  1. I agree completely with you on this Speckled Hen I was at both Bikespace's Novogars and they got it spot on both times. Theres enough comps already for the top lads, let them ride them and keep the Novogars for who it was intended for. then you will see bigger entries and greater support IMHO

    Beta 4-stroke

Maybe Sherco started at 300+cc because they knew they would need at least that size for Cabby to ride it and didn't want to have to do a 250 then develop a 'competition' bike with more power? I would assume they will have to upgrade the Beta as well for top level competition ?
  3. Black surfaces will radiate heat faster than a shiny surface but this can have a negative effect as black absorbs heat fast too! so therefore if the fins are in close proximity then painting black wont help much especially when the bike is stationary with no air flow between the fins to dissipate the heat via convection. Can you explain this in more detail please? Are you saying because of the longer stroke the frictional characteristics create more heat? I am interested in this info for another project. Can you point me in the direction of the technical data on it please?

    Beta 4-stroke

Yup, Sherco blew it and hell are they paying for it! The 4RT is pretty established and doing very well. EFI has been vindicated Beta getting into the fray makes it all the better as far as I can see but would have liked to see EFI . It makes all the difference. Peeps who say they have ridden a 4rt and didn't like it for various reasons could be that it wasn't set up for them. Plugging in a laptop and messing with settings is far easier than getting the spanners out and stripping everything. Also, it can save marriages by avoiding stripping the carb on the dining room table EFI is the future and all 4T's should go that way IMHO
  5. You have to give Scorpa some credit here. For a small company with minimal funds, they take some real bold decisions taking ideas and building stuff like this. Even the mighty Honda don't do that in trials

    Beta 4-stroke

You boys are giving the sherco 4T some stick but the problem isnt with the bike as it is now, it was with Sherco for releasing it before they had fully developed and tested. I still maintain that after riding both the Scorpa & 4RT, the Sherco still has the best 4T engine for Trials. ..If it had EFI from the beginning, then maybe it would be the best 4T Trials engine of the modern era ! IMHO One other thing, If you lot think 4T's are no good and 2T's are the best for trials etc, why has this thread been so popular? More than any other 2T thread. Secretly, you all want a 4T as its just such a different experience over a 2T and much more fun. Especially the exhaust tone
  7. There is no doubt that EFI is the best way to get fuel into the engine on a 4T. Honda wouldn't have done it otherwise. The carburetor is 100+ year old technology and needs retiring to the nearest museum. IMHO

It looks like it has that Mikuni you guys love so much
  9. From my humble position of watching riders, especially watching Ross in practice and at events, he appears to virtually climb slippy banks with virtually no throttle at all. It appears that he applies loads of revs then when the bike is moving forward, backs off and the pure momentum of the wheel spinning and decellerating gets grip and up he goes. Watch this vid to see what I mean - At the beginning he climbs the first part with in 2nd gear with low revs where as a novice, I couldnt get up that bit at all from a standing start . The last step you will notice that hes off the revs when he goes up it as well. Its a mystery

    Taming A 300 Pro

This may seem an obvious question but why do you guys buy the 300 then mess about trying to reduce its grunt. The 300 is renowed for being a fierce bit of kit. I only know one guy who rides one and it put him in hospital!
  14. I heard it was the house husbands too
  15. HA -HA - But if they didn't break down, what would you do for a job !
  16. Bold step and I hope it works out for you guys Shame you didnt have legislation to force them all at that age to ride 125cc and then job done !
  17. Background is 20 odd years in machine design (Electrical & Mechanical) including robotics and automation. Now I'm a Co-director of a medium sized Product Development & manufacturing company in the food & medical business sectors. I basically run the development part and have a small team including development sales, Polymer scientists and 3D design engineering (Autodesk Inventor 11). We basically come up with new forms of packaging then I work out how to make it, then design the machines to make it, build them, then install them in my factory and make the products.. I would suspect that most of the British and mainland European contigent on here have come across one of our products in the last month or so Here an example for those who maybe just a tiny wee bit interested Machine designed in 3D Actual machine built and being Installed Website design and graphics are just stuff I do as a hobby
  18. Does your sub tropical weather not have an influence on the amount of peeps who ride up there? Being a woosie southerner , if it drops below 10 degrees then I stay in bed ( saying that, I know a big tough Yorkshireman who has been known to do the same )
  19. Sorry guys but im getting addicted to You Tube since I packed in riding! I think we should have a YouTube forum for finds like this This guy was so lucky http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NA4pjmYzu0&eurl=
