I think that a good breaking in is necessary, specially with a Wiseco piston

I remember talking to Mick Andrews about leading axle ( boring the std yokes to fit 35 mm TY Mono fork ) on my TY TS and the first thing he told me is that I would have to make the steering angle 1 degree steeper.

The IRC I used where TR11 not TR1 there is a difference. ( in price too ).

I also stays on my Ty TS and I has one on a TY Mono.

Not if I was the owner, but I hope he get it out of the showroom.

I need a new rod kit for my TY 250 1977 ( Canada ), I think all TS TY250 can use the same connecting rod. Does anybody know the part number for Hot Rod, IMS , ProX or other rod kit that would fit my TY ?
Thank you for the info

From my experience, helmet cam does not give me good result, handlebar mount is better, but I never tried chest mounted.Maybe next year.

I normaly use genuine pads but the last set I bought where not ( i'd have to look if I still have the box to tell you witch yhey where ), and I did the same thing : as wide and deep and no problem up to now. Winter is comming so it's time to make an overall, I will take a good look if they seem to be deteriorating.

I always groove my TY shoes in X patern with a 3/16 file down to the metal. I never had problem and I think they work ok for a 75 Yamaha.

The motor should be raised an inch I think.

You have to install the cable on the holder not attach to the arm. ( specialy when new )

Yes, but the heavier the the flyweel the slower the response on and off throttle, and you have to consider the position of the weight: the further out the more effect it as on the motor. With the heavy TY B flyweel, the throttle response is slow and it seem's to take forever to get down to idle speed. I think I have a picture off the A and B flywheel, I will try to find it and post it.

David, I will keep your advice in mind. I should be able to make a good test ride this week end, so I will be alert to stalling. I have an unmodified A model apart my heavy B model flywheel so if the bike have a " stalling tendency " , I will go back to a standart weight A model flyweel and see if the rider isn't the cause of the bike behavior. I also try to ride without the clutch.

I don't know about the rest of the world, but here in Canada, the B model was sold in 1975 and the weight added to the flywheel is twice as thick and larger than than A model. I run a weightless A flywheel on my B , and I went for 3.4mm advance. the bike start and run well ( in the backyard ) but I did not have the chance to try it properly. If I went wrong, don't be affraid to point it out, I would be happy to read your input.

Humm !!! Decision decision... Thank you

I know I read it somewhere but I did not find it: I am installing new points and condenser on my TY B, I normaly set them to 3.1mm BTDC as per my Yamaha service manual ( A model ) but I remember that many don't set them at that BTDC. What is your input on that ?
Thank you

For piston, there is nothing like the original.

I think it's a lot more usefull to be engenius than to have an engeneer ring.

I realy would like to se a picture of the complete bike.

They are standard TY A rods, many modif can be done, I went for cartridge emulaor. I like them, but I am sure that some other owners will give you cheaper tips.

It does not run well: it make a little noise but does not smoke.

Do I get this right. The clutch slip going downhill : the motor does not pick up rev but the speed increase ?
Guy
-
I David, do you run your modified TY with a very soft front end ? At first I ran a harder setup and was alsways in trrouble in rocky sections. Since I installed the cartridge emulator and set them up so they are very soft, it is a lot easier to ride the rocky sections, but at the same time, I noticed that with a little more weight on the front end, the steering was better in moderate climb. Maybe half or tree quater of an inch longer swingarm would make it better.
