    I'm lucky!

Well done sir on getting an entry ! You will truly experience a week you will remember for the rest of your life ! 1992 when I rode my one and only Scottish is still very much in my mind today! Seems people have covered the Bike and accomadation etc side of things already. My best tip to you is GET FIT - VERY FIT start training NOW the fitter you are the easier it will be for you. 200 km's per day is tough going - especially on the soft peaty moorlands ! (after having already done 3 or 4 days already !!) Get your fitness as high as you can - work on your stamina and most of all ENJOY your time in the SSDT! Good Luck !
  2. Correction the word is he does let you have a go.......you just gotta prise him off the thing in the first place 'cause he likes it so much ! And there were 2 Ossa's at Tong on Friday 19th Dec too.
  3. Sorry Mate - but what you have said here is a load of tosh ! FACT - Pennine Trialsport have sold about 6 Ossa's so far ! I know cause 2 of my mates have bought them ! - And yes I have ridden one. They are in the dealers and have been sold by the dealers - FACT. I can tell you factually that the bikes are very well made, easy to ride, nicely balanced and seem to grip very well indeed, and in the case of my buddy Ian(ekkers)Exley have boosted his riding to scary levels - such that now he is a threat to me There could be a miriad (read lots and lots) of reasons why Ossa are not going to be at Sheffield - these reasons may seem even ridiculous to joe public (sponsor/clothing) - but to speculate ignorantly about the bike having problems as you (and others have) is both deflamitory to Ossa (factory) and to the UK importer and his fledgling dealer network. Birks will need all the help he can in what are difficult economic times, yes it would have been better if Ossa were to have been at Sheffield - but they are not, move on! Think about it - the trials world NEEDS Ossa to suceed for many reasons. Bashing them over this aint gonna help that to happen..... is it?
  4. Cant believe you have suggested that ! Ok if you just want a bit of paper to say you are insured. What the hell do you do if you have an accident or you get a pull by the Fuzz ? I can tell you - you are in the deep stuff mate ! Lets say you were the cause of the accident and there was an injury to a third party, you would be facing no valid insurance and all that brings. Insurance companies will do whatever they can do to avoid paying out these days. An evo is an evo a rev is a rev. Under a tonne insurance sounds tempting but in fact you have paid for the wrong 'tool' Just to add further, the main stream Insurers - Bennets/ Nash etc companies do not deserve or really want our business - they do not insure for our needs so dont give them your cash for somthing thats not right for us and our bikes / sport. Support the business that supports us ! Cheers
  5. Had exactly the same hassle myself.......was then put onto MSM insurance who do a fantastic trials bike policy - Look no further and buy from them, excellent friendly service tailored to 'our trialsing needs' ie cover you for theft and when you are riding at an event or just bobbing down the road to practice or fuel up ! Brilliant! Only requirement is that the bike is Road regd. Nice people too - who even phoned / emailled me at around 6.30 pm on Christmas eve to answer my enquiry - now that's service ! Contact them on 01279 870535 ( and no I am not on commission I'm just a very satisfied customer)
  6. The new beta rim solves this problem at a stroke - no tape ! Why can't all the other manufacturer's follow suit and use these latest type rims ? Appreciate this doesn't solve your problem though - previous reply made a good point though - did it leak before ? Good luck hunting the problem down - gotta be one of the most frustrating thing's to happen !
  7. My mate has just done a few short clips on my iphone of me on my EVO 250 4T (Four stroke) - The sound is pure PORN for my ears ! - And yes I do like music when it suits ! Cheers all for 2011 !
  8. Will fatboy Renthals fit the clamps on a 94' techno ???? check first before parting with your $$$$'s ! The standard renthals set up are perfectly OK. Cheers.
  9. I feel their pain.......often !
  10. I doubt it ! nose weight for family type cars is around 50 kgs 4x4 upto 100 kgs so 'Wet bike' weight + rack weight =??? and this will be pushing you to the upper of upper limit at best! - what this means is the maximum 'dead' weight to be imparted directly on to the tow ball. Exceed this and the handling and potential saftey (tendancy to lift the front of the car) is impeeded. Also there could be issues regarding insurance.(and those buggers will take any 'cop out' action they can these days) A trailer is always a safer and more vehicle friendly means of transport for your bike - although not half as convenient! If you must use a rack - ensure that the towbar is more than adequate in its own strength - a rack imparts a twisting action as well as a up/down bounce action and be satisfied how the thing is attached to the vehicles chassis/body - the loading of a rack on a car is entirely different to the way in which a trailer imparts its load to a car extra plating at attachment points should be considered. Vehicles supension also may need stiffening. - If in doubt talk to a towbar fitter / engineer.
  11. All that work and still burning oil? - that sucks ! Sorry to say but sounds like (if I have understood you correctly) that the crank case is pulling in gearbox oil (?) did you check the condition of the mating faces of each half of the cases? Check for flatness/localised high spot/ localised low spots. Possible also that porosity or cracks / cracking are allowing gear oil through to where it dont wanna be. Assume that the crank was in servicable condition at the point where the new seals sit /make their seal? And that the seals were not damaged when fitting (it does / can happen) Best of luck sorting this out though.
  12. IF this is correct then its very sad news - I have personally known and dealt with Derek and co over many years and I always found them to be very straight and honest people to do business with - I for one hope they can find a way through it.
  13. Hi Welcome to the wonderful world of trials, suggest that you join Spen Valley and Hudds Falcons clubs and between the both of them you will be able to ride lots of suitable novice and beginner trials with out having to travel too far. Meet lots of like minded friendly Lads & Lasses to boot ! Cheers and good luck !

