My first impression reading the add was the seller had the bike built , but if it's the builder selling it , that I can see ... Lord knows i've lost time and money on project/passion bikes/cars/jeeps/trucks/ etc.... And life goes on
-
But why after the expense of building it with all the new parts and labor involved ,Why do you dump it a month or so after it's completion ?
That would scare me right off it ....
-
Build a 83 fantic 240 ... And then have fun !!!! You can make it as modern as you want ...
-
And we must remember one point that always seems to get confused ... More oil actually makes the bike run lean , fuel wise ....
rich or lean with a carb and we play with needles and jets , the amount of oil should be a constant . Does the vertigo have a O2 sensor ?
-
Wrong spoke count to be a simple job .... And a flanged rim with the right # is hard to find , You can find a older morad type rim easier ....
-
Why ???? And you are talking about the shaft and not just the brg. race ?...

I started riding trials in late 73 at 12 going on 13 . We got a TL125 'cause the TY80 wasn't available yet ... I always loved the challenge , against myself not others and the atmosphere always present at trials events ... I had previously been in the NETRA jr. enduro series and although fun and I won alot , I was alot happier ridding trials . Time warp to 2004/5 and I'm a single dad with 3 kids . And I rediscover trials ... Find a old Fantic ??? and get right back into it .
Now here I sit , about to turn 57 and I've got a really trick Fantic and all the cool toys to go with it . And a young son who has lost interest in the cool reflex I put together for him . (so I had a riding buddy ...) And I've been pondering the ?? why ? I've got a 1200 mile round trip to go riding at a proper event , on a good day I can do well in the expert class , on a off day novice can be tough ... So I ride intermediate mostly ...
But why ? Because a bad day riding trials is still better than just about anything else I do ... And it's about all I do that is for me . I also greatly enjoy the company of the folks I go see and play trials rider with too ! And not much makes me feel better than cleaning that damned section on the last loop .:) So yeah I'm a little selfish and I do it just for me to feel good . Could be doing alot worse things ....

When was the last time you went to a cart race ? The Tecumseh / Briggs boys , not the honda clone motors .... They get some evil power out of those engines , and with centrifugal Clutch's , Rpm is a big key ...
-
Your doing some really nice work there . I like it .:)
-
I hope they continue with the project....
-
Novogars area decent bang for the buck ....
-
And B&J Racing in Tenn. can help you out with bits over here , And that's one I built for my kid ,and as you can see , he doesn't grasp the clean your bike thing real well ... And he hasn't been around or ridden the bike for quite a wee bit now . I should just sell it and make more room for my Fantics.... Glenn

What did I miss ??? What TT ? And I've seen some kooks do some incredible things on a segway ... Like lead on sentence"s ....
-
A blow gun can unintentionally , destroy the jet block gasket as above ... But make sure you have a proper new one before dis assembly ! They are a wee bit finicky ,but when set up correctly , work quite well . (IMHO)

And the original float needle valve in mine got replaced with a kehin one , Hardly perceptible flaws in it and it would spew fuel at the most unwelcome moments ... Found pinholes with a magnifying glass ... Worked fine about 70% of the time from new and then would suddenly be way rich , or dump fuel ... And then be fine again , pulled out what little hair I've got getting that one cured ! Not a issue since :):)

Martina & Biff ;
I wish you two the best of luck with your story book
And at a loss for words , thanks for the vid. clip !

Fun little pigs though ....

If you've got good parts connections , Like jonv8 !!!!
And OTF , you'd of appriciated my CJ 7 ... 5.0 HO mustang motor , NV4500 granny gear box , Ford 9 inch diffs w/ oxlockers front & rear and custom made teflon sheeved leafsprings .... She could park one wheel on a 55 gallon drum and still have 3 for traction ... But more money than sense and I sold it at quite the loss ):
And the VIN plate said Jeep Motor Corp. , not AMC or CHRYSLER !!! I wish their was a photo on this computer ...

Well at least your smart enough to be investing in a REAL Jeep , not one of those Y things .... And get the Bultaco's and all the pieces you can , will be a worth while investment !

Here's her sexier side ... She is shy !
-
Ok I looked and took some pictures ... Mine has allan bolts , flush into the clamps , I would believe that is as built !
-
I'll have a look this evening , if I get a chance to go out to the shop ....
-
I've survived with my Italian manuals for my Fantic ! and they are 34 + years old !!!!
And guys if they can build a bike out of it and use it in the battery , ! light weight electric bike !!!!!!
-
I've always cleaned / gutted / burnt out all of my fantic exhaust's ... A little bit of loosely packed material in the silencer shouldn't hurt and mellow the tone out a bit ...
If I remember my exhaust tech anywhere near correctly , The midbox on a 3 piece 2 stroke exhaust is the expansion chamber ! Cleaning is good, I wouldn't worry too much about sound absorption there !... packing the mid box may slow down exhaust velocity and have adverse effects .
Just my 2 pence worth ,
Glenn

The Bush should be tight to the swingarm and rotate on the shaft , you've got some knackerd bushings .... Measure id , od. etc and get some needle brgs to replace the bush , Maybe ?
-
Contact Bob at B&J racing in Tennessee , he has a addiction for old yammi's and may have what you need in stock , and if nothing else a wealth of info on your bike ! and or a 350 top end to make her correct ...
