Oh Yes.. .. you do need to torque it back up (have a look at the pinned manuals on here for the spec). Yet I do realise that most people just 'rattle-gun' the nut off /on so; Scribe a line before loosening and when re-tightening go 15 degrees past your line (this is a Copey redneck tip and I take no responsibility for it,my actions,my attitude,my dog,this government..blah,blah) and Wherry: Yup ,It get s a bit hotter the more you retard it.

Sight unseen ,my best guess is that: 1) Without any fluid loss. 2) Presuming the slave pistons push back manually. Then your master cylinder seals have failed 'cos of the cold?? Just a guess.

I was drifting a bearing into a casing (so long ago I can't remember the specifics). Therefore I had the bearing in the freezer(which was OK with the missus) but the stink from the oven, where the casing was being warmed up, got me a lot of grief..it seemed to have tainted her cherry pie a little?!

The word 'expert' only applies to the grade of course ridden not the maintenance of the bike so don't let that word imply anything else. As with a lot of things in life, when it comes to a trials bike you buy on the condition of the article,nowt else really matters.

I think driving a 4wd in rural parts of the country is a little different to driving one in the suburbs, here the biggest problem (after actually finding traction) is diverting around the other bozos who could never find traction in a month of sundays. I saw a newspaper photo of a snowy,grid-locked M25/4/5? this week (4hr jam)and counted no less than a dozen 4wd vehicles stationary, just waiting for the 2wd lorry to clear out of the way...must have been so frustrating. Apparently even the great Lord Humongous Jezza Clarkson got caught out in the snow in a Scoobie doo this week and had to be rescued..his comments were along the lines of: '...the car was epic but I'm still not allowed to barge the stranded traffic out of the way..'?!

Hmm, you weren't driving the old style Civic ?(the one Rover copied ?)'cos I had a similar experience in Weardale one year when a 4x4 blocked my way,barring me from a slope, for my 'own safety'!!Then I just pootled past him,no sweat.That car was unstoppable. I have to disagree about the general usefulness of 'most' 4wd vehicles as their ground clearance is a major asset when the snow gets deep and frozen....speaking as someone who has ripped the a*** out of the bottom of 2 cars in 1 year When the snow is so deep my car can't push through the sheer volume of white-stuff then I wish I had a bit more ground clearance. As an aside ;I reckon riding a trials bike has a lot to do with your competence at snow driving (I'm not bragging about either)....dropping the tyre pressure helps enormously as well...I'm stunned at how many people don't do this! I have friends and neighbours who ride road-bikes ,test drive for Nissan (not you Colley !) yet they can't get out of the street? I've got neighbours who are on their final warning for failing to get into work this calendar year so it's not as if they haven't been trying. I realise that I'm preaching to the converted here

Hard to bear old boy..those A5 quattros are the real deal from what I recall ; North /South engines (so no traditional Audi front overhang,nose heavy-ness),proper Torsen quattro drive not the inferior east/ west engines with the VW Haldex 'after the event' drive.

Our education standards are falling below some eastern European countries because of feckless teachers and clueless government. My wife works as a classroom assistant,my best mates wife is a secondary school science-teacher,so is my old school buddy,my sister-in-law is a school governor and the one comment that they all have in common : The observation that the teaching system is brim full of teachers who are lazy self-justifying whingers who never had a previous 'real-world' job,they went to school/college/university then back to school. You generalise by saying ''by and large''. A good teacher ,today, is rare and stands out like a bulldogs wotsits. I had to do a lot of work to find a good school for my kids. I even had to fake a passing interest in a particular religion to do it I don't wanna hijack this thread but if you wish to continue to defend the indefensible start another topic.
