Ok............ thanks for the clarification
-
So you keep reminding me....
However this is the pinnacle of Trials, the WTC and should be marked accordingly
Oh by the way, in the SSDT, Doug got away with a 3 on Grey Mare's Tail, instead of a probable 5, but was still 8 in front of the 2nd place man at the end............or are you saying his overall finishing SSDT score should have been more than Dabill's final score for the week??
Anyway this discussion is about the Penrith WTC round and not the 2014 SSDT, so why do you keep referring to Dougie Lampkin in the SSDT
-
Blimey - how blatant was that ?
If I did that & stalled in a Club trial (left dabbed whilst kicking the bike successfully - cos I couldn't do it feet up ) then continued through the section with just a dab at the end,
I'm very sure my score would be a big fat 5 & not a 1+1 for a 2
Stall, fall off, miss a marker, leave the course, fail to move forwards under 'No Stop' rules was a big fat 5 as to my understanding
Am I incorrect ?
-
Maybe, but the overall marks difference between 1st and 2nd was more than 2
-
How can a stall (engine off) not be a 5 and given a zero................beggars belief in a 'No Stop' ruling
Every club trial, you'd get a 5 and make no mistake
That's why I have little interest in WTC....... for me the world's best Trial will always be the SSDT
Let's see BOU ride that one, in 2015
-
Sorry to hear that they work out like that
One of the best mods on mine as I can park in anywhere and it folds up out of the way, with the foot above the spindle - so doesn't get caught up
-
-
Good one, get a Mitani one though
Twice the performance & half the weight
Most people junk the Honda stand as it bends easily & then the bike falls over
-
Blimey
I just wash mine, wipe it down & just spray a bit of WD40 on the chain, never chain lube
Lube stuff & check everything - only remove stuff to work on something
-
I reckon there is a new bike in the offing
Now that all the old ones are used up in making the 2014 Mont 260
They have seen that demand for the bike is still there with the 2014 bike, they are confident that a new model will sell
-
Looks great - now get it dirty
-
Some amateur pics I took of the British Championship event at Low Row, last Sunday
Nice setting, for a Trial
Section 3

Has it done a lot of work? or had a hard life?
Any exhaust smoke?
As said, do as much it needs
-
Make'em ride a slightly harder no stop version of the SSDT After 6 days the winner is World Champion
Trials needs to go back to its core values & move away from the circus antics that it has become
Make the sections long & tough, but not dangerous, over an eight hour day for 6 days, with the rider having to conserve his bike & himself in a proper test - with roadwork too
Now that's proper trials for me
Doubt it'll be popular though
-
-
-
Well said
I agree - more rideable sections would be personally welcomed by me
-
Dadof2.....
It's a combination of it all
Stop or No Stop This year's SSDT (which you intimated you would have posted it there, if you could & good to see Doug win by a greater margin than 2) Observers Section plotters
It just goes on ad infinitum, round & round without conclusion Everybody is wrong except the rider, my advice is ride what you have entered & get on with it Alternatively if you can do a better job, volunteer to observe or assist the C of C to plot better sections
-
For 6 straight days
For up to 8 hours a day
For up 70 miles from Parc Ferme
Sometimes........... in torrential rain, all day and riding in white water
Then he'll be a true Trials allrounder..............just like Dougie Lampkin
Dougie has out performed at
WTC, both indoors and out
Scott Trial
SSDT

Doug was awesome................very strong in his riding and mentally when I watched him
He placed the wheels perfectly and to lose marks on only 6 sections out of something like 180 odd sections over 6 days is some feat
His margin of score, made little difference to the Grey Mare's tail controversy too and hats to the observer of that section - he did a fantastic job, in difficult weather, high water levels and faced with a myriad of different riders
The Observer is a class act, as they all were
-
Great 8th win, by a decent points margin too
What a result, for a guy who doesn't ride Trials every week, compete in the british Championship or ride WTC anymore
Even more of an achievement, in my book
Pleasant chap, very down to earth at the sections and in Parc Ferme too
Loved the SSDT, first visit for me this year and looking forward to next year already
All the riders did brillaintly
