sounds like you bike has not had the pink wire mod (the electronic resistor munch talks about)
that is an absolute must i hav also removed the middle restrictor between the pipe and silencer only because it kept rattling, however it did not afect noise or power noticeably.
leave all the others in and the bike is really smooth try hill climbing in a higher gear it takes a bit of adjustment but is worth the effort,

i wont try it to much its up for sale and i dont want to crash it (just my luck)
the monty just suits me much better the sherco is a bit of a beast as you know, really i think it is an experts bike
-
Atom
used mine on sunday
What a bloody diference
honestly if the kit had been a bit quicker coming we all would keep our shercos
the only time it took more then two kicks where initial start (it needs the choke now)
and once when it got up a bank and i did not the bike was iverted for about a minuit
some fuel was in the clear pipe i fitted to the air box last year i drained it and tried to kick it as normal it was really hot and flooded
i tried about six kicks then pulled in the hot start two more kicks and it was away
RESULT

PERCE
the monty has a angle sensor to shut the motor off if you drop it
maybe if the bike was laid over for a long time this may have stuck (if it is mechanical)
i do not know the spech of the switch but it is worth considering

Big john
I would love to keep it but as the old song went "MY WIFE WONT LET ME"
I have a similar problem to yourself, seven motorbikes and only one wife
I have been promising her a kitchen for ten years she says she has had enough of doing the washing up in the bath
So it has to go,
-
Sherc
fitted every thing exept the cam ,that can wait till next time the head is off
seems to make a real difference;
The kick start seems to make the most noticable change as the bike is effortless to kick over.
i have not trialed it yet but i have been out for a long play
it starts even after being turned over (on purpouse of course)
but i am still going to sell mine, the monty suits me better.

modern trials bikes have fuel injection so you can program the engine power charicteristics to suit yor prefered style
did i say all modern trials bikes sorry i meant just the honda montesa
the others will catch up in a few years.
Seriously though i had a stalling problem when i first rode my monty but it was my boot just touching the rear brake pedal when i moved forward, moved the pedal stopped the problem

Thanks chaps
big john i will try re s spot if i get trouble i will pm you
Thanks again re 500.
-
Sorry boys me again
Fitted most of my hot start kit but was wondering where to put the new coil?
will not fit in origional spot and ht lead to short
before i start drilling holes what seems to be the best solution
Thanks in advance dixie
ps it seems to work fingers crossed
-
neo
just see if it starts ;
no seriously the kickstart is longer as well, but as RE says look at the master cylinder on the clutch side
only fitted part of my kit and it starts really well ,maybe because i can use the choke again .
-
That is definitly a gyro stabeliser unit, with optional antigravity genorator.
six months and we will all have them
-
DO they do a roy peplow map yet ?
i think that will be the one i need
ps he rode works tiger cubs.
-
Got my easy start kit and was wondering
in the photos of the new cam it mentions two .5mm washers are they supposed to
be in the kit or do you use the origionals ?
got the rest done (started second kick)
But am summoning up the courage to take the motor apart this weekend
-
Hi denny
You are going to find your new trialer a bit slower than the cr but every bit as rewarding
and you will soon see this site is really helpfull to.
good luck dixie
-
I cant wait to break one just to find out how much it is to replace
can i put the monty one on my sherco?

hello all
who has had there start kit for there 4t?
I got my bike from the first batch and seem to be forgotten
Is it a case of he who shouts loudest?
if so do i need to be on the phone every day????????
-
piruleiro
I can tell you one thing the 4t is deffinitly fast enough for the road
-
Dont worry cota
i will buy it off you then sell it back to you for a small profit of course
problem solved
-
The sidecar boys would be happy
they seem to like 315 montys
must be good motors if they cant break them
-
Buy the monty
I suspect you lot are maybe a bit younger than me, but i bought a 320 gas gas in 1996 and it cost
-
Boydw
Thanks for the info, what i would really like is to have a spare set of wheels
if i get a standard set and need them anodised i will let you know
thanks everyone
-
I need a pair of gold wheels for the monty
where do i get them and how much
I have seen the ads in tmx but they are to re finish your old ones
How much are origional equipment ones ?
-
Spot on you lot
Both bikes have alloy frames so look good longer
Having had both (and i am fat)i would probably say the beta is a slightly better beginers bike
Both reliable both verry ridable but the beta is a bit more forgiving still with plenty of power
Just buy one ang get trialing
-
If like my old bultaco, the cable holders where cut off you can use a car handbrake cable and fabricate new ones (much cheaper but not origional)
