Is it no longer possible to ask a question on this forum without someone butting in with unjustified criticism or a sarcastic comment.
I was genuinely curious to know what happened to BB wen he got so close to the finish before retiring. Regarding NR I saw a sheet which showed he had completed all the sections but there was nothing in the overall time or result - I wondered if he had missed a course check or something. I see he is now shown as a finisher.

WTC has ended for this year but both indoor and outdoor WTC are usually on Motors TV a few days after the event.
If you have a Smart TV there are of ten a lot of trials videos of all levels on Youtube.

Get them lightly sand blasted (fine sand) or bead blasted then paint with VHT primer then VHT gold engine enamel or don't use primer and just paint with Hammerite smooth gold.
Two coats of hammerite sprayed on at the correct interval give a very tough finish that helps seal out corrosion.
It may be worth contacting an auto paint specialist. Etch primer followed by 2 pack high build undercoat / primer gives very good corrosion protection on alloy wheels and steel but I have never used it on magnesium engine casings. You would then have to spray on the colour or basescoat + gloss

It was Dabill I was referring to and the question was not leading anywhere. Unfortunately due to other commitments I did not get to visit the finishing area as I would have liked to have a good close up look at the Vertigo. The other JD was no doubt behind his camera somewhere on the course.
Upon seeing the result I did suspect JD had either mechanical problems or a couple of punctures.
Regarding both the Vertigo bikes though I would make the following comment - the more complex you make something, the more there is to go wrong.
Surprisingly it was the battery that hampered DL. I actually favour battery ignition / EFI systems over non battery. The Vertigo and Ossas however have a sort of hybrid system neither fully battery nor non battery which have a number of short comings.
Anyone know what happened to Billy Bolt and Nathan Wrigglesworth?

The fins are weldable with TIG and 4043 filler, unlike the side cases.
-
I agree with above. I would think well worth 400 euro.
-
Very good to see Ian getting a win at this prestigious event, well deserved reward for many years hard work.
Emma Bristows time very notable as well.
Anyone know why JD was further back than would be expected?

Get him an oset - small enough in size for him to pick up and no starting problems. Having fun is the main thing. I doubt if he will need side wheels, probably just trail his legs for a short while then ride on two wheels no problems.
-
Good pics, where did you get them?
Back to the original post, I assume you words "bit pinky" mean pinking, that sort of chuckling, pinging sound that indicates pre ignition - the mixture starting to burn before the spark plug fires.
It is possible that if the plug is too hot it will be pre igniting the easy to fire slightly over rich mixture. First try a plug a grade or 2 colder and see what happens.

The funniest thing about this topic is despite the majority clearly favouring hydraulics, Its a fair bet that ever poster is still using a cable for their trials bike throttle - probably the most vital control.
The comment about Rossburg was in the same context as riders when having problems with hydraulics express a wish to return the days of the TY mono shocks

Do not fiddle with the wires between stops / starts - that could confuse the issue.
The most likely fault is in a fine wire component such as the HT coil, Ignition source coil or timing trigger coil.
On 2007 GGs the source and trigger coils are the most suspect.
As the engine and electrics warm up a poor connection becomes poorer due to the thermal expansion and movement of the components.
These components will still have faults when cold but the electrical variations caused by the faults will be so small they will need an oscilloscope to see them. You could try a road motorcycle engineer who has this sort of equipment / knowledge
If the spark is good / normal when the bike is cold the likely fault is the trigger coil
If the spark is poor or weak when cold the source coil is the most likely followed by the HT coil.
A constant period before being able to restart of 15 to 20 minutes is fairly typical of HT coil failure

Bet Rossberg wishes he had a old fashioned throttle link either cable or hydraulic rather than "fly by wire" electric.

Some never reach a good level. The more time you spend on the bike at trials and with friends (ideally a bit better than you) the sooner you will improve.
Practice 2 nights a week and trial 3 weekends in 4 and you should progress fairly quickly
-
You will do better at trials if you do some additional exercise to get your heart rate and stamina up. Cycling or MTB better than running. Running tends to wear out your knees which already get enough hammer on a trials bike.

Depends on how well you know the area and if you are travelling by car or motorcycle. If you are not familiar with area follow advice in programme.
Bridge end, Bypass, Roys rocks and surrender (in bypass direction) very bad for traffic last year.

Knitted builders gloves with the sticky rubber dots. They are dead cheap so you can have a few pairs and change them each lap.
-
The sooty perimeter indicates too rich or maybe engine running a bit cool - low water temp.
The centre electrode sounds near spot colour wise on although I prefer a shade darker. It could be you plug is a bit hot, as in hotter grade and this is getting it hot enough to burn off the rich mixture.
Ideally the perimeter, centre and earth electrodes should be much nearer the same colour.

You could very easily know more about pro cycling than I do, I just have a casual interest but I would rather watch the TDF or Vuelta than WTC.
From what I have heard the switch to discs either mechanical or hydraulic is likely to be some time off, if ever. There are quite a few arguments against cable discs and even more against hydraulic discs for tours.
On motorcycles the change to discs and hydraulics was a change from one hub based system to another. The switch from a rim to hub system has a lot more variables.

Not necessarily so, if you look at one of my earlier posts I wrote that there is no advantage to manufacturers in producing low cost reliable cable systems. More profit to be made out of selling less reliable more expensive systems.
Car headlights is another example of where fashion and newer technology is greatly increasing costs for a minuscule if any gain in real life performance. A basic 6 or 7 inch light unit with a H4 bulb could be had for about £27 and give excellent lighting especially if 4 were fitted. A few weeks ago I heard £1250 being quoted for one of these new type fancy shaped headlight units.

Look back / search through pasts posts on brakes, Beta in particular, there is loads of info / advice

It was with some hesitation that I mentioned the Scottish holiday incident because I suspected a response along the lines of your comment. Similar issues are starting to arise in professional cycle tours where the non team specific back up cars only carry spare wheels for rim brakes. This means the riders who are experimenting with hydraulic disc brakes are "up the creek" when they have a puncture because they have to wait for their personal support vehicle which can be a long time coming.
The reasons I can quote friends experiences to back up my comments is because my opinions and what I post is often based on what I hear from my biking colleagues. I have not questioned for example why wheels are round because none of my friends have found having round wheels to be a problem, unlike GG gearboxes and hydraulic brakes.
I hope some readers can appreciate the following reasoning. The USA has some excellent fighter / multirole aircraft in the F15 and F22 yet they still felt it necessary to produce a budget aircraft, the F16. The F16 although cheaper and simpler than the other 2 provides excellent service and is a very good seller. I.E. you do not have to have the latest / most expensive technology to have satisfactory performance that attracts buyers.

Looked this one up on some bike forums, seems they can discuss the topic rationally and without resorting to insults
Seems the newer mechanical (cable) operated discs are finding quite a few supporters.

You can register a vehicle and get a registration number for off road use only. It costs nothing and is well worth doing as t enables vehicle to be traced if it is recovered after being stolen.
It is an offence to have a vehicle taxed and not insured even if it is not used on the road but I have found the DVLA give quite a bit of leeway on this but sooner you write to them the better. This frequently occurs when you buy a bike off someone, they transfer their insurance to another bike but there can be up to a months tax left on the bike you just bought.
The Governments "fiddle" of not allowing VED to be transferred with the vehicle earns them about £40 million a year in double tax take.

I would be very wary of showing an appreciation of older technology on this forum. Danger you could be called a Luddite or an old duffer.
