I've got a new RED front disc guard on the way to replace the UGLY green/yellow one ... I KNOW ,GET YOUR Priorities STRAIGHT !!!
And the Trick gas cap and mount flange arrived today ... Off to the english wheel we go ....
-
10 bonus points , And if it kicks forward on the right ... It must be a HE-MAN bike ....
-
It shouldn't hit , Check the mount bushing and cycle it thru full compression without the shocks attached , it may be close and mud.dirt will scratch the silencer ...
Have you ridden it yet ???
keep your feet on the pegs !!

Just watching it makes my legs ache ...
-
BMZ in france has all kinds of bits for the bike , just got to take the time to order ...
-
Check around at your local stations , or just find a small airport , private plane style ...
And you really should show us a photo of your new girlfreind ....

WELL ... the cast aluminum piece were the bolt attached was about 3/4 of a inch thick , and comparing the correct bolt from the right side to the wrong bolt on the left , I found they used a 1/4 inch shorter bolt , so I ran a tap down the hole from the back side and all is good with a little loctite ...
Got to get one bracket though , as the one with the bolt issue is bent down and back a bit ... Shimmed it for now , but ...
Glenn
And I've got to dremel a little on the new! pegs !!! my moto cinch anchors/tiedowns are about a 32nd from the pin going thru the pegs ....
to secure the bike to trailer ... I hate tie downstraps !!!
-
I just turned the laptop at work sideways ....
BEAUTIFUL area !!!!

Ok ... Fork seals in , footpeg mount secure , Fresh redline oil in the gearbox ... It's getting more fun to ride little by little
-
I may be wrong , but I believe both of those young men were on trials bikes before they could walk really well .......
-
I use Specific wet clutch gear oil , Not a fan of ATF in old fantics , currently using Redline 80w motorcycle gear oil with great results . Used Silkoline light gear oil previously with good results and clutch action .
1st thing on fuel !!!! keep any thing with ethanol away from your bike !!!Run at least 93octane ethanol free fuel to save yourself future heartaches .
I use Amsoil dominator two stroke premix oil (synthetic) @ 70 :1 with aviation fuel . (110 octane and you can store it almost forever without it going bad).
And if my memory still works , I think the gear box holds 500cc of gear oil . There is either a site glass or a level check screw on the clutch side case of the 300's.
And Mike @ the tryals shop in Locke , New York is your best connection for Fantic stuff here in the states .
Have fun with the old girl ....
Got to go grocery shopping now and then do some more work on my "NEW" 97 section ...

Hey CID...
Do the Red wings have decent dampening ? I ask 'cause the cheap shocks that are on the back of the big wheeled TY80 I built for my son are useless ... it might as well be rigid! I http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/20753-serious-ty-80-mods/ The length on them works , but The dampening is WAY to firm even with my 200 + lbs on the bike , I've tried it with one spring and it's still just as motionless ! I just want something that resembles a trials shock for him and there are Red Wings on the bay at the right length and price ... Should I try some ? they CAN'T be worse than whats on it now !
Thanks for your vote

300 's are smoother and torqier than 240' s and have better clutches ,Hence all the "340" modified bikes ... And unless it was owned by a butcher , the rear motor mount should be fine , but look at it anyways . They steer quite well and have everything you need if you have basic riding skills , You won't get bored with it in a few months ...

Gee Cope , I didn't see Beta in the bike list ...
Cool location for a tiny o-ring though ....
And danhar 707 , when you get a new o-ring ,give it a shot of silcone spray before you install it on the mixture screw , just a wee bit will extend it's life greatly .

Sorry I said anything ....
Soft serve ice cream ?, that should be a Jepardy question !
-
The fin is more of a kickstand stop/rest , stand wants a new bushing ... And I've got nut-serts , time-serts and heli-coils . , Will decide witch will be most apropiate for the application .... And it's a upper bracket mount bolt , Tapping and loctite may be all that is needed ... If it will take the sufficient tightening torque all will be good , if not we move on to further measures . It's not like it gets serviced/removed all to often !
And Classic Trial is sending me a flush mount gas cap ... !!! Pimp it Booyy !!!

Your legs do look a tad short there ....

Snatch it up ... you will love the build quality of the old girls , It's pretty basic , with decent compression , a clean exhaust and some TLC , you'll love it ...
Make sure the kickstart shaft splines are in good shape , Clean the carb good and put in some fresh fuel and oil , then go from there . At that price you can't lose on the bike if it will move under it's own power . I just got another fantic for my stash , or I'd be making a road trip ...It will most likely need some consumables , but they all can be had . They are their own reward !
Glenn , Welcome to the fold ...
And to answer your ??? YES And make sure you keep Domino levers on it , or you will be disappointed with the action .
-
But this is a chicken before the egg ????
Bicycle trials developed out of motorcycle trials ... And I believe our current crop of world class riders started on bicycles ....
So yes styles evolve , And the guys above are FANTASTIC . But I still like to ride my bikes .
Glenn
And the soundtrack does leave abit to be desired ....(must be the old guy brain part !)

Enough Said for the Iron Lady .

:( First dilemma .... Changed out the foot pegs last nite to find that one of the allen bolts had been changed to a sae bolt ! I was making use of the mass quantity of stainless hardware I've got in bins , to find that one of the bolts has been replaced with a force fitted SAE bolt !!! Now do I tap it back to the correct thread ? or do I drill it and put a heli coil into the cast aluminum frame piece ? WE are after the best repair here ....
Or just retap it and see if the is enough material to do the job ?
And my fabricator told me tonight to get a flush gas cap and he will do a one of a kind tank ..... PIMPING !!!!
-
That"s strange to me, Here in our ITSA events the clubman line is the intermediate line for us old experts? that still have to go to work on monday that don't want to ride the expert/pro lines .... And still have fun :) (every time I ride my bike !!!)

OK .. 1/2 a hour on the bike and the mods begin ... Replace cracked , dry brittle rear disc guard with a hand made aluminum piece ...
And do you guys think I would be insane if I got my neighbor/buddy/fabricator to build me a aluminum flat tank to fill the void of the stock plastic tank ?
It would help make it the trials bike it would have been , if Fantic had survived a few more years ...
And yeah I still have to clean my shop , but the Miata pieces are at work !
And did you notice how gasgas is copying Fantic with the in board chain adjuster ??? who da thunk it ...
