  1. Rim locks are the size of the rim, not sure what you need but they are normally WM1 front, WM2 Rear Go for the michelin or IRC (Far Better tyres than MT43s) Also Vee rubber are good budget tyres
  2. I'be got a Dave Cooper rack. Its the best £90 I’ve spent, it’s a lot better than a trailer, never had a single problem! I’ve had quite a few problems with trailers over the years!
  3. Yes, but a standard tow bar assembly is designed to withstand the force of an 800kg un-braked trailer and capable of pulling even more (some are secured to the vehicle with only 6 x M10 Bolts!) I would guess the forces applied by this would far exceed that of a trials bike on a frame (granted, not so much twisting force) most tow-balls are not directly mounted behind the 40x40mm box section, so a large shear force iwould be applied I would also like to here what the manufactures of the bike frames say on the matter, as I would think the would be ultimately liable in the event of a failure? The instructions for mine stated Max load as 120kgs
  4. Yes, I had the same problem with my trailer, had to move the wheels forward It would be nice to know what the rack manufactures say about the nose weight, they have pictures on their site of cars with racks & bikes fitted? (Surly this would be misleading advertising) All they state is a maximum of 130kgs (rack rating)
  5. I’ve had one for a few years on my car and van, does towing weight actually apply, as you are not strictly towing? (there is no increased load as there is no trailer pushing forward/down during braking) Also the weight is not on the tow ball its actually behind directly on the tow assembly, Ive seen quite a few also towing a trailer as well as having a bike on the rack! What difference is it to having 100kgs in the boot? I hope its legal as it’s the best thing I’ve ever bought for carrying my bike!

    Rusty Nipples

Is this a common problem, as mine have gone the same!
  7. It looks well engineered, Id like to see some close-ups of the frame!
  8. I doesn’t say anything about being british, in fact Arthur Browning is riding a Jawa Can’t see a problem with any make of bike as long as its Pre65
  9. Sorry guys it me being a bit grumpy, I
  10. Was that a copy of the Husqvarna engine?
  11. Yes, shatterford is a good place to practice, £10 for the day. there are also a few other places not to far When you get a bike let me know, I can always meet you there if you need a riding buddy
  12. If Comerfords had second hand ones for sale (1964 models) in 1965, surly that’s proof? I’m starting to wonder if its worth the trouble even putting a post on here, about Pre65 too many doubters! I don’t have a sprite, so its makes no difference to me!
  13. Im not 100% sure but I would guess the gearing & cylinder porting is different I would think the DT is closer to the early YZ rather than the TY
  14. I got a new wulf jacket off ebay, it was less then
  15. Anybody fancy a nice Porsche Boxster project, all it needs is a set of wheels and a good polish! bargain a £500!!! Who said you couldnt get bargains on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320650933663&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
  16. Try central wheels (they do them mail order), or you could make your own from spoke blanks, you do need to roll the thread (using a die is not recommended)
  17. I apologies to jack_the_lad, 'I said he seems angry' in fact he has put the better case forward for pre65 It seems the others have a bigoted opinion about pre65, even if you agree, they disagree whatever you say Just build what you can afford, ride it and enjoy it, it pretty much like anything in life!
  18. I’ve come to the conclusion that 'Jack_the _lad' is probably putting the better case for classic “British” trials It seems most clubs will let you ride even if you do have Spanish forks / hubs ect... If you are on a budget or want to build a bike cheaply you are never going to compete anyway so my conclusion is:- Just take your bike, have a ride, and enjoy it. That’s why we all started in the first place Right? Oh, and fork gaiters are £10.00 pair on ebay so not a big deal really!
