Put it on a diet. Bin the exhaust completely and do something lighter.
-
Or try the magical springs, seem to stop that nasty topping out

I had a go on the motak 280 (very nice bike) and that's on 11:46, felt good.

No harm in using a little silicone automotive sealant on the head, lapping it should provide a good fit but if not,try a rub of silicone (permatex or similar)

Maybe DEP could be interested? I think they make the repackable alloy Sherpa mid sections that Sammy Miller Products do...
-
Titanium rod was about £10 on eaby - just need a pal with a lathe to cut a thread on it for you....lovely

Hi,
Does anyone have a picture of the 340 (6spd) gearbox please.
Just rebuilding and I want to check the selector fork orientation.
thanks

Ive got a rough 198B (the very last type the factory made) 250cc you could look at if you wish (message me). Theyre pretty sought after (people are converting them to 280ccs) and competitive. Very easy to get parts (from In-Motion and ebay).
The very early Bultos are quite expensive and some parts are difficult to get (they do look lovely though).
Most of the middle and late models are well supported with parts.
-
As it turned out I bought Rockshocks. The Falcons (alloy) and the magicals were about the same price (£300 is), the rockshocks slightly cheaper (and I am a tight a*se northerner).
I like the steel falcons I have on other bike so looking forward to trying the Rockshocks.

If youre unlucky it will be siezed - the spindle rusts and siezes in the centre engine mount bracket. I had to disk cut mine out recently....
You can buy the bushes and spindle from in-motion, the hardest part will (as Bondy says) getting it out.
I made a titanium spindle - for weight but also corrosion resistance (it wont rust).
-
Still use it, the carb we have to use doent have as much adjustments as more modern carbs so youre stuck with somethings..
-
Boost bottles - not much use on a reed valve engine or one with a decent carb. But...on a pre65 with old amal, they can make a difference. I tried on my bantam, did half the trial with it then half the trial without. Without doubt it cleaned up the very low down carburation (bantam are over carbed but this is a nice inexpensive fix).
Have fun

The magical springs are excellent,
-
The alpine yolks are parallel and will steepen the forks but increase the trail - so make the steering slower
-
Hi, me and my old man have Bultacos, Bantams and Montesas - all have the same problem (one is a class winning bike with mikuni carb so not put together badly).
Weve always had this issue, the 'fix' is to roll the bike over with the throttle open before kicking it - seems they need a good flood. Not sure if its related to modern fuel but this seems to work well.

Thanks Gerry, ive joined the facebook page, looks good. cheers

Hi
Anyone know much about the national twinshock champs?
I've entered the red rose hosted on on the 10th, just wanted more details- is there a website? Who,s winning? Etc etc
-
They are a nightmare - they dont have a key so are necesarily tight.
-
There is a 430 80cc fabric on eBay right now...
-
The cheaper OKOs are fakes from China - I bought one on ebay for £30, waste of time...
