for his money.....hahaha... anyway i probably wont, but it did make me think weather or not i should wea…

Morning guys Im one of those riders that walks through all water sections looking/feeling for unseen obstacles, while the smarter guys watch and keep their boots dry. How do you guys dry your boots out? I hang my boots up outside but it takes close on a week to dry out completely. Any blower devices you guys have built that I could look at (pics) or other tips? Thanks guys.

I need to be careful with the helmet I buy for my road bike as most are too 'round' in shape and give me a blinding headache. I do know of two models that are designed to fit my head shape and they're fine. I tried on a few trials open face helmets today and they all seemed to be very uncomfortable. Does anyone know of a model that suits a narrower 'bonce'? Peter

Someone has offered to pay £150 towards some boots for me for Christmas so anyone have anything good or bad to say about the boots below or any other choices? I'm happy adding another £50 so anything between £150-200 would be ideal. Hebo Tech EVO Hebo EKO EVO Gaerne Balance Classic Forma Boulder Or anything similar, currently leaning towards the Gaerne Balance Classic in Black. I did try adding links to all of the boots but apparently the Admin do not allow that?!

I've been wearing Gearne Balance Oiled Boot and have had a couple of crashed that have crushed my foot. The crash that started my foot pain ended with my toes to the dirt and heel to the sky and the bike falling on my heel and crushing my foot into the ground. I'm pretty sure I broke a bone or two in that incident. The other two were simple crush injuries with my foot laying along the ground and bike falling on the side of my foot. Do the Tech T's or any other Trials boot provide any more forefoot protection the Balance? I can't find anyone within a reasonable drive that stock them in Ohio. Thanks, Mark

Hi there everyone, I bought a pair of Hebo Eco 2 boots in June 2012, by October they had fallen apart, 4 months is not acceptable for thier cost in my book, considering what they are suposedly designed for. Has anyone else had this problem? At the moment the dealer does not want to know so I have taken it back to the importer but they are not really interested. If there are others out there with the same problem maybe something will get done about it.
