Beta is a great company that has bent head over heels to make me right. Explain clearly what the prob is and they will solve the issue.
-
What Spit are you talkin about? I have a 63spit4 and paid dearly for the engine build. They had better followed either triumph specs or Kastner. Proper specs are just that. As Kas would say, " Never get beat by your equipment."
-
Do you guys have video surveillance or hunting cameras set on infrared? I have pics of every vehicle the comes here. Coming and going. If I did not have distance issues I would have video running 24/7. I'm not being an ass, I just want to throw out how we would deal with the prob.

Dan, I have not done your mods yet on my 13/300evo. In the summer I had no issues from cold, but now that the temps have dropped I do notice a lurch when shifting out of neutral. My bike has been so trouble free lately that I need something to do and your mod may be the ticket. I'll report back. Even if other brands don't either care or don't benefit as much, the testimonies of beta riders alone should ingrain your insight. Cheers

One thing I've come across with correct torque values; Mainly concerning top end bolts while the motor is in the frame.
I have bought the smaller wrench but there are areas where to get on the fastener you need another attachment, whether its an extension, swivel, or crowfoot. In adding any of these items the value changes and the conversions are hard to find for a hillbilly. Luckily I have been ok with changing gaskets with no leaks but I would not know if I am over torqued.
-
This is for sure strange . Does it leak when the petcock is closed? How low is the fuel in the tank before it stops?
-
Sorry to hear yall have such a theiving population. I dont understand where all the stolen bikes go. Is there really so many people that buy stolen bikes? Are not they afraid of long prison terms or getting shot?
I have have Dogs, motion detectors, lights, and hot lead for the Daring and Dumb.
-
Why even consider another Beta? You have had nothing but complaints with your rig.
-
Sounds strange that its leaking out the breather hose on that bike when it did not on the donor bike.
I had leakage at the cap on my long range tank. The fuel was coming out past the rubber oring on the cap. I installed an additional oring and the problem went away.
-
Good Luck Mags.
Sounds like your best bet and a shorter drive to boot.
They are not making anymore Land, and Freedom isn't Free.
-
After watching the documentary called Road Warrior, it looks like you can do what ever you feel.
-
Hope you are better soon. I'm back in the saddle after two months convalescing. ATGATT.
-
I have the opposite problem. I could blow up my mountainside and no one would come runnin.
A trials event is a minimum of 4hrs away, and any more would be 6+.
I'm not complaining. Just came to the conclusion that I have to make my own show.
-
Dont get me wrong, You can ride like a trailbike.
Big high speed jumps, whoops, and diving into turns just isnt what trials bikes do best.
I change oil every 5-6hrs. That is exssesive but I like clean oil. You would be safe following guidelines set in the owners manual.
Check the packing now and again, It is a normal maintainance item on a 2t and is easy to replace on some bikes.(Beta)
Brakes could be the biggest issue when trailing. Trials braking systems are dainty and are not the best at dissapating heat.
A trials bike on the trail will shine when the going gets rough.
-
The suspension on a modern trials is designed to be augmented by your arms and legs to absorb hits. Riding one like a mx'er will destroy the bike in relatively short order.
Maintainance is dependent on how you ride, If you are at the top of the revs consistantly then the oil will need to be freshened more often as with any other bike with heavy use. The air filter of course needs more attention if riding in dusty enviroments.
Exhaust fires are caused by oily packing. Useally these bikes are not building up temps capable of burning off all the excess oil that collects in the packing, and when you hammer down on a trail the oil in the exhaust can ignite causing the bike to smoke heavily. The best way to prevent that scenario is to use the proper oil mix ratio as related in the owners manual. Typically 100-80:1.
-
If you like your rig then if it were I, then I would replace the casing and related parts. And while at it, get the larger impellor setup from Jitsie.
-
You are on the right track if you just want to have fun.
I have a bit more rough terrain and have only rode against an enduro bike once with my evo300. It was my husky wr167 and a bud was on it, he a is a 400 2t rider. I will admit he didn't know the trails and was the first time on that firecracker, but I smoked him everywhere that mattered, meaning up the rocky hills, creek crossings, and in the sand. Scrambles around here are rough and rocky where a 150lb 300 shines.
-
I went through the same quandry and was told to bend my knees.
-
Congrats on your rig. I like them for sure.
Now I have always been a hick but I have only called them Ossa with the sound of a capitol O.
To end the debate I would listen to Micks' pronunciation.
As for Beta, Its BAta.
-
I would have a heart attack if anyone limited my creek rides.
The Beta is next to go up my creek, I normally use four wheeled vehicles for there are ledges and moss. I have been waiting for low water to try on the bike but now I'm waiting for my shoulder to heal. Anyway, the creek is one of my favorite trails and I'm itching to give it a go on the Beta.

Chalk lines would remove all doubt and be much easier to score for those observing. But I feel if the rule rules allow stretching the tape, Then stretch it if you dare.
If it doesn't break or have to be repositioned then you are clean and Lucky.
-
The worst is trying to sleep, cant find a comfortable position.
On the bright side, I found the time to clean all my dirty air filters. I had been throwing new filters on the bike and the dirty ones have been piling up.
-
Broke a rib, collarbone, and shoulder blade on the enduro four weeks ago. The worst is over unless I need surgery, will know monday.
I'm dying to get back in the saddle.
-
I second that Mags. I have a month to go b4 I can ride according to the doc. I am feeling like pushing the envelope a bit though.
As soon as I can raise my arm above my head I will feel gtg.
-
The Rekluse master cylinder sleeve fitting the Grimeca cylinder would be the limiting factor.
