  1. Toni Bou ?..I thought I'd drag myself to Sheffield this year just to see what all the hype was about Bou.I was expecting this apprentice to have a good go at some of the sections!! I mean I was a bit sick of the cynical show that Fuji displayed last year . I'm sooooo glad I went, that was the best Sheffield ever. Two days later and I'm still hoarse. The crowd and Crosswaite played their part . Raga tried to pull rank on Fajardo to put pressure on Bou in the final. Crosswaite and the crowd did'nt like that one bit ( credit to Crosswaite as I think he has a tie-in with Gas Gas himself)and they turned up the volume to encourage Bou. Raga let it all get to him on the waterfall- then he got brain-fade at the U-turn in the race ( I think it was a three/four/five-point turn). The best rider won at Sheffield. Toni Bou the apprentice?? shame on me.. Toni Bou the master!! As for Dougie?...I think it was Bou and Fuji who showed him the way to exit the rock section. Don't blame the bike-- HRC can't manufacture brass balls.
  2. Use the hairdryer technique to remove technosel- I didn't and it pulled some of the chrome off my old gasser

    06 Gasgas

god: you're not alone with the piston problem.. I don't want to say much cos my mate has to sell his bike but his 06 300 nipped up twice in a matter of hours. It all got to the legal/threats stage before GG agreed that the piston was too big for the barrel so yours was not just a one off
  4. It's a common saying round these parts. Just means: I don't mean to tell you something you already know I didn't invent it ...honest! :hat:

    06 Gasgas

:hat: My mates '05 250 pro had very 'sticky' suspension when it was brand new..making it very lively .After letting a few fat lads take their turn on it ( big drop offs were best)it quickly settled down. So there you have it... get eating! :hat:
  7. :hat: I think the Trial Des Nations is on British Eurosport this week-- could be 13.30hrs Friday?
  8. :hat: Thanks fellas, Your forsight is amazing---- it was the galleries around the pilot that were bunged !--- now can you visualize next weeks lotto numbers for me please?! :hat: Merry Xmas boys :hat:
  9. Oh No ! thats worse than I thought-- that means they have been designed back to front. and you're right--- it doesn't matter which way round I have my 'pegs' I still can't stand on them ( particularly when I'm in a section!) Thanks for the replies... now where' :hat: s that ''buy it now'' button?
  10. Can anyone tell me what that black lump is above the reed block? and has Grimbo really been riding around all year with those footpegs on backwards ? :hat:
  11. I went out last year in Jan/Feb (North of England)in some pretty cold conditions - minus 3 degrees C-and the carb started to ice-up badly. I made a cardboard liner covered in silver duct tape to go around the carb (nothing too elaborate)... really worked. Don't mean to teach my Granny to suck eggs but give it a go -- really cheap option. :hat:
  12. :hat: Hello TC people, Just bought an 05 290 Sherco last night-- tried it out at the sellers place for at least 30 mins ( ran fine) then let my mate ride it ( needed a 2nd opinion) before I paid for it. Yep you guessed it..started her up this morning- ran fine for five minutes then the motor wanted to die, needed lots of throttle to keep it going. If I lifted the choke a second time the idle improved a lot- so why does it run lean like that. I know the 05 models have a carb spacer so does the 05 need a richer pilot than previous models? What should it be? I am at work as I write this so I am planning ahead for this evenings strip down . Any ideas?, Thanks, Wayne

    05 Beta Feedback

Thanks for the input people... the main crux of the matter is that I really don't have a problem spending money on repairs ( yes -I am from up North)and I dont doubt the importers commitment to the product. What I can't accept is a trials bike that ''could ?!?!'' leave you totally stranded half way around a trial ( I have very vivid memories of pushing a rev3 on't moors). I think I need to leave this question open a little while longer.---- discuss!-- Thanks again

    05 Beta Feedback

Hello folks , It's that time again----- where I find myself looking for a new (to me) bike ( '05 model). I like the way a rev 3 rides but from the experience of a couple of mates(with '04and'03 models) I know the electrics are suspect. Anyway heres the query..the 05's have been out for a year or so now.. has the stator/cdi problem been sorted? All feedback welcome. Ta!
  15. Update-- tried the gasser 06 300 with the keihn on--ultra smooth but way too much poke for me punishes the slightest error glad I tried it though
  16. Do I spy a montesa 315 swing-arm? I know the 315's had parts made in Italy...and that crankcase looks wiiiide!... more pics please

    New Beta ?

Now you've got my attention If you've done that with some 'photoshop' software I am very impressed-- if you haven't I am very interested more info please!
  18. Am I missing something here....or are you all being sarky? I thought all modern trials bikes have had nikosil plated bores for many years??!! Answers please ?!
  19. Now thats a photo Excellent- thank you
  20. Dabster-- why do you say that about the 03 shock is it an age/wear thing or was that particular year a bad one? Cheers

    Tyres

My mate has an 05 gasser 250 with a Vee rubber rear tyre fitted 1 week ago. Personally I don't think that bike grips well with any top brand tyre on it so I am paying close attention as to the performance of this new tyre . First impressions are quite good-- soft compound ( like blocks of fudge )--so it grips quite well on loose surfaces but the sidewall seems a little stiff. Its running at 4 psi at the mo' so I'm trying to see what it grips like with less air in ( like I said its not my bike so I can only make suggestions ) Early days -- juries still out--I'll keep you informed !

    Sherco Silecone

clean machine wrote:- The best permanent solution is get a gasser you'll have more fun n less hassle with water getting in the airbox!! Ho, Ho! Ray Mears actually carries a Gas Gas airbox in the desert as it's the only guaranteed source of water. To partially quote a TMX tester (gas gas now scorpa, dealer)''Gas Gas are now on to MK24 airbox for the Pro''. I can only presume that it does'nt rain on clean machine's planet !

    Sherco Silecone

I've done this on all my Shercos in the past:- To make a 're-usable' seal:- Remove the rear mudguard then put a bead of silicone where you need it ( around the perimeter of the air box/frame)and let it dry...solid. Go to the mudguard and smear grease on the underside where it will make contact with the silicone on the airbox/frame. Now the silicone should seal but not stick to the mudguard so you can take off the mudguard and re-seat it to your hearts content.
