Andy is currently on a 4 hour train journey back to Aberdeen with a hangover no doubt. He will be sorting his photos out on the train so that he can simply upload them tonight.
I'm currently downloading almost 2 hours of video, which will take a long time to edit into decent sized video clips. There will be a few posted tonight with more to come tomorrow
Highlights for me were: -
The atmosphere
The score card ladies
Marc Vinco on the push bike and last but not least
The trials riders...
Cracking night

I think there are 5 or maybe 6 in the UK with another 20 expected in Jan/Feb.
-
And I'll be there to oin you

Excellent pics, this post should be made a 'sticky' in the Beta forum.
The 5th pic shows the drilling in a different place to where JLI's did mine 2 or 3 years ago. Just above the new hole (arrowed) is a raised/flat nipple with an indent preformed into it - this is where mine was drilled out.

I sent my regs back the same day I received them, missed out again You might be one of the lucky ones if you haven't had your cheque returned by now. Cracking trial but pointless entering by post really
Good luck to all those who get a ride...

Take a day off John, it's Christmas...

This is the full drilling mod: -
http://www.kdmototrials.com.au/Tech_MIKUNIFix1.pdf
Heath has the BillyT mod somewhere on his website at http://www.r2wtrials.com I once sent him some photo's of the carb mid-mod so to speak. Have a look and see if you can find them before you start bending bits of metal.
PS
I just tried to ring you on your mobile, your answerphone message makes you sound gay

Hmm, out of the 7 tips above - 5 of them relate to any bike/rider at the SSDT...
-
Hmm, I'll wait for the Montesa SSDT prep' list to appear
-
Also...
1) The chain tensioner arm has a spring that fits round a lug on the inside of the swingarm. Fit a cable tie to trap the spring in place.
2) Spare wheel isn't essential but very handy to have.
3) A lockable tool box that you can chain up to the parc ferme fence is a good idea if you don't have 'support' people helping out each morning. You will need WD40, chain lube, rags, long screwdriver for poking lumps of mud out of nooks and crannies and a stiff brush. Also double up on all your backpack tools so that you don't have to worry about repacking it in a rush.
4) Unwind the knurled washer on the front tube valve, you can then see if the tube moves inside the wheel which is better than having the valve rip away.
5) Pop the wheel bearing seals and pack with marine grease.
6) Lock wire the handlebar grips on. I offered to do this for Ishy in 2004, he said "No" but regretted it later that week
7) Shorten the fuel line to make sure it isn't touching the barrel.

Boof' most brands of bike need to be tweaked for the SSDT, one of the best things to do is to replace the factory kill switch with an aftermarket one, I think the Yamaha MX ones are the best or is it the Honda one?.
John Lampkin used to have a list of SSDT mods on his website but I can't find it now http://www.beta-uk.com
PS
It's best to have these little problems now and not in May

I plugged it in and charged the batteries for 12 hours over night. The LED was green and everything seemed fine this morning. The charger was warm to the touch but not hot, most importantly, the bike worked fine...
It has some LED's on the throttle housing which show the power state of the batteries, they were lit up like a Christmas tree this morning so I think all is ok
-
That's what I wanted to hear. Measured both blades with a digital vernier and they were both 6.35mm wide, which ties in with what you say above.
Fitted a 3amp fuse for now, better than nowt I suppose. Well it works, the little red LED light is lit up on the charger and nowt went bang on the fuse board
I got the batteries from a UK supplier and wanted to use the Oset charger as there is a charging port on the bike, this saves hassle having to remove the batteries and charge each one seperately
Thanks for all the help (and the p*** taking!)
Cheers BS, does that .pdf file open up ok for everybody?
-
Wow! That's just melted my brain

240v in the UK, Hot (live), Return (Neutral), Ground (Earth). Not all UK appliances are earthed, some of them are double insulated as you say so I'm sure the charger will be ok to use. I could get USA to UK adapter online but I need to charge the bike batteries up before Christmas...
The blades 'look' identical, I'll have to get the digital measurer thingy out to double check
-
Can you though? These things are usually sealed units these days.
Yep, 4 hidden screws
-
Cheers Tim, 3 amp it is then...
I'll open the charger up and see if that gives me a clue which wire is the heart stopper/starter
-
Bit of an odd one this...
I've got a USA battery charger which has been pre-wired for American plug sockets and I want to change it to a normal UK 3-pin plug. It currently has 2 flat blade pins, 2 wires, no earth, no fuse etc.
I want to chop the USA plug off and wire up a UK plug so that I don't have to use an adaptor (can't get one delivered before Christmas anyway). The wiring isn't coloured, just two black wires running side by side as one flat cable, the blades look identical except that one of them has a number '1' next to it. I'm guessing that this is the live feed and the other is the neutral?
Finally, how do I work out the fuse size? (3amp, 5amp or 13amp)
Details on the label are: -
Class 2 Battery Charger: Model LC3-24-2A
INPUT: AC 100-240v 50/60Hz
INPUT POWER: 57W (Max)
OUTPUT: DC24v/2.0A
Cheers...

Did you leave the fuel tap turned on?
It's annoying when a new bike does something like that, do a search on TC and/or www.r2wtrials.com for the Beta mods. Try the BillyT method first off and if that doesn't cure it, get the carb drilled and plugged at Lampkins or DIY it...
Everything else ok with the bike apart from incontinence?

I've not had a Yes or a No from the Colonial bods yet
-
Hmm, looks like the geek web monkey has been allowing his ar$estistic licence to run riot again
Are we having a little wager this year Mr. Booth?

The Mont's must have impressed quite a few folk the last couple of years...
