Are they worth the money and do i just bolt it straight on? any advice would be great, thanks

  2. Hey guys, I am pretty good with wiring and such and wondering if anyone has made their own 4rt code reader? I know there is a yellow diagnostic port and in the manual it mentions counting flashing lights on the code reader to determine faults. I am wondering if a 12V power supply and LED could be rigged up to do the same. Any thoughts?

Hi, Maybe a silly question, but is there an easy way to fit the return spring on the shaft, and into the locating hole? Cheers, Mark

  5. Can anyone tell me first hand about the mapping difference, in terms of what you feel through the throttle, and is the delivery easier to handle, when you switch it into the low traction mode?

Is there any trick to checking the oil levels? Or do you just have to drain them out and refill on a regular basis?

Hi everyone. I own a 123T, 247 and a 349. Do any of you own any cool or rare factory or dealership documents or manuals regarding a model I have. I would love to learn more about the bikes. Below is a photo of the 247 i am restoring now.

Hello, I've recently purchased a 348/349 montesa cota! The frame number is 51m20333 and the engine number is 51m00221. Can anybody help identify what model and what engine it has? I want to buy the correct sized carburetor for it as it runs very poor! Cheers.

I was going to put the Montesa up for sale because I recently bought a '06 Beta Rev3 250. When getting the Monte ready for sale I discovered a small oil pool on the bike stand, I pulled the skid plate only to find a small hairline crack coming off the top of the 90* corner cast into the case. When I first bought this bike I installed a new chain, spockets, exhaust gaskets, repacked the silencer, new Dunlops, and a new Montesa rubber case cushion, which required straightening of the heavy aftermarket skid plate for clearance. Apparently there was still enought pressure on the case to cause a vibration induced stress crack in the engine case, possibly due to a casting fla…

Is the flame trap (metal mesh cage) beneath the air filter needed? I've just changed the air filter for first time on a new 4rt, the cage didn't fit onto the new jitsie filter so i left it out. The plug has fouled a couple of times, the cage must restrict air flow a bit. Plug looked a lot better with new filter in.

  15. Hello everyone i'm new to the site as me and my father are repairing and eventually restoring my 81 Cota 200 and i'm probably going to need some of your wisdom! I've had the bike for about 4 years now, and it was running fine until one day, it randomly wouldn't fire up (there's no longer a spark), and also the gears are messed up.... It's difficult for me to explain what the gears are doing and i'll give it my best at describing the problem but chances are i'll have to take it to a specialist! right the gear lever/selector wil click up and down but i think it's going into other gears all in one click. i.e if i go up from neutral (when i can get it into neutral that is)…

  18. Greetings all, So a couple of months ago I bought my first trials bike (exciting! ), a Montesa 311, spent much of the first two months just getting a feel for it- much different to the 4T's I'm used to! Anyway, about a month ago I noticed the fan wasn't spinning- yup typical story, fan burnt out, you know the drill. Checked off all of these- Fan- burnt out, new one on the way Thermostat- all good Wiring- Fine, current comes through However- on advice from a friend, I tested the regulator first to make sure I wasn't going to bugger up a new fan as well- and discovered its overvolting. I tested a 12 volt computer fan (definitely worked before, on a 12v car battery),…

Just got a 2005 4RT and compared to either my 03 Scorpa SY250R or my 04 Beta Rev3 the fan seems to run a lot more of the time. Is this normal? Are there any problems with the water pump impeller wearing out? The air temperature while riding was about 60 F or 15 C Thanks DFW

Hi Thanks to everyone that has answered my questions, I have deleted the whole thread somehow. I had replied to the two answers to my dragging slipping clutch querie and also mentioned that i had got an old review on this bike from 1974 and posted the reply, it got moderated and told me to delete, I followed the instruction and here I am now on a new thread. I have now also had to change the text again on this post due to moderation? Thanks for the good advice. Cheers
