Frankly I don't think you'll have any supporters for that point of view, not really burying your head in the sand....................more collectively sticking together as motorcyclists who ride dirt bikes
-
Only if people have a desire to buy them
-
Anybody got any recommendations?
As the years go by and getting older, I seem to pick up more injuries to my shins etc and this results in some pretty sever bruising/lumps at times
So, I'm looking for some knee/shin protection and not too intrusive
I know protection isn't generally worn by Trials riders, but those of you that do................point me in the right direction
-
That's true, it's a funny old motor, I was out in the dry mainly - but on some damp clay banks it wouldn't go anywhere
-
Aye, you weren't hanging around at the Scott, either

Pity this has dripped out, when the question was pointedly askedI think it poses more questions and should have been announced in the Press
That way existing & potential JTG clients would know, rather than hearsay
I think the OP has had a lucky escape & now can take his hard earned elsewhere to buy another brand
Looks like Sherco/Beta & Montesa/Honda will continue to grow, in this limited marketplace
Let's see what happens ?
-
Wow
That's a bit of an eyeopener
It's a bit like the UK bike shows - NEC, say £20 now
Intermot in Germany (6x the size) ~ less than 10e
-
Why though?
It's not in our interest, as Trials riders
Who is to say any 'damage' isn't caused by the CLA member's tractor
Any curtailment of legitimate motorcycle use and sport in the countryside, would hit us all hard
It's difficult enough to persuade farmers to allow us onto their land, for Trials etc...............with Natural England breathing down their necks and DEFRA threatening to withold subsidy payments, if motorsport is allowed on their land
Think about it, for a minute
Trailriding, first and once that's forced off green lanes - then for sure, by God - Trials/Enduro and MotoX will be next
CLA and GLEAM want NO MOTORSPORT or off road leisure vehicle use in the great British countryside..................mark my words
-
Well said
When I read it, I thought it was just a wind-up
I thought a strong response was called for in post 2, just in case it wasn't
-
Don't do it
GLEAM and CLA are against legal offroad vehicle use on unsurfaced legal carriageways (Green Lanes, for want of a better word)
The are seeking to exclude vehicular use and this will wreck Long Distance Trials, like the classic MCC Trials and the like
They will also use the evidence against motorsport too, so Trials could be under threat
Don't send them ANYTHING, it will be like Turkeys voting for XMAS , so you'll play right into their hands - they want pics of damage to lanes caused by bikes, so they can ask the Govt to shut them and destroy offroad motorcycling in the countryside
TRF (TRAIL RIDERS FELLOWSHIP) are fighting GLEAM to uphold YOUR motorcycle rights in the countryside, support TRF and not GLEAM - who are against us
Heed this warning

I got 2 mirrors, 2 front indicators on rubber stalks, rear black inner mudguard with 2 indicators/taillight and full handlebar switchgear, plus steering lock and speedo head/cable and front wheel speedo drive - with my 2007 Repsol
Seems you've been short changed, unless no road gear is provided for 2015's
-
if you bought it in the UK, the dealer should have given you the indicators/speedo/lights/steering lock and if it was the ordinary (not Repsol) model, the 2015's are coming with a seat too
-
Do you want to sell the oem seat thing?
-
Yep, you can nearly do it by hand
Never had an easier bike to start
Try a Maico 490 if you want a brut
-
I've got a Beta Alp 4 & it's chalk & cheese to my 4RT & an Alp is chalk & cheese to a KTM 350, sort of halfway houseA 4RT is ok on the road, but 3-4000 miles on one may show up its weaknesses
-
Battery on a 4RT?
Totally unnecessary & not designed for it
Mine starts 3 rd kick from cold & first kick when hot
If you are booting it, you are doing it wrong - sales guy was right
From cold 'push' through twice & then a decent prod for the third kick & it should fire up
Hot - just prod it
Must be something wrong if yours isn 't - check plug & valves first
Lights supplied will run ok on the bike's generator
Can't see the point of what you're trying to achieve
-
-
Debt forgiven, I don't think that is the 'technical term'
-
Getting a trials bike through the LR back door would be a bit of a chore
-
Thanks chaps, the van has lots of uses and benefits, had it 11 years (Toyota) & I guess I'd miss it, like you say
Main thing is security, you can stop at a shop on the way home from a trial or in the services and nobody knows your bikes inside
With a pickup, it's all on display
Only bonus with a 4wd is muddy venues I guess
Thanks for the tips
-
Mmm - yep I overlooked that Guess it's like a trailer
Van is luxury on that score
I was thinking to sell Van & Car (Honda CRV diesel, which can my box trailer, if needed) & just get get one 4wd pickup
-
Can you get a Trials bike (4RT) in the back diagonally with tailgate up or is it tailgate down?
Can you get 2 bikes in with tailgate down
Is loading easy enough on the higher bed, compared to an average barn door van ?
Just thinking about a pickup over the Van
Any other downsides ? (except the obvious lack of security & bike on view etc)
