Guys, my 242 has the later 304 forks on, just changed the seals etc, drained out 450ml of fork oil = 225ml per leg.....is this too much? Always thought these bikes took around the 200ml mark per leg & just wondered whether you think 225ml per leg is too much oil? Appreciate any views/thoughts.

Hi, Can anyone shed light on the tank & seat units (White) on these models (80/81), I have noticed on photographs that there are two variants! One being the seat area rolls over on top of the rear shocks and the other being smooth (shock totally exposed) My model is the totally exposed version. Somebody has pointed out that it probably isn't original and could be off a 250? Regards

I recently purchased a Cota 200 and am able to get it started but I had some general questions regarding the carb and the decompression lever. There is a lever that moves either up or down located on the carb. What position should this be in when starting? What is this lever for? Also, when it is running and I move the decompression lever it stops the engine. Will the engine start with the decompression lever on? what is the purpose of this lever. thanks for any help you can offer. I think the carb needs rebuilt.

Could anyone tell me what the dimensions are of the oil seal that fits in the swingarm of the 200/ 248/ 348/ 349 ? The part no. is 5140.141. I've discovered that they are missing in my Cota 200 swingarm. I'm in NZ so hoping to buy them locally., Thank you

Well, I'm still awaiting the engine back from the guy who said he'll strip & rebuild it........he's been so busy he hasn't managed to do it yet, which in fairness, ain't no real problem. Ok, so twiddling my thumbs, I noticed the bike has "lighting wires" coming from the magneto so "assumed" this could have been for a road registered bike? I had no paperwork for her, no plates, no nothing to say she had ever been on the road. I read loads on here & other forums & it seems nye impossible to register a bike with DVLA without some sort of paperwork. I wrote a really nice letter, very informative, photo's of the frame & engine numbers etc etc exp…

  6. Started by Beta rev'3,

After spending my life on Fantics and then Beta's I decided it was time for a change. The bike sure does make you smile when you get on it but I seem to be good at stalling it and make a good effort to go over the handlebars, another good one is remebering to keep it topped up because of the lack of reserve tank. The front end does seem heavy compared to my beta Anyone got any tips on how to not stalling it etc? Thanks In advance mick

  7. So how much difference are the newer Mud guards and tank... Looking to up date my 2007 4rt and I have seen a few complete sets for sale from 2020 bike... Will these not fit mine ? Or is it a big job to make them fit... thanks for the help..👍👍

Again, I use the word slowly to emphasise the rate this refurb is taking. Local engineering guy turned me out a couple of spacers for the front & rear wheel, how anyone previous can lose a spacer, heavens knows. Doesn’t really matter as a tenner for both spacers is money well spent. Both front & rear wheels now line up pin straight. The rear shocks were quite short according to one of the comments on here, so a pair of Betor ‘steels’ were acquired from Bike revival uk, ace guy Simon listened patiently to my thoughts then came up with a pair of these, £105 all in inc delivery, again, money well spent. The old ones were 310mm & these are 360mm, makes the a*…

  10. I flipped my 2011 4RT (repsol) and cracked the rear mudguard at the rear attach bolts and I’m looking for another mudguard (and decal) but can’t seem to find one. Any ideas? is it even possible to order one from Honda ? (Though I’ve no idea what the part number would be- the parts manual I have is 2017 I think) thanks in advance!

Hi, I've just bought a 2015 4RT and love it! Just getting used to the bike at the moment. The front brake has air in it so I tried to bleed it at the weekend but it seems as you loosen the banjo to bleed through the nipple, fluid seeps out over the caliper - as the same bolt holds the banjo for the brake line. Any tricks or tips for this as it didn't seem an efficient or effective way to do this! Thanks for any help Alan

With the frame back from the powder coaters I set about assembling the fork yokes, simple job......nope!😳 The problem from day one, was, that ‘someone’ had been at the bike before me, previous owner intended on restoring it (bought most of the bits) but then moved it on to me. Everything is either loose or on the wrong way round. Looking at the front wheel for instance, the brake drum is on the offside, scouring dozens of photos on the ‘net, everyone shows it being on the nearside, no drama, just annoying that everything has been moved. Back to the yokes, new tapered head bearings & races fitted to the headstock, everything adjusted ok, top yoke on, fine, th…

Just thought I’d put a few pics up of the 349 White Wonder if anyone is interested? They're not in order, which is down to operator error!😃 but it gives an idea of “before & after”.

Hello all, after close to 50 years of road racing, I've bought a 1991 Cota 310. I didn't want to spend a lot of money for my first attempt at trials so I'm happy to make and modify parts but I'm a bit lost without a workshop manual. I've searched the internet but can't find one for sale so I was hoping someone on here may be able to help. The swinging arm spindle was seized solid in the bushings so I've fitted new needle rollers amd made new bushings I've fitted new taper rollers in the steering head so the chassis is now OK but without info I'm struggling to get to grips with the engine. I have a puller for the flywheel but can't get it to shift, I've done the usual ie. t…

'81 mk3 White Wonder 349 tank cover just had a coat of gloss white, needs a wet sand to get rid of a few nibs then a good polish. Question is, which decals do I use? InMotion have the 'Montesa & Cota 349' set, Anglia Vinyl Art have the 'Montesa world trials champion & Cota 349' set classed as a ULF Karlsson replica set. Most of the photo's I've seen of the 349 have the 'world trials champion' below 'Montesa'. Is one set special to one particular model? I've got this far, so I would like to have the correct decals on when the tank is ready. As usual, your thoughts are very much appreciated.

Morning all I wonder, looking at some 4RT 2015 model era mods the Repsol seems to have some slight changes, carbon bits and the biggest change is the Showa suspension over the non race rep. But when I look at the 2018 Repsol model there seems to be no LTD edition plate on the frame. Did they just stop doing this run and is there any changes that won't be included as a result? Also are there any interweb sources you use for checking spec changes through the model years? Honda seems a bit hit and miss on the interweb Calling all you 4RT fans. But not the burnt out motor ones. LOL. Cheers
