Montesa

Hi guys, I've finally got round to start fitting my 2 stage ptb (on my 2015 standard 4rt). I've took the original throttle body off and fitted the new 2 stage. All a very simple process. Now I can't seem to find anywhere to plug in the map switch! Any ideas??? It seems the the only part of the harness which has the same plug, is where I've already plugged in my headlight (under the fuel tank, behind the headstock). Am I missing something??? Or is it a case with the standard model, that I will either have to choose between fitting a headlight OR map switch OR splice into the loom and have both.

Just swapped my 05 sherco125 for a 01 315r In good nick. Very nice bike and gelled with it instantly (owned an 02 a few years back but misfortune made me sell) Few little bits to replace and wondering where people recommend for Montesa parts these days. Hah just noticed I've still got my old mont as my profile pic. :/

I have purchased the trp stiffer spring for my Montesa showa shock, I looked in my manual and it doesn't tell you how to remove the spring, do you just loosen the preload rings and remove the retaining cup like a normal shock or is it different. Thought I would ask on here before I use the trial and error approach.

I have read a number of articles on the history of the Montesa Cota None of them have made mention of the green models that were around in the late 1970's. Does anybody have any info on them?

Just got an '04 315r and I am trying to change the fork seals, since the left leg is weeping. I have the left fork mostly apart, the inner tube assembly is out, but I am not sure if the slider and fork tube should be pulled hard to seperate or there is another step or special tool needed. Also if anyone can let me know what wt. fork oil is used and the volume for each leg, I would be most thankful.

Does anyone have any experience of using Silkolene Pro Boost? Would it be OK to use in a 4RT? Is there any downside, eg engine wear etc? Cheers

Has anyone made a little bracket to extend the frame so it can act as a seat if so can you make me one-please i can send you cash/bank trasfer/cheque also while sitting down i dont seem to have much room i need to move the brake lever down how do i do this? it must be simple but i cant work out how! that bottom nut does not seem to do much

Not really interested in bling and spray jobs, but I do like the idea of whats good to alter/ easier to work on. A friend of mine is thinking of trying to sort his a bit what would peps suggest?? Heard a sherco rear brake is good, perce said you need a bashplate, anything else worth the effort?

Hi, my 2001 315 has developed a strange intermittant fault. After starting and running normally it will suddenly start running really rough, no power and won't rev. If I stop the engine and immediately re start, the fault has gone and it will run perfectly again. This sometimes happens after an hour or so of riding, but has happened almost straight after starting. It may not re-occur again for another hour, or it may happen after 15 minutes, but again if I cut the engine and re start the engine runs perfectly again. I have stripped the carb but found nothing amiss, I have taken off the mag cover but everything was ok in there. Any suggestions? Thanks, Chippy.

Hi, Does anyone know where I can find one of the above please, or download ? bought the bike on Friday , but the shop could not find the manual.. Contacted Sandifordsi but they was not that helpful and said they only get one per bike, so was unable to help..All help appreciated. Regards Dougie

Just bought a 2008 4rt, can anyone point me towards a website that shows me how to change oil filter / oil levels and all other maintenance i should be doing? which oil should i be using? would buy a manual but they seem to be

HI Guys. Todays dumb question is timing. I have learned to set 21 BTDC with a spark plug dial gage. I was wondering if anybody has ever bothered trying something less in the 10 to 20 degree range. My reasoning is that I spend a lot of time riding in the idle to 2500 rpm range and 21 degrees is a compromise between fast runing and slow running motors. I am always trying to run slow as possible with little or no clutch so why not run the timing a little closer to TDC? 10 degrees? 15 degrees? Am I barking up the wrong tree?

Hi looking for some help with the refitment of my 315 clutch plates, I know i have to alternate between the friction plates with the steel plates, But the cofusion starts with the diffrents between the cork type plates and the paper type,,,,Is there a correct procedure,,, do you use all the cork type first, and finish with the paper type? or mix them up? Hi all, just been out for my first ride on the 4rt and what a totally amazing bike. I thought it was going to take me ages to get used to it after my Gas Gas but within 20 minutes it felt like i'd had it for years. One question I do have though is when the bike warmed up and the fan kicked in, it didn't stop running until I turned the engine off, is this normall or something I should look into. One thing I will say to anybody who is thinking about getting a 4rt and like me was told by many people that they don't grip, well I can tell you now they grip just as well as my gasser did if not better, in fact I had more trouble keeping the front wheel on the ground Andy

Hi guys. I'm in the middle of replacing the [Paoli] fork seals on my 315 and I have a couple of questions. So far I've removed the forks and taken the top caps off each each one, but 1) On the left (spring, compression?) side I'm having a problem getting the slider out of the stantion - should it come out using just the 'slide hammer' action with the stantion in one hand and the slider in the other?? Or should I be removing the innards before the slider comes off? 2) On the right (no spring, rebound?) side I've got the slider out but the seal, etc stayed in the stantion, although they did start to come out. Should I just use a screwdriver to prise the seal, etc out…

Anyone else had cracks in their airbox? Im alittle unsure how to repair it, Im tempted by plastic welding or some sort of bonding agent like tiger seal, anyone had any luck with it? heres a pic of mine

Hallo guys, I have just aquired a repsol 4rt from 2006. Its in sound condition and I have been out on it a couple of times now. I am so happy for it and having lots of fun. I regard my skils as clubman/intermediate and weigh 80kg. I have decided to start tweaking the suspension to get a faster rebound, especially on the back ,where I found it quite slow and un-responsive. I found out it was screwed right in on the highest rebound setting...but didnt really take much notice of the shock itself. It wasnt until I thought of adjusting the preload today that I noticed it has an orange spring with TRP 75-150 written on it. This has got me doubting if it has a Showa shock at all…