    Hitler

HaHaHa Brilliant my kinda humour But have to tell you that the words dont match the subtitles Which actually makes it double funny if you know what I mean. Hitler is Pi**ed off because he has just been informed that his army has just lost a battle or somthing along those lines. Nice find - but where 's the BMW version then? Cheers!
  15. Hi - I would suggest that you try and get a ride on both and then make your mind up. What suits one doesn't always suit another. Peoples weight, riding ability and riding style mean's that this is the only way to ensure that you make the correct choice. Don't forget to try the 4 strokes too - you could be very surprised. Good luck & feet up !

    2011 EVO forks

Right now I'd be happy with 'knife and forks' Only a few more days (hopes!) before my new forks arrive stuck on the front end of a '11 evo 2504T. Just seen that there will be a test on all the 2011's in TMX next week - so we might get to know a bit more about the forks from that. I have been borrowing bikes from friends for the last 6 or so weeks just to get a ride, so it will be good to get settled on my chosen 'weapon of choice' new forks and all ! I've been like a kid on christmas eve for the last few weeks - so aplogies to all my mates

    2011 EVO forks

Hey ! Either way I wouldn't loose sleep about it There was nothing wrong with 2010 forks ! Anyhow at least you got some forks mate - mine should be here next week (attached to my new bike I hope!) Cheers
  18. Cracking Idea ! Question is, who is going to be 'brave enough' to set this up in the UK ? The closest we get to this are all the lovely girls at the NEC Bikeshow - Sadly it's just not 'DIRTY ENOUGH' for us off roaders !

    Beta 200 06

I have just sold my 06 Rev3 200. Having owned it for around 12 months. Firstly, the bike never let me down electrically. Yes I have heard of stator failure - my take on this is water ingress as a possible cause - through the wire inlet and cover seat face. A proper silicone job soon fixes this. - BUT ALL bikes out there have their perculier faults remember! The only drama I had was the water pump side casing corroding through - due to the Mag alloy used upto 06 (I think) fixed now by using straight alloy which doesnt react with coolant which has 'gone off' - if not changed every 3 months or so (damage done before my ownership!) I am a Design / development engineer as part of my job, and I can honestly say the the quality and finish of the Beta is as good as anything out there - they are a good strong bike. Spares are readily avaliable should you break anything. They are great to ride and are very forgiving, they are not harsh on tyres or fuel either. They will get you up anything, I weigh 14 stone and mine never baulked. In short excellent for a clubman. Would I recommend one - YES but your son at 14 wont be able to ride a 200 in a Club trial till he's 18 I understand, he should have a 125 till then. I have sold the 200 for a new Beta 250 Evo 4t (four stroke).
  20. Crikey ! Dont take this the wrong way guy's but I very much doubt that you need to go to such (complicated) extremes to 'fix' trials in the States. Firstly - keep it Trials - too much deviation from this and you will end up with 'American (Football) Trials' and you will be riding a different 'ball game' to the rest of the world - we really dont want that do we ? Try this simple and surefire way to get riders to 'ride with a smile' at your clubtrials. (Centre and Nationals are a different ball game). 3 routes per section maximum - Beginner (dead easy) Clubmand (a mix of the harder easy sections and the easier of the hard route sections) And the Expert/ Hard route (severity gauged to suit the top riders at your club). In England this works a treat as long as the Clerk of course sets out to have the winner in each class to be on 10 marks lost maximum. No fun for Mr Last place, to be on 100's lost is there? Then get out there and publicise your event - you guys are masters at that - and I bet that in a short while you will reverse the decline in your events. AND you will NOT be 're - inventing' the rules or straying away from the rest of the world ! I'd love to see a real challenger appear on the world scene from the States - but it can only happen if he rides as the rest of the world does from grass roots level! Best of luck anyway and I hope you can kickstart some interest back into things over there - just be sensible when pegging out ! Cheers!
  21. Got to say that the idea of any sort of 'flap' or cover stuck on the rear guard IMO wont stay there too long I recon that your back side will simply wear it or rub it off after a short time, making a mess in to the bargain or the petrol will attack any sticky materials you have used there. Also as already pointed out the muck and crap issue is worring and I for one would not consider a 2011 Sherco for this reason. I wonder what happens if or rather when you overfill the thing and then sit down on the seat, petrol and *alls dont get on too well I recon The sherco maybe a good bike (not tried a 2011 myself) but this 'design' issue is to me a mistake. At £4.5 k ish for a modern bike this is simply not good enough! I agree that Sherco should look at a extended filler as someone previously suggested a la JCM.

    Montesa 311

Try speaking with Martin Sandiford (see his banner ad on this site) he should be able to help !
  23. Well you really can shout 'How much?' in Yorkshire now !.....Just seen the bargain of the year posted up on the (Friendly Club) Spen Valley web site. Come and ride the next club champs trial at Harden Moor on the 20th November and if your not already a club member (if not why the heck not?) then you can join the club for a measley 1 quid How much? - a quid! The BARGAIN of the remaining year i'd say. That's 4 top draw club trials to ride for a membership of a quid - sheesh ! http://www.spenvalleytrials.co.uk/bulletin_Trial_November_20th.html Linky goodness here is proof. This quid then covers you till the end of the year - sweet! BTW - I am also told by some big peoples up in the land of authority ( big Mart & Ian actually ) that the trial will be sensibily set out to cater for the correct skill level for each route = nowt daft on the easier routes to worry about. So no excuses guy's and gals - a quid, a sensible ride.... what more do you want eh? (Ok some decent weather - it is YARKSHIRE isnt it!) Oh and those 2011 evo's to finally land! Hope to see you there
  24. Leigh will be tapping away right now - he missing his fav programe on TV the X factor The trial dont finish for some till late. Just keep popping onto the Spen web site to see when they are posted up. Hope you finished with that Cheshire Cat Grin ???
