    Beta 4-stroke

Not indecisive, but sensible after the Sherco fiasco
  2. Purely on principal I am 100% behind Andy. The hours and hours of work done on this site by Andy for the benefit of others was knowingly disrespected. Even after warnings it continued. They have always had the opportunity to do like the rest of the reputable dealers do on this site and that is support it with some paid for advertising but chose to ignore the site rules and abuse the forum and its members. People need to know that when someone makes a recommendation it is from a genuine source. Andy has acted impeccably throughout this debacle and acted to protect the sites integrity and I for one applaud him for doing so.

Turning this on its head, if they are not spending dosh/time on marketing, then they maybe just be spending it on the bike! It certainly looks like they have with the 4 stroke. Also, how did they keep that under wraps for so long In my experience, companies who do OTT marketing usually do it to make a poor product look better.
  5. I just looked at the Breidden Hills rider database I created 2 years ago and we had 294 individual riders through our events over that time. I just picked out the main bikes and also what type of rider was riding them. Here are the results.. Of course you would dissagree!! you couldn't start it I had other people who would agree with you as they stood red faced cursing the 3.2, but I could start thier bike also. I have had four through my hand's as people tend to sell them cheap when they can't start them, I thought I must of been lucky and got one that started better than most, well seems I have had four that started better. Over thirty trials on mine now, and the hardest it was ever to start was after a get off, it flooded the airbox with fuel. I drilled a hole on the lowest part of the airbox, and inserted a valve stem with a clear tube on it, then a bit more valve stem on the other end of the tube so I could put a valve cap on the open end. If she get's upside down or floods the airbox, I can see, and easily drain. I agree with rtclick on this one Dixie. I couldn't start mine when I first got it easily but then I learnt how to do it and got it started most times even when hot except when I dropped it then it was a bitch. Mainly due to flooding the airbox as rtclick said above. Didn't do the drain mod but I can see why that would help.

The Sherco isn't loud . Not sure why someone said that Its nice to see fourstrokes coming back coz they are so much fun I still maintain that the best engine for a trials bike would be a rotary wan-kel engine
  9. Yeah, me too Im sitting here in the living room with my laptop while the missus is watching TV and I am chatting to both sons in their respective bedrooms on MSN Thats what its become now.. I can't say its good.. the only time we see each other together is when we all sit down at the dinner table for tea

I rode the 2005 models of both on the same day. The review was published Dirt Bike magazine in America. What exactly do you want to know? How much better was the Sherco
  11. Great reply Chris and its a pleasure to have someone of your calibre posting on the forums Something that would be nice to see from some other top riders so we can find out what they really think.. Keep it up
  12. Yeah, but remember how EA screwed up on Pacific Assault. As a hobby I use to own/run a modding website for MOH called http://www.mods-r-us.net/ which is still going i'm glad to see. I got invited onto an internet development team by EA GAMES for future MOH releases of which Pacific Assault was one of them. We done a fair bit of work suggesting ideas for the new game and was totaly p****d when it was released and they hadn't listened to any of our suggestions after saying they would include them Happily, I understand from the spec that they have included some of the stuff in MOH Airborne so am anxiously looking forward to its release
  13. Believe it or not, I only have one vote on Polls myself and cannot manipulate them (well I probably could by hacking about with the database, but that's way more effort than it's worth) You can Poll all you want - what happens on the road stays on the road. TC rule Sorry boys but Andy's right. Hmmmmm.... Whats Cota Kid been up to then he dont want us to know

That comment caught my attention also. It made it sound as if they had a choice ! Now then where shall we put the camshaft, valves, cam chain etc...? I know lets put it in the cylinder head so it will raise the centre of gravity Exactly
  15. Now you're talking FPS when you talk about COD. I'm still a fan of the Medal Of Honour franchise. Look out for the latest edition MOH Airborne

The write up on this machine is excellent The only thing I dont understand is this line .. High centre of gravity. The centre of gravity of the new REV 4T has been moved noticeably higher so as to offer the rider maximum handling feel for trials riding. The new overall weight distribution instils more confidence when negotiating obstacles. Raising the centre of gravity makes something more unstable Anyone any ideas on this?

    06 Or 07

Had a go on a 125 Sherco last week and it surprised me, a lovely little bike and a bit better than the 06 I tried. Think they have made a few improvements which have worked. Hmmm, what you doing riding a Sherco 125 ! Interesting
  18. I just bought the Company of Heroes RTS as well - Its pretty good Comes with warhammer RTS free at the moment .
  19. I beg to differ here. The crank in either example will do 1 revolution. The primary gearing being the same will rotate the wheel the same distance in both cases. What will be different is the way the power is delivered with different torque characteristics for either design IMHO

Didn't take you soft ******s long to get to this stage did it!! grow up it's a game. I was trying to take a stab at Sherco or anyone who has/still does own one..... ... Sorry to all, still friends? No Yes the 4T was a bitch to start but after I had fettled mine with a Keihin and a few other mods, it was a pure joy to ride. If not for the starting problems, I would still have it now
  21. I have the same opinion. 2T 125's struggle as it is. Unless the 125 4T could match that power output, I find it hard to believe they could make it competitive. But, would like to be proved wrong.. They need to start recruiting jockeys

The reason why I think that EFI is the future is quite simple. Carburetors have been round for ages and are at the end of the development curve. What you have now probably wont be much better in 5 years times. Now with EFI, the deveopment options are nearly endless. With virtually limitless set-up parameters and probably more to come. After the first year when peeps were wary of EFI on the the 4RT, its now regarded as a quality machine with virtually no problems in relation to fuel supply to the engine. Just bear that in mind. the 4RT, the first EFI mainstream trials machine is only a few years old and already it is a big success. The fickle trials community have accepted it Most cars can idle at 800 rpm with EFI so I would expect that future developments will see the high tickover currently experienced come down. I had my Sherco 4T on around 1400 rpm tickover to avoid the big fat fart at high torque/low speed/low rev situations so there isn't really much in it.. To compare with enduro and motox bikes is probably not a fair comparison. Where their requirements are at the complete opposite end of the spectrum to trials machines. IMHO

I'm ready to order one but I need to know how much and when? You will order one without even trying it or seeing what the market feedback is and if it has any problems? Well, somebody has to be the crash test dummy and Barry is out of action so why not me? Plus, it's a Beta so it's bound to be good Fair play, I hope your experience lives up to your expectations.
