  1. Hi ; I have no idea where you are so I can't tell you where to go for a woodriff key , but make sure you find/fix the reason it stuck wide open before you start the bike again !!! the keys are out there , it just depends where you are as to how fast you can get one !!! Glenn , Just letting us know what country would give us a direction to send you !
  2. I had a Honda NX250 when they first came out , Fun little commuter , real agile on pavement . Great fun until some A hole made a lane change into me , and me into the median divider ... was only in a coma for four days ! Thank the lord for Bell MotoStars ! Needless to say I have a phobia of riding on the street now . I think their aiming at me !!!! But I did love my pre children vfr , comfy bike for me Glenn
  3. I must admit mark , you do make a point that maybe the whole world should listen to ! I tend to cruise down the freeway at 60 to 65 , just a comfy speed ... but here in my neck of the woods I'm a hazard !!!! traffic always moves at about 85+ ! And they wonder why we have the highest auto mortality rate in the states ! or is it because if you can't read (handicapped!) a freind can read your drivers test for you ????? You should see the ins. rates here in charleston county ! Almost twice what I used to pay in So.Cal. (lake arrowhead) But slowing down abit wouldn't hurt anyone , I mean , REALLY whats the rush ? Glenn , just a getting grumpier old guys thoughts .......
  4. Yeah , but Hydrogen works , and you can produce it yourself ... (get your hand off my shoulder , big brother !)
  5. Steve ; I run a 2 inch pvc pipe spacer to get the preload my 200+lbs wants ... Just besure to put a flat washer between spring and pvc , so spring doesn't slowly eat up the pvc ... Bob taught me that ! Glenn
  6. Spud ; Good luck , but don't ride the fantic in anger !!!! They are starting to get to rare ! And brg. is a abbreviation for bearing I believe , If that makes my post make more sense to you . Glenn
  7. Boy , I'm not real observant !!! I didn't even notice the clamps ... But to do 360's the throttle and clutch would have to pass thru the center too , So this bike turns far past 90degrees so you can turn around inside your own wheelbase without hopping ! BUT WHY ??? Bottom clamps do look quite strong though ! Glenn
  8. Wes Variable Rate from Bob @ B&J racing in TN. , He also builds FALCON shocks to your needs ... And a pretty cool guy too ! Glenn OOPS , I meant progressive springs :-)
  9. Somedays I'd be more than willing to rent mine out . ! Glenn
  10. Don't they just have fork protectors attached ?
  11. Spud ; How do you like the ride of the trikshox's ? Do the heim joint mounts free up the movement so the shocks don't bind in the mounts ? (major cause of shock failure ...) Because I'm thinking of another set of slightly longer falcons built w/out eye bushings ... I've found a brg. supply house here that makes a composite spherical brg. that will fit the shock mount eyes . And I've got one of Chris's drilled swingarm shafts (greasable) here and some self contained/sealed needle brgs that are the same length as the slick long bushings Chris supplied me with for the greasable shaft ... Might have to get the dampening a bit heavier on the falcons , but I think it should work sweet . Just trying to eliminate any binding in the whole setup and to let the shocks actually control all movement . And I think your just spoiled by disc brakes ! I must be getting old , as I've only had disc brakes on street bikes !!! And as far as drums go , they don't get much better than correctly setup fantic/swm hubs ! And Lee , I was just teasing , But you know that ... Glenn
  12. Well Steve ; I'd love to go but right now I'm looking at my budget and trying to figure out which events I can make it to ... I'm gonna try and make the next couple events on the stra and or the itsa schedule 's and maybe bring my middle son to try his hand at trials on his little brothers ty80 ... And like mark said H20 !!! and nothing with caffine in it if its real hot too . I hope Matt has a great time ! and don't forget alcohol dehydrates you too !!!! Glenn
  13. HHMMM... Does that say either the bike must work really well ? , or is it Jay is a helluva rider ?? Couldn't resist jay ... congrats ! Glenn
  14. And Spud , I remember you asking " fantic , What is it ? " They kinda grow on ya , Don't they ? Glenn
  15. Lee isn't it ballpean hammer ? or in your fanny's case ballpain !? lol ! Glenn
  16. THIS SITE ROCKS !!! I left trials back in the early 70's , but never left bikes ... Bought my trusty fantic in early 05 after seeing a Geof Arron show on cable tv ... And thought to myself WOW they STILL ride Trials ? Found the STRA website and their classifieds And haven't looked back yet .! I didn't even know what a Fantic was when I went to buy it ! This website has taught me allover again why I love trials and the fine people who participate in this great sport . I'VE NEVER MET A UNFRIENDLY person on a trials bike !!! And I've roadraced , enduroed , motocrossed , and desert raced AND this is the best two wheeled sport there is ! I'm very Gratefull that ANDY gives us so much of his time and effort !!!!!!!! Cause' somedays , being a single dad with 3 kids to raise by myself , (with no outside support ...) the oldest just started highschool . My bike and the events I get to make it to are the only things inlife I can count on !!! Anyways Rant over , sorry for yelling . And glad to know everyone of you ! You should always remember something I learned a long time ago , The only STUPID question , is the one you were afraid to ask ... Glenn
