    Acu Advice

you will also need to send a photo of your self, and the comment above about paying day membership will not apply as once you have your licence, you will be able to ride at most acu meetings in your area. I am sure you will not have lost your money, the ACU licence department are quite on the ball and they are very quick at getting the completed applications processed. TLTEL
  3. The not revving bit makes me think it is an electrical problem, is it points or cdi ignition?,it check wiring and clean earth connections. TLTEL
  4. That seems like a good deal, if the engine sounds sweet too, I would say go for it, TLTEL

    Valuation

Unfortunately you bought a very neglected bike to start with, so probably paid a little too much for it. You rarely get back the money you spent out on what are basicly service items. I would say £1000 maybe £1100 Beware the next time you buy a bike, at least you now know all the points to look at before you part with your cash. TLTEL
  6. My golden rule, never do any work on the bike the day before a trial unless its absolutely necessary. normal service stuff is ok but don't investigate things like suspension. TLTEL
  7. The reason I asked about Joan Westbrook is that she still rides that BSA in our local events and she is in her 70's. She has been ill for a while and Sidcup club recently had a fundraising event at their British bike trial for her ( cancer charity) and she still managed to take part on her BSA. TLTEL
  8. Nice shot of the special hand made exhaust, TLTEL

    Cooked Engine

I have to agree with Dadof2 , it is not that common for the impeller to strip out and to have it happen twice to the same bike suggests there is a problem that's causing it to happen. But when you buy a used bike, you take a gamble, I don't think you should be liable for any repairs. (not in this country anyway) TLTEL
  10. So.. Where did the Joan Westbrook fit in to this scene, As in the the SSDT Trophy. TLTEL
  11. I have no problem with that riding attire provided the bowler has an ACU approval stamp. TLTEL
  12. No Raga owners in tonight then??? I'm guessing here but if you undo the radiator fixing maybe there will be enough flex in the pipes to get at it. TLTEL
  13. Have you looked at it, I am pretty sure its only a thermo contact switch, that should unplug and unclip. You shouldn't have to drain the coolant . unless the Raga is totally different to the other Gassers. TLTEL
  14. The rod is actually connected to the bottom of arm 3. TLTEL
  15. make sure you use the correct thickness base gasket, TLTEL
  16. that is a very clean bike, it has either not been used much or someone has spent a lot of time looking after it, great choice for a beginner. Good luck mate. TLTEL
  17. Hi. I had a similar problem with mine a while ago, the chain was very noisy even after doing the sdjustment procedure, I removed the fly wheel to take a look at the bottom of the adjuster to make sure it was doing what it should, i found a hair line crack in the flexible part of the tensioner that runs on the chain, after replacing this part I have a quiet engine again. You should really change the fixed chain guide too but this requires the head to be removed so that bit can wait for now. By chaniging this part you can also check the adjust locking wedges are present and correct. TLTEL
  18. Yes the camera can make the steepest hill look like a walk in the park........... TLTEL

  21. Good selection on that clip, It looked like most of those guys had convinced themselves that the weren't going to make it over the rocks before they got there. TLTEL
  22. By the look on their faces in the Pete Monk photo he may have been trying to break that frame again on that lump of concrete!!! Great photos and great bikes too. TLTEL
  23. Could also be a fuel issue (too much), or reeds, dirty air filter, TLTEL
