  1. I have a really great 1981 156 back kick fantic. it sought off took a back seat and has been stood up for several years. I decided to ride it a bit more so I have just done a ring, decoke, shocks, clutch etc etc.. We all know the footrest are only 1 inch wide and too high so how have you modded yours? I think Wewson posted some bolt on alu blocks a few years back, but I want to use raptors, moving lower and furter back, ie welding. post me some pictures please... Thanks lee
  2. without wanting to get political...I cant vote here, I dont vote there..the uk got value and price mixed up. Since the seventies people have been watching their houses go up in "Value". Any daft bu/(er could get a morgage and regardless of his job or qualification and regardsless of the work ethic, he would watch houses go up in price. Thats the right word...price... In fact, unless you keep on to things long enough (examples like Ariels or pre 65 bikes... etc) things depreciate or go DOWN in value. Why should a house be different to a gasgas? its not, but the brits and yanks believed otherwise. This "assumed value increase" led people to rate the finances of their ownership to be much higher. They did the same or worse in the US...been there lately...its lijke after a nuclear war in detroit... Anyway, borrow money on assumed valued is ****ty. if the bubble bust..off you go. (GM had a production plant in Flint. 30K workers. all had a house, all were morgaged. wifes worked at toys r us. When the factory closed, the town became wothless. The banks took a hit because of "short selling" (google that, its ludicrous)and thze ecconomy card house started to fall. it moved over like the plague. As long as both these superpowers (USA and Uk) were confussing their supposed added value which the house price seem to show, the foundation for the economies was built on thames sand...and then it washed away. There is no such thing as a 100% morgage here..110% is unheard of.You need to SAVE 30% first. Consequently, the banks had a good portion of the selling price even when people had to sell at a lower price. and lets face it...the USA exported "the american dream" to China to keep the share prices high...dumb. Now they have nobody working to buy the thing the chinease produce for them.... The uk is much the same. Banks, insurance and the civil servants DONT add value, they just move money around. The public sector cost and dont earn money for the uk. There are very few cars left made in the uk, fiesta is in spain and germany, transit has gone...etc etc....if you become a country of consumers it will stay that way. Are we a victim of our ouw success? I think so. A TV cost 3 months wages in 1970. Now its a consumable... we wanted it like it is.... shame to see any company go to the wall... cheers lee
  3. yes it should do as the original 240 had a small clutch drum and cover... if it is a 241 or even a 301 or later, the engine mounts will need loosening...ther clutch basket and hence cover were bigger diamente lee
  4. and if you ever split with your boyfriend, we should go out for dinner... good on yer!
  5. Be careful what you read. I have been to Atessa in Italy and the frames are NOT made there. neither are the 4rts. That is in spain, still... Montesa is for me a household name in trials. I dont even like the Honda part of it.... The Montesa has the emotion, the Honda part the expertise... Yeah if they do move out of spain, the why keep the name...no prognosos on that fom me... Fact is, the "arrogance" which Honda have in motorcycling generally , wont wash with a trials public. If GG, Beta and now OSSA can still sell bikes, why are Honda missing? Price! Thats whats deciding it. I personally think that the 4rt is a very good one. Probably more than enough for 95% of joe public. They last and hold value well. They are not sellin here cos the people want to save 2000€....so they buy a Gasetaossa
  6. Yes Russel, they can be rebuilt. They were very good shocks in their day and if the shafts are still good then they are as good as any shocks from today, Bill Pye or falcons may help. I get them done in france from a brit.... alternatively go to ebay.it and search for fantic. A seller there called UGO has the repair kits listed. cheers lee

  17. I have been offered a 323 Garelli twinshock with a HIRO motor. I know these bikes are few and far between and I know also that HIRO parts are scarce. Any feedback on that? Is the kickstart shaft really designed to break after 376 starts? Are spares available? The bike is complete and has not had a hard life but it is also quite expensive at 1600

  22. I was pretty sure that they are 32005 but maybe not they are 20/47
  23. no you dont... you cant sh!t here without type approval and worst of all, there are ways around it which just cost LOTS on money Just like a lot of EU things, its an EU ruling for the sake of it. They have to make rules or they are not worthy.... is anybody looking at if the UK NEEDS such legislation. Millions of euros are spenhere for type approval which is not really needed. Just drives up the cost of lining and keeps the eu polititens employed
