My wife works as a classroom assistant,my best mates wife is a secondary school science-teacher,so is my old school buddy,my sister-in-law is a school governor and the one comment that they all have in common : The observation that the teaching system is brim full of teachers who are lazy self-justifying whingers who never had a previous 'real-world' job,they went to school/college/university then back to school. You generalise by saying ''by and large''. A good teacher ,today, is rare and stands out like a bulldogs wotsits. I had to do a lot of work to find a good school for my kids. I even had to fake a passing interest in a particular religion to do it I don't wanna hijack this thread but if you wish to continue to defend the indefensible start another topic.

I've got friends who jumped ship from banking to land a cushier job in teaching. Those who can,do..those that can't;teach . My youngest did a speech in PHYSICS about Nicola Tesla ,afterwards in front of the class the teacher said ''Yes,she was a very famous scientist,wasn't she?''. Here's a general rule of thumb for you: The more militant the union,the more cushy the job that union is protecting. :blink: I had a neighbour (road biker) who disliked trials intensely but wanted some off-road action for the winter so he spent a fortune on an enduro bike /transport and entry fees but jacked it in 'cos the organisers kept setting up observed sections with very steep aqua drop-ins, a-la-trials Imagine if the a*** dropped out of enduro market because: (1)The organisers had to use tighter courses because of the restrictions associated with limited land use which leads to; (2)Riders thinking ''Stuff this enduro bike malarky,I'd be better off in the twisty stuff with a low cost/maintenance trials iron'' ?? It doesn't surprise me that the relevant organisers are protecting the enduro 'golden goose'.

Pretty good but that enduro seemed a bit clumsy,I can think of a type of bike that would give that mountain bike a closer run?..now lets see?..a motorbike that is not as clumsy as an enduro,smaller,lighter,has no seat(major plus for downhill) hmm? I wonder if Dougie and GasGas need some publicity ,4.51 to beat; the only problem is that the video was clearly set on Anoch Mor in the summer-time so Dougie's got a long wait for this years snow to vamoose.
