Oh I was thinking of adding one to my colection of fantic gizmo's , but have not yet received a price from the seller , I was getting prepared to grab it ! or lol at the price
Thanks , and it looks nice enough in photos that I would have to keep my boys off it !!!

Just for grins ... what would a nice fantic trials bicycle be worth these days ? Fair market value ????
Thanks , Glenn

Hi ! As I sit here in total boredom (w/a broken clavicle) cause I'm not at the WR in TN. right now , I just happen to have the oe. owners manual for a 74 ty80a handy !!!! the book says Finaldrive 420 chain and 12 /41 or a 3.417 to 1 ratio... And I don't remember how I geared my boys , most likely stock for starters , may have put a 11 tooth countershaft on . But it is a ball to play with , as my shoulder can atest to !!!!
Have fun , great little bikes !

I've got to ask all the other fantic folks ... Is the 300 front brake more powerful than the 240 ? And is it worth the effort of swapping the backing plates ? Just a thought ....
Thanks , Glenn

Welcome back , there are alot of us here that have returned to the best two wheeled sport there is !
Get a bike and have some fun !!!

Oh come on Lee ! at my last event a month or so ago , I did quite respecable for the only twinshock entry at a modern event ! I rode the same int. line as the modern bikes and did pretty good ... But at this event the frozen ground and snow fall was the great equalizer ! I beleive under the conditions we rode in my drum brakes may have given me an advantege and I usually ride nostop events so it may have been more to my style , cause insome of the sections stopping or hopping /whatever on the really bad traction ,got you a 5 or 3 at least .
But I must say you are right , I've done things on a modern bike that my fantic (or any twinshock) Just flat are not capable of doing !
Thats why I'm saving for a new FANTIC !!! or a sy250f just because by the time I have the cash the rumered fantic 4t may be available , and I fell in love with the scorpa4t I've ridden . And I just want enough time on a modern bike so I can see if gravity really is just a theory or a fact !!!
Glenn
OOPPS ! in reply to the original ? I've shaved maybe 6lbs off my bike , fit modern pegs ,lower and further back , K&N airfilter in stock airbox , Falcon shocks , WES progressive front springs , ERE fatbars with tag adapters (raised bars 15mm or so ) , 200 fantic top clamps , Late model coil , iridium plug , New rewound statorplate and trigger, OKO flatslide carb and the porting on my bike isn't quite stock ... next maybe a reedvalve conversion for the 240 motor ??? BUT IT WILL NEVER be a modern bike !!! Although it is a blast to ride !!!!

Not to change the subject Phil , But that is a GORGEOUS Tiger in the background !!!!!

Great photos and it looks like you folks had a great event !!!

Boy you guys are making me real depressed ...!
I had voluntered a month or so ago to work the event .(observer , cardpuncher , timekeeper whatever ...) Then one of my guys at work got hurt and is off for a while so I had to give my weekends for a bit . But I got the schedule set last week so I could still go and at least watch one day ... And then last friday after doing a little tweeking on my boys ty80 , I was testing it out in my backyard , on level ground , (in2nd gear, no beer) and somehow got launched off the little bugger and landed on my left shoulder !!!! Now I have a broken clavicle , dislocated shoulder and a perscription for some healthy pain killers !!!! And a note from my doctor not to return to work until 5/26 !!!! so I can't even work on/ride my own bike now !!!!
And I was so looking forward to working the event , meeting all you trials nuts , and just having a fun weekend ....
But now it hurts to even drive my car !!!!
Oh well I hope you all have a blast !
Glenn
-
How did the weekend go??? I'm off the bikes for a bit as I broke my left clavicle last fri. eve... ( on a ty80 of all things !!!!) I hope you did good with the 300 .

NOW just watch her feeding schedule and make sure your nice to her !!!! (or the fanticfans will come take her away !) !!!
Chris does a great job ! get one of his OKO's , You'll love it ! I've already pulled my forks back abit in anticapation of one of his tanks ...
I'm tired of the plastic tank being my steering stops !!! (I have little hard rubber bumpers where the bolts used to be ! I might break down and powdercoat the frame this time around as there isn't much I can do to it anymore !

BELSTAFF !!! NUFFF SAID!!!!!

WOW ! Great photos ! I've never before seen a good photo of a ktm trials trials bike ! I need to find one ... I always longed to own a penton when I was young ... Just how rare are the ktm trialers ?