  17. Best LOL I've had in a while ...
  18. Anything we wear these days makes us look fat ! duhh!!! I'll call my brother and see what kind of mood he is in after his first daughter just graduated from Boise ... I may get him to box it up for you and put it on a truck ... Pm me your shipping address . And did you measure the frame yet for any changes ? But you will have to get my bro off his a$$$ and get his gg out to a event ! He's alot better than he thinks (imho)... Bike looks SWEET ! and even sounds good ! Glenn And I just remembered , didn't hodi make a 175 and a 250 ? bigger is sometimes better !?
  19. All I can add is , PAT TAKE CARE OF YOUR BACK FIRST ! I've been a mech. for the last 30+ years and thankfully have never injured my back . But I know a few that have and not mended correctly (in a hurry !) and it has slowly changed their lives for the worse ...................... LISTEN to your therapist , Exercise and come back when you are happy ... At your level of riding you need nothing to break your concentration ! The USA needs a world champ soon and your our best bet ! TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY FIRST ! Then go kick the worlds behind for us ... Rest well , Glenn
  20. Let me clarify ! quote , " Now i am thinking that as a begineer who hasnt really ridden a motorbike before " My point was to learn how to ride a bit first , before investing in a trials bike , And I agree with most everyone else that a ty or early beta would be a good choice ! Glenn
  21. Hi and welcome here , But get a small dirtbike of any variety and learn the basics of riding first ... as trials bikes are EXTREMELY responsive and hard to learn how to ride on . Then once you get the basics of how to operate a bike , then go to a event near you and ask about a small displacement used bike ... And then PRACTICE , PRACTICE .... IMHO , Glenn
  22. And it's ANDY'S site so he gets to make the rules ... for the best trials site on the planet we all play on !.... Glenn
  23. Looks GREAT Jay ! Did the frame/engine position flex/move at all ? And I'll get ahold of my brother in bakercity to see about the zero donor Bike I told you about back in the dark ages ... Now to go out to my shop and fire up the fantic and see if after a week back at work if my clavicle is healed enough to play ... Glenn
  24. But I've got to say Maico should've done it ! Trendsetters with longtravel mx suspension and all back in the day ... Hmmmm 501 cc , aircooled , longtravel . Would have been a rush to say the least ...
  25. Hi Lee , busy week ,back to work and all... The problem I had with my OKO was the float would hang up due to the float ears being bent just a tad and contacting the float stand . and I probably caused the bend while trying to set the float level ! Only to find a microscopic flaw in the float valve rubber tip that never let it seat correctly ... Chris does do some extensive mods to the slow circuit , but not having a stock one to compare I can't even guess what he has changed ! If the carb worked ok on the gasgas , It may be the differance in intake velocity between a piston port vs. a reedvalve engine ? Or the 28 may be a bit to large in dia. and not be able to develop the required vac. to draw fuel properly at low revs ??? Here is the best kehin info I've found ! http://www.carbparts.com/keihin/needles_tu...g_your_carb.htm Hope you get the fanny to work , cause the change in mine was like a fresh latemodel engine had been installed ! Best of luck ! Glenn
