I was wondering what the rules are for twin shock?
can i run disc brakes?
I have a little 125 scorpa that i really love and dont really want to get rid of
can i make up a rear subframe and bang two shocks on or is this not playing the game?
I have seen a lot of big money bikes that seem to be accepted
-
The fuel tank on the 4t is only just over two liters but it does seem to use quite a lot
Has anyone worked out if the new four bangers are really thirsty
What about the honda?
How much does a 290 2t use on an average trial?
I have been on reserve a few times and run right out once
i recon reserve is about 10cc watch out
-
Oh no i hope it is horrid,i have only just got the bloody sherco,I dont want to change it allready I do like my scorpas
-
Gents the information on this subject is really usefull,i am sorry i could not get involved earlier but i have to use my wifes work computer.
big john it is interesting your bike needs no choke either!
my bike just runs better and better the more hours i get on it
I am just getting the hang of letting it go right back to virtually no revs without the clutch and just tickleing the throttle.the power is really quite amazing.
when hot if it fails to fire first or second kick i open the throttle about a third and it seems to fire up really easily.
The only problem in the mud seems to be to much grip when shutting off.i have flipped a couple of times in a steep section.
-
Anyone got any set up info for the sherco 4t yet
mine is a lot smoother and more powerfull after the second service
(did one at 5 and one at 10 hours, just to be sure)
but it still needs no choke on initial start up and will flood if i try it.
do i need to lean the mixture,or move the needle setting. or change the
pilot jet.
it runs ok when warm but seems quite thirsty
-
r2w your bike is so clean has it ever been in 3 foot of mud ?
my new 320f is dirtier with more dents.
do you want to be my personal valet ?
-
Dropping off a bank onto a ledge still about six foot from the bottom of a ditch, trying to use a ten inch log as a stopper
the log and a foot of bank gave way ,i tried to lift the front end,
decided to bail, half surfed down on the side of the bike.
the bike stopped with the foot peg about six inches futher off the ground than my legs i slid down the bike and stopped dead
i tore my trousers and could see blood,i had to ask a really good mate to look, when he finished p***ing himself he said i had three or four really deep scrapes across my buttoks all stopping at my ring peice,
i could not sit down for a week. no i did not finish the trial
-
Big john dont do it (sell the other bikes that is)
my slogan is similar to yours ,never sell one just keep buying them.
you will really enjoy the 4t mine just gets better and better.
done a couple of trials now what a bike.
-
Mine burnt a bit of oil for the first couple of hours only a puff
the motor is just getting stronger and stronger;
four strokes get a bit of upper cylinder lube from oil left in the bore and through the valve bushes ,
the sherco definitly has the edge over the mont on bottom end ,it is a real tractor off the bottom, cant wait to give it some
-
Anyone got or riding a 4t sherco,
Do you ever use the choke ?
Mine seems to start first or second kick without it from dead cold,on the couple of occasions i have used it it flooded.
turned it off and a couple of kicks and it fires up no problem ?
Is this because the weather is warm ?
When it is running it seems fine and just keps getting better
-
Got mine yesterday (friday) and have had a good 4/5 hours on it ,still tight though,it has really good power right off the bottom and pulls like a bloody train
One thing i have noticed it does not seem to need any choke, both times i tried to use it it flooded. It is mild at the moment and it may be set a little rich for running in ?
Other than that it is getting easier to start and is not hard to kick over ,the importers say it needs up to eight hours to fully free up,i will be getting it muddy tomorrow so will know more then
-
If you dont want to get to messy use silicon grease or petrolium jelly (any good dirt box lube will do it and its safe with rubber )
this will never fully set but is far more visceous than air so will not be forced through the area where your leak occurs
the other thing is it will activly find small leaks as they happen and wont hinder future replacement or repair
i only really had a problem on one of my scorpas but i think most of the wheels come from the same factory anyway.
-
A good freind of mine turned up for a sunday morning trail ride few years ago on a pre 65er
we all laughed at him to start with, by the end of the ride we were all hatching plans to buy one
I ended up having to build one ,on a modern enduro tool the only way to test the bike is up the speed you can get a trials bike in all sorts of trouble at not much over running pace
-
Yup buy an 05 280 pro and be just like everone else
ford escort jumps to mind
-
Steve if you need parts in a hurry BVM moto in stroud are really good,
TMX this week says birketts are making a start.but they have a lot to set up
my money would go to BVM
-
Has anyone got a firm date for there new 4t sherco yet ?
I still have not had a firm date for mine yet,it is on the way,is all i know
It looked pretty good in the paper today.
I suppose a few more weeks aint going to hurt
-
They work fine on a push bike.
I have wondered about trying them myself.
on one of the scorpa websites there is a new little stunt bike comming out ,that looks like it has pushbike pedals
the motorcycle ones look to be sprung to the centre
-
It did not fly for long ,and when it landed i had made a 3d replica of my lunch in my y fronts,
that really was stronger than cast alloy.
-
If you want a really cheap silver helmet with vents,
try an old colander, they are really tough , and if you can afford an alloy one
light too.
but if it has git legs they must be cut off ,THEY WILL CATCH THE UNDERGROWTH.
-
Earth calling,this is earth calling.
Is this trials central or star treck, i fix my bike with duct tape and bailer twine , the two strongest materials in the universe.
-
Has anyone fitted a 160/175 big bore kit to there 125f?
how hard is it,
how much difference does it make?
I have read a few things, but only from people marketing the kits.
-
Has anyone out there got any news?
this weekend was supposed to be the arrival time for the new bike.
is it here?
-
Looks like the monty 4rt has got power after all!
I dont think an under powered heavy bike with the extra weight of a chair
and another person could win a national trial do you ?
I think the doupters should take note,4 STROKE IS THE WAY TO GO.
-
I just love bikes, all bikes ,any shape or size
But and this is a big but i also love the underdog.
I also like to have a good windup,
I do ride mostly four strokes, at the mo i still have a little 125 scorpa,
but at 17 stone it does struggle,i was waiting for a 4rt but have changed
to a 320 f sherco.
It was nice to see robin luscombe win first time out on the 4rt chair,
that should answer the power question.if it can pull two people and a chair wheel around a national section,it should be enough for mr average.
-
Last place the kx 250 was infact a 500 special and it did not finish
however the yzf 450 that won did
i still like 2 strokes but as hans kinnergardner once said
"2 strokes are little toys for little girls" enough said
