  2. Funny Ham2 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Now I know--Ta!
  3. Slightly off topic ...but.. the lad is not going to go away--- how are we supposed to pronounce his name ( just in case I bump into him)? Is it: Bou- as in Boo ( as in ..to give Raga a fright!) or Bou - as in Bow-wow (as in..Dougie's indoor bike!)or Bou - as in Bo' (as in... Selecta..Gas Gas gearbox problem).

    Carb' Spacer Removal

Update--Thanks again for your help lads-- I found an old pilot jet in my tool box so I drilled it out...just for the hell of it.. It really solved the problem-- made the power meaty at the bottom end. Instead of just messing around, practicing on a very, very small rocky section I took Cherie ( I name all my Shercos)to a bona fide trial last sunday ( It's been 10 months since I rode an event) . I think the longer run out has cleared out the exhaust. The softer power delivery made the bike grip on mud and roots much better than the 250 ever did-- now I get it (the need for the spacer). Cheers
  6. Yep-- confirmed-- 2 of the 4 I've had were dribblers!--
  7. On a similar topic... I have found that my riding has improved dramatically by emulating ( in a Geordie /Spanish style) the Spanish riders' and minders' utterings.. especially when delivered at hi speed:-- Quanto quanto!..seat alhambra!..heeho de pootah!.. you know, the sort of thing Raga uses to get out of a tight situation!? Try it
  8. Easy-- I'm sure on all Sherco frames near the head-stock there is a plate which states 2% pre-mix. I've had four Shercos now and I run mine on 75cc ( fully synth) per 5litres of optimax which is less than the 2% stated. Shercos have a middlebox/silencer combined--if you use too much oil in your mix the packaging gums up and it is virtually impossible to clear them out successfully. As for your 'petcock!!!'-- point it down for ON-- point it left(out over)for OFF-- point it right ( in towards the exhaust) for RESERVE. Okeedokee?
  9. Speaking from indirect experience-- it looks like you may be burning a little gearbox oil there
  10. Yes go to Ryan Young Products-- there is a 2005 trials manual there
  11. Could be a Yam tyz frame with a 4 stroke motor squeezed in there ! If I'm right do I win anything?
  12. Not many redeeming features in my experience I got one given to me ( in a box, in bits and pieces)about 9 years ago. That re-kindled the off-road bug but I'm afraid the gearbox and the clutch were out of the frame more often than in! I seem to remember the steering was smooth and sturdy though.
  13. Don't mean to be the bearer of bad news but.... I've heard of a few 04 shercos with weak spark problems.. just a worst case scenario thing. I owned a 250 '04 with a poor spark-- try closing the plug gap.The symptoms you describe for poor starting are the same as I had on my '04. Hope i'm wrong! it's been known before!

    Works 315r

Yes! Some parts did make it to the outside world. I went to view a 2003 315 a couple of years ago in deepest Yorkshire. Along-side the standard 2003 for sale was a Titanium clad 2003 315 that the owner was very protective of. I begged/hassled my way to a test ride of the 'special'. The front end was lighter than the standard '03 'cos it had what looked like machined titanium fork legs and clamps ( the owner confirmed where these parts came from to assure me everything was above board).I lost interest in the std bike and made a very, very reasonable offer for the special..he declined..so I bought a Sherco!!?..I never said I was logical.

    Carb' Spacer Removal

Thanks again for the advice fellas! I think the general consensus of opinion is to gain a little more skill on the bike. Skill?....hmmm... now where can I buy that from?

    Carb' Spacer Removal

Yes Nigel you're right-- 250 for sections with rocks--290 for muddy climbs...but would anyone protest when I switched bikes mid-trial? There's a question.. does anyone know if Jarvis has his in or out..er.. spacer that is?

    Carb' Spacer Removal

Thanks for the replies fellas. The reason I want to take it off is that the power delivery is too soft (just like you say) compared to my 04 250 (the250 p155ed up steps from stationary) . If I don't have to mess about re-jetting the carb then I will definately remove the spacer. Thanks again
  18. Excellent info ...thank you.. we need more posts like this

    Scorpa Sy250 Opinions

Yes.. I find the people who use the phrase--''as different as chalk and cheese ''have obviously never tried ASDA's own brand cheddar......exactly the same taste..awful!!
  20. This worked for my old montesa after trying to bleed it for hours and hours: Tip the bike up 45 degrees ( front wheel up the wall)and bleed it. Then tip it 45degrees ( back wheel up the wall) and bleed it.This is not a wind up

    Scorpa Sy250 Opinions

Hello scorpa people... anyone there??please answer.. To mis-quote Ali G : 'Is it cos I is Sherco?'
  22. Hello Scorpa people--can you advise? I'm thinking about a SY250, hopefully '04 or '05yr. Does anyone know what the difference is between these models? Are there different SY250 models i.e imports vs UK dealer bikes, have there been any clutch mods? I remember trying Martin Crosswaites bike (possibly an 03 model )at a show- the clutch was a bit heavy and the engine was easy to stall ( I think he had the timing advanced). At about the same time I also tried another 03 bike at a trial and it was much easier to use..lots of low down oomph! So if you see what I mean: I like cheese but not chalk. Any opinions please
