Hi Can anyone help. I have a Montesa Cota 247 (Oct 1973 i believe) that i have had for about 18 months now that was in a bit of a state when i bought it. Its my intention to make it look a little more like it did when it was born. When i purchased it i spent a couple of hours to see if it would run and low and behold it eventually fired up and sounded really nice ( if you like the sound of these machines that is) I rode it and it seemed quite strong all the gears worked and it seemed like it was more of a cosmetic rather than mechanical rebuild. I thought i was on the last stages after spending a fortune on parts that are very expensive for what they are and g…

Hi, Does anyone know where in the UK that might stock or be able to order the 2007 RTL250F plastics. They are similar to the Fujigas Rep ones in white. Just fancy having something a bit different. I appreciate that Andy has understandably clamped down on forum advertising so if you don't feel able to post a reply then please PM me. Cheers

Hi All, My 315 has been resting in the shed for over a year now and I was thinking it was about time she had a run out. Though I can't kick her into life, although the bike was in tip top tune when last used. I'm guessing the petrol has gone off and I need to flush out the carb and tank and refill with fresh fuel. That was my first plan of action. Any other ideas of what I should look at ? Thanks in advance B

A supplimentary question to the gear removal thread. Do I have to split the cases to change the crank seals or any of the other seals for that matter? If not then I'll be a happy man.

Hi, just nearing the point of completion of my project and I want to do the bike justice so looking for advice on the mudguards. It's a 1975 bike and Ulf karlson replica, should they be plastic or do I spend the cash and go alloy..... Dose anyone know what they were fitted with new? It has the white plastic montesa ones on now but they are replacements. Cheers in advance Steve

Hi Guys one of my 348´s has developed a strange problem. With a new plug fitted (NGK BP5ES) the bike started and ran okay. After about 1/2 an hour the plug broke down and it started misfirng. Next time out with a new plug the same happend again after about 1 hour, strangely on the same climb (3rd gear pull). The plug showed it was running a bit rich but the plugs are duff as after cleaning and fitting to a good bike the bike ran but not 100 % and started misfiring after a few mins.??

I have a 2010 Gas Gas 250, but starting her has been a problem due to a knee injury. First, it takes a good hard snap. Not so much of a problem, alone, but the kick lever hits the mount of the foot peg at the end of the throw, and being short throw it is hard for me to avoid bottoming out like this as it has to be kicked fast. So, I'm wondering about the 4RT. Does the lever hit against anything hard like this when you push it through? Do you have to give the lever a good hard snap? I would buy one if I knew about this one issue. But no dealer within hours and hours of me has one. Excited to hear replies.

Just bought this 1980 Monty 248. All appears cool so far, but a little bit of clutch drag is a bit of pain. Put it in gear and it's noticeable to the extent it's hard to roll backwards and tricky to find neutral. Any idea of possible causes?

Could someone tell me how (or where) the 4RT headlight plugs in? I’ve read about it being spliced into the map switch, which sounds a bit scary, and slightly unnecessary seeing as Honda supply it with plugs ready to hook up... Thanks Boner.

Practicing with Dennis Sweeten and Odus Lambert today, trying to get in shape for the ssdt, so riding that type of creek section all afternoon. I was riding my Sherco 4T, Odus on a stock 4rt, Dennis on a 4rt with a re mapped ignition, really soft for the type of section and terrain we were riding. I couldn't believe the difference between Dennis's bike and Odus's bike, Odus's bike would pull hard and you had to try keep up with it, Dennis's bike was so mellow and easy to ride, even Odus thought the same thing, the bike was twice as easy to ride in that type of section. I think the programmable ignition would be the number one item on my spares list if I owned a 4rt.
