more is better,
not in fourstrokes,be carefull
my sherco 4t looked like a clowns bike at the circus when it dumped oil all over a hot pipe
-
Milt hi
First the good news its free
and i have been told it consists of
long kick start lever
complete new ignition (japanese)
new kick gear
hot start lever / button
carb mods
I really hope it does the trick as the bike when running is awesome
-
I actually had one in about 1982/3 as i remember it had really nice gold wheels
The only problems i remember where it ate spark plugs and the throttle kept sticking wide open for no apparent reason
Also where it had been jacked up the steering tucked under quite easily
-
Has anyone had there start mod kit yet ?
The kit is supposidly ready but has anyone actually got one ?
-
Another quick one remove the extra weight from the flywheel, that makes it pick up quicker,if it is allready off and you still need more power buy a fireblade engine
-
Hey dont forget honda montesa still had two bikes on the out door podium not bad for the first year
As for availability,i also could have a repsol rep (05 model with loads of bling to use up unsold bikes ).but try and get an 06.
-
Kev i am so tight i have never had style
But i do like to have propper leather boots not wellies (they are for dancing
here in cider country)
-
windlestone,I would like a monty but no one will sell me one
same as last year everone says they have them in stock but dont
have you ever tried to get a straight answer from a certain importer?
i have been promised one this week (again)
but most people have betas on the floor
-
Looks like beta are really selling well this year
And the bikes arnt to different to last year,
has anyone had any probs?
I am tempted to go back to a 2t and beta /scorpa would be wy choice
-
Has anyone heard if beta plan a fourstroke?
-
If you could buy a monty it would be nice, last year i gave up waiting in about april
I am still waiting for one now
Only a few years ago monty had loads of bikes at southern trials mostly new or just a year old,now they are fewer on the ground and old 315s still out number 4rts
Montesa in my opinion where brave to change to 4t but when they did it they thought everone else would have to do the same (they still might)
everyone who has one seems to love it,its just not many people want to take the risk
-
I really hope they get it to start;
if it is as i belive a similar motor to the yzf for a couple of pounds in weight i would have an electric starter on it (may only be on the wrf not sure)
I love fourstroke bikes but hate starting them
-
What do you think about riding gear,
I must admit now i am a bit older and rounder, lycra skin suits arnt quite so smart looking.
But i think i have found the perfect solution,
the big supermarkets do brand new jeans for
-
Hello everone i have not had the chance to get on the pc for a long time,
I to have had a year on the 4t,what a mixed feeling i have on the bike
when it is going you could not ask for a better bike loads of power loads of grip and really smooth.
But when it decides not to go i could happily burn the bloody thing.
Sherco have a kit on the way but i have rsorted to borrowing my old bike back from the guy i sold it to,like atomant i might just be back on a 2t soon
-
The most important thing to remember is on cambers if you clip the throttle the bike will turn down really sharpley, this caught me out for ages, another thig is think ahead as the power does come in slower but you do not need to rev them,
try and be as smooth as poss with the throttle.
gear selection is not as important as they will rev or lug just as happy
BUT MOST IMPORTANT HAVE FUN.
-
when i saw a really shiney trialer i thought it was yours r2w
cant belive it comes from up contry
you are all suposed to be tight wads
or did you scrump all the bits?
-
WM
i have drilled a small hole in the air box and fitted a short length of clear tube with a blank on the end
now if fuel or water accumalate in the air box firstly i can see it and secondly i can get it out without tools
just make sure it is air tight
i have no probs with mine now
-
It was good actually
I agree that eurosport is annoying sometimes but any coverage is better than none
we dont see a lot of bike sport on tv in general but there is some good stuff on motors tv
but last nites show was quite good but to short
fugigasses monty made ragas 300 gaser look like a moped on that big climb
or was it a camera trick
Well done dougie.
-
I would take a guess that 99% of the people who have bought 4t s are not riding world champs
The rules would not affect them anyway
They buy them because they like them
I personally could not wait for the new breed to appear
Just look at moto gp it is even better now its all 4t
Honda will just keep developing and winning
when ducati started to beat them in super bikes what did they do
copy the duke and improve it (VTR)
then started winning again
-
After watching the fourstrokes at our wtc round i would think the other factories would want to change over
fugi`s monty shot up anything in front of it
And dougie winning at home must answer a few doupters questions
-
There are some small brass treded bushes available comercially (from RS i think)
they expand the first time you put a bolt in and force a knurled outer surface into the hole, offering them up they seem just over the origional outside diamiter.
they are meant for polly and pvc sheet,
should do the trick
-
Rode a trial sun and had no starting troubles what so ever
RE500 you are a god
i also noticed the bike seems to be running cooler in general must have well over 40 hours on by now
Can it really take that long to run in ? maybe so ?
-
WM
glad it helped,i am really trying to get the four banger sorted and these forums have really helped
Ishy if you read this keep helping and ignore the pilloks
re500 saved me from blowing my 4t up
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
I ride bikes every day and have never driven a car and ime over 40
it never ceases to amaze me how bikers try and devide them selfs
if i ride my harley people wave if i ride my scooter i am invisible
I have more respect for the guy that rides his mz to work every day than the weekend 1000 rider but i still wave at them and would stop if they needed help would it go the oyher way, probably not .

WM
did you turn the fuel off before transport,i have had a similar one but only at a practice ground, it had flooded the air box
I think it is a love hate relationship.
another thing i do now is take a spare filter to events . if it dusty even that effects starting.
try taking out the choke jet and blanking the hole it really works
-
Hello W,M
mine never needed choke even when really cold,i posted the question ages ago.
It seems they are all a bit different,i just kick it a few times and it is away,
But when hot it was without reason, one day good one day bad.
have you tried not using choke? does it flood when cold (mine did every time with the choke on)
After doing the mod (20 mins max) it has made me love it again.
Its still to pokey though, but i no longer want to burn it.