WFO = wide Fu#%in open (as if you didn't know !) The jets are as I pm'd you and I'm not taking it back off to get the needle # until I get a fresh carb to airbox boot , as mine has seen better days and took me about 20 minutes to get backon correctly this last time ... And if my memory works from yesterday , There are 5 needle clip positions , and carb came w/ clip in the middle , I lowered clip 1 notch to raise needle slightly ... and remember I'm only about 10 feet above sea level here , So I beleive from past experiance from your jetting tip on the delorto and plug condition that followed, that this will workfine for where I actually get to compete !!!
Now I just need a event and the cash to get there !!! And btw , those forks I got , are pristene tubes , late model single seal long spring versions !!!! So the paint is gone on the sliders ...
Keep yor feet up !!!
Glenn

Why not ???? I ride my 9yr olds 'new' ty80 every chance I get !!! There GREAT FUN !!!!
Welcome back , and keep your feet up !!!

Lee , much to my neighbors dismay that is just what I did yesterday afternoon !!! WFO shutdown ! changing the needle clip took the sharp edge off the fanny's midrange hit ... And I got a complete pwk jet kit to play with , but I think I will leave it alone for now ... I Like IT !!
And I run a mix of 2/3rds ave gas w/ 1/3 98oct.premium at 75 to1 with amsoil full synthetic oil , their racing oil , not the 100 to 1 oil they make.
And trust me , I've printed every peice of PWK tuning info I could find ....

I just finished playing with the 26mm OKO flatslide that I received from Classistrial ...! after my cracking the floatbowl wilst adjusting the float level and waiting for a kehin bowl to arrive , I set the float level to 19mm as shown for the pwk , and just now put it back on .
After playing with the idle and riding the old girl for a bit in the back yard , after a long WFO run I pulled the plug and checked it's condition. Just a tad to clean , so due to my K&N airfilter and iridium plug , I moved the needle circlip one notch down (to slightley richen mixture) . And after putting her back together All I can say is WOW !!!!
If your riding your 240 or 300 with the stock delorto , get in touch w/Chris at classictrial , He'll make you love your bike allover again ! ABSOLUTY AMAZING performance gains !!! This is the first carb swap I've ever done that the carb was jetted correctly out of the box ! He put some time into making this a bolt on affair... The old girl has such a increase in response now I'll have to learn how to ride it allover !
And ANDY , I have no connection at all to classictrial , (except for the love of fantics !) .I just greatly appriciate someone in todays world that says what they do and does what they say ...

As stated above , most likley the best twinshock everbuilt , and with a bit of new tech applied can/will compete against modern bikes with surprising results ...!!! A very rewarding bike to ride , when you learn it , and will only go up in value !!! And also most likley the best built bike I have ever owned ! and I've had alot of all differant types !
Glenn
Get it , learn it stock , then contact Chris at Classic Trial to tweak it ! Great service and he knows/loves old Fantics ...
-
Hi ! the angle bar is the kick start stop ! ALLWAYS fold up the footpeg when starting !!!!! On the one I just built for my 9 yr old I had the same concern about the brake lever and case contact ... So I bent the pedal a bit and added a peice of rubber to the pedal were it contacts. It lowered the pedal so it was easier for him to use w/riding boots on and solved the issue in my mind as I could not find any other stop for the pedal besides the case !!!
They are GREAT little bikes and seem to never lose any value either ! So they are well worth taking proper care of !!! (imho)
Have fun , Glenn
And get some adjustable pull ratio levers, so your boy can work the controls w/ a light effort !!! (great confidence builder !) I also put a throttle stop in his , as I ported and tweaked the engine when I went thru it ! It'll come out as he learns what to do !!!
-
Well I'll have to fiqure it out when it gets here ! And I'm just glad the kick starter didn't go thru the roof ! Can you get any kickstarter pivot pins over there ? I got the last one I could find out of Utah , but would like to have a few more ...?
And my motor is pipey ,but not uncontrolably so . you just have to know when it hits cause it will upset your attitude ....

How can we say our sport is not growing ? just look at the user count on this board ! since I've been here there are 4800 + new members , and alot of them hang on .... The event I rode last weekend had alot of interested spectators of all ages ... All seemed to be keen on the point of it being a competition and not a "race" .... Let's pick the ball back up from when it was dropped in the mid 70's and show all of motorcycledom what a fine sport trials IS !!!! And it at all levels is a family freindly pastime...
Bored, waiting for paint to dry !.!.!. ,
