They don't like to be started in gear when new/tight. Mine starts first kick hot or cold, as long as it's in neutral

I stalled mine a good few times out practising last week and three times today, which cost me 15 marks. The engines are very tight when new and tickover needs to be slightly higher than you would expect. I've always ridden 2 strokes so I reckon the fault lies with me not riding it right Today was my second time out on the bike and I'm still very pleased and impressed with it. I found that I rode better when I bossed it about instead of hoping to stay on line...

How well did 'kinell' do in lasat years world championship? - answers on a postcard........... could you have won if you were transported back 25 years on your latest Beta - be honest the answer would probably be no. First of all, I said a good Clubby rider. Nobody would be able to find a single post of mine where I have ever claimed to be any good at trials. I bet there are loads of folk on TC that would look at those sections and think "Yep, I could do them on my modern Beta/Mont/Sherco etc." In fact, that was my point about a 'modern' bike on those sections. No, I couldn't have won 25 years ago. Transport me and the bike back to 1957 and I might stand half a chance against the best back then. PS Was that a bite?

Nice bit of trials nostalgia Were those sections the same sort of level that would have been seen in World Trials in the early 80's? I realise that videos and photos 'flatten' things on the screen and that the riders were on big/numb twinshocks etc. but (I'll probably get shot down in flames for this...) I reckon a good Clubby rider would be able to do all of that on a modern bike What do you think? PS That bike sounded luvverly

To the letter of the law if it is not displayed in the correct place then it is the same as not having one fitted, it's the same offence - although agreed, better to have it there than not attached at all. I laminate my tax disc and use clear technosel (?) to stick it to the left fork in between the yokes. Works a treat until you want to drop the forks out for some maintenence

I wasn't having a dig at anyone in particular so apologies if it looked like I was. My regs arrived about a week after Perce's did last year. Entering online would be great for most but those without internet access would then lose out. For those that have not ridden the Colonial - it is a brilliant trial which finishes off in the pub with a pie & chips supper. Relax and have a pint whilst the score boards are updated Vicx, how many entries did you receive this year? Maybe it needs the dreaded 'ballot'
