Hey guys, how do I properly adjust my suspension? For the front and rear. I have the '99 model, with the Paoli suspension, and I weigh 75kg.

i'm currently sprucing up my '99 315r and like the look of these fork guards - does anyone know the width of the Paioli Forks on the early models (38mm or 40mm) and if these will even fit?? Clicky I'm also gonna get teh footrests anodised red. Any one have any other ideas for some tasteful 315 'blinging"?? or any pics?? Tar! Lingo Edited to remove possible advertising

Hi all! I just joined recently to see if anyone might have a potential solution to my problems with my Montesa Cota 172… hopefully I’m in the right place. The bike has been in my family since new, my older brother was the last to use it 20 odd years ago. I got it with the intent to get her running, here’s a list of what I’ve tried to do to get it going; 1.Replaced crank seals 2.Checked spark (bright blue and consistent with a brand new spark plug, verified coil is working correctly) 2.Verified timing (hasn’t changed since new) 3.Rebuilt the Amal 620 carburetor (tickler works as intended now) 4.Cylinder leakdown test passed I’…

I am new to the Montesa Forum but have posted on the Bultaco Section often. I picked up a Cota 348 bike for $300 (in hindsight too much) and the previous owner told me that it just needed a new kickstart spring. I love the rush of a new project and the hopes of turning it in to something great. But....it turns out that it has a few more issues than just a spring. The kickstart shaft is broken off and the drive gear on the clutch side is welded in place. As well there is something wrong with the shifter side because I found JB weld Epoxy inside the case. What are the chances of finding the required parts at a reasonable cost??? Seems to be fewer sources for Montes…

2000 315r $1900 Good/ok condition, plastics show some wear. no major dings or dents. This year, new clutch, brake pads, fork seals and skid plate. Last year all of the rear suspension linkage bearings replaced and new header pipe as well as new piston and rings. Has an extra 1 gallon tank, V-force reeds new in box, ryan youngs how to ride tape, another advanced riding technique tape and two other trials vids. It needs new chain and sprockets. Not sure but i think it also needs front wheel bearings and maybe steering stem bearings. It looks like it could use new rubber front and back. I'm guessing the sprockets and chain at $150 to $175, Tires $200?? bearings $50 to…

I'm replacing the left fork seal on my 2002 315r due to a slight leak. I noticed before I loosened the fork cap, that the spring pre-load adjuster turned but didn't click. I took the cap apart, cleaned it very well with brake cleaner and I still can't get it to click. It worked fine last time I adjusted the pre-load. Any ideas on what could be wrong ? Also, I can't see how the adjuster affects the spring pre-load, unless there's an oil valve inside the cap. How is the adjuster supposed to work ?

Hi all, does anyone have jetting settings for an 03 Mont. It has the new needle in it (standard clip position), if that makes any difference, and i believe the main is 110. The bike keeps stalling at low revs, even with the tickover wound up leading me to suspect the pilot. It may just need the jets blown out with compressed air but it would be interesting to find out if anyone has tried alternative settings (which work better). i am located at sea level. Any help appreciated!

Hi All, My 315 has been resting in the shed for over a year now and I was thinking it was about time she had a run out. Though I can't kick her into life, although the bike was in tip top tune when last used. I'm guessing the petrol has gone off and I need to flush out the carb and tank and refill with fresh fuel. That was my first plan of action. Any other ideas of what I should look at ? Thanks in advance B

I wanted to adjust the tickover on my bike...........ie turn it up a bit. However after turning the throttle stop screw (tickover adjust as I saw it) I found that no amount of twiddling will turn it up............either all the way in/out.........in the middle. Now it's worse and will not tickover on idle.................HELP Are these Dell Orto's more finicky than a Jap carb.............all previous experience is on Keihin/Mikuni on Jap bikes and they seem to do what it says in the manual..............however the Dell Orto doesn't ??? My friend has an 05 4rt which has recently developed a flat spot which caused the bike to cut out just at the wrong moment and has caused him to have a few major off's eg when applying a large amount of throttle at the bottom of a steep bank side from around half to full throttle the bike just totally baulks out, the local bike shop has tested the basics and he has cleaned the air filter and swapped the plug, I'm from a car back ground and if it was a car the first thing I would try would be a coil. Any ideas on we're to start looking would be a great help, thanks Luke

I spent some time putting around the yard last night and the bike ran perfectly for an hour or so. I attempted to go for a ride today. When I got to the trail head as usual I went to start the bike to warm up. It started on the second kick like it normally does, but only ran for a few seconds and died. I tried resetting the ECU and disconnected the kill switch to no avail. When I got the back home I pulled the plug and I can't see any spark I tried a new plug and still no spark. The plug is pretty dry after a few kick overs and there isn't much fresh gas smell coming out of the plug hole when checking for spark. It was raining today and I transport the bike on a hitch ha…
