06 Gasgas
:hat: My mates '05 250 pro had very 'sticky' suspension when it was brand new..making it very lively .After letting a few fat lads take their turn on it ( big drop offs were best)it quickly settled down. So there you have it... get eating! :hat:

Carb Problems In Freezing Weather
I went out last year in Jan/Feb (North of England)in some pretty cold conditions - minus 3 degrees C-and the carb started to ice-up badly. I made a cardboard liner covered in silver duct tape to go around the carb (nothing too elaborate)... really worked. Don't mean to teach my Granny to suck eggs but give it a go -- really cheap option. :hat:

Sherco 290 2005 Jetting
:hat: Hello TC people, Just bought an 05 290 Sherco last night-- tried it out at the sellers place for at least 30 mins ( ran fine) then let my mate ride it ( needed a 2nd opinion) before I paid for it. Yep you guessed it..started her up this morning- ran fine for five minutes then the motor wanted to die, needed lots of throttle to keep it going. If I lifted the choke a second time the idle improved a lot- so why does it run lean like that. I know the 05 models have a carb spacer so does the 05 need a richer pilot than previous models? What should it be? I am at work as I write this so I am planning ahead for this evenings strip down . Any ideas?, Thanks, Wayne

05 Beta Feedback
Thanks for the input people... the main crux of the matter is that I really don't have a problem spending money on repairs ( yes -I am from up North)and I dont doubt the importers commitment to the product. What I can't accept is a trials bike that ''could ?!?!'' leave you totally stranded half way around a trial ( I have very vivid memories of pushing a rev3 on't moors). I think I need to leave this question open a little while longer.---- discuss!-- Thanks again

05 Beta Feedback
Hello folks , It's that time again----- where I find myself looking for a new (to me) bike ( '05 model). I like the way a rev 3 rides but from the experience of a couple of mates(with '04and'03 models) I know the electrics are suspect. Anyway heres the query..the 05's have been out for a year or so now.. has the stator/cdi problem been sorted? All feedback welcome. Ta!

Tyres
My mate has an 05 gasser 250 with a Vee rubber rear tyre fitted 1 week ago. Personally I don't think that bike grips well with any top brand tyre on it so I am paying close attention as to the performance of this new tyre . First impressions are quite good-- soft compound ( like blocks of fudge )--so it grips quite well on loose surfaces but the sidewall seems a little stiff. Its running at 4 psi at the mo' so I'm trying to see what it grips like with less air in ( like I said its not my bike so I can only make suggestions ) Early days -- juries still out--I'll keep you informed !

Sherco Silecone
HO, HO! ---just realized why this web site won't let you spell Skunthorpe correctly I know.. simple things please simple minds!

Sherco Silecone
clean machine wrote:- The best permanent solution is get a gasser you'll have more fun n less hassle with water getting in the airbox!! Ho, Ho! Ray Mears actually carries a Gas Gas airbox in the desert as it's the only guaranteed source of water. To partially quote a TMX tester (gas gas now scorpa, dealer)''Gas Gas are now on to MK24 airbox for the Pro''. I can only presume that it does'nt rain on clean machine's planet !

Sherco Silecone
I've done this on all my Shercos in the past:- To make a 're-usable' seal:- Remove the rear mudguard then put a bead of silicone where you need it ( around the perimeter of the air box/frame)and let it dry...solid. Go to the mudguard and smear grease on the underside where it will make contact with the silicone on the airbox/frame. Now the silicone should seal but not stick to the mudguard so you can take off the mudguard and re-seat it to your hearts content.

200 Or 250 Pro
Hmm.. powervalve?.. that could have been the Fantic my mate had! I'm getting old you know

200 Or 250 Pro
10 or so years ago a mate of mine got a trials bike and let us all have a go. Until I had tried this bike I was all set to start trials riding ( looked easy.. seemed an effortless sport..and all those other mis-conceptions ). That bike I tried put off my decision to buy a bike for a couple of years. The name of that beast---- Aprillia climber. I think it had some sort of power-valve arrangement i.e. no bottom end power ,then the revs brought in that valve and whoaaa straight off to A+E dept. I'd like to ride one now just to see how tame it's become!?

How Much For An Ultra Light Bike
This is almost, kinda, sorta, the same topic... My 2 mates are Montesa nutters and they can't get over the fact that there is no longer a 2st Mont (lightweight) so they are planning their own. Has anyone any experience ( drawings if poss') of cutting down the frame on a 315. They've got the frame marked out and don't think I can bear to look when they start cutting

Finaly Got A Bike
''Really would have liked a 250 ''?? Nyawton you dont know how lucky you are having the 290-- the 250 is snappy compared to the 290 ... just dont wind on the throttle for too long!! I've had a 290 '03 in the past and it gripped like a limpet-- good bike !

Gas Gas Gearlever
How much?!!-- Is it not worth putting some heat on it and bending it back or is it like an aero-bar (too brittle).
